What percent are you in GT4 so far? (JPN or Chinese version)

How come you have just 3000-odd A-Spec points if only completing the Mission Hall (which doesn't allow B-Spec) should yeld 8,500 points? Was that related to the cheats you used? (Just curious).

Yes, that's related. I didn't use the cheats that can also yield the points as I will play it by myself after knowing all the unlocks.

UPDATE

45.5%--------????-----stopped counting :P.

Btw, that black forumla f1 is badass, I have 1 too :) its doing la sarthe 24hr 1 at the moment :)

25.0% complete 15,944 A-Spec points - 554 B-Spec points - 587 game days - and a really crap 56.5% win rate.

I think I've gone completely the opposite way to Maskrider, I have picked over the cars to get the most A-Spec points. Usually in GT games I am in the high 90% win rate with only a handful of losses, but with trying to get the most A-Spec points I've really had to put up with finishing last or hitting the START buttom and quiting the race. NOT ONE RESET.

I've played 13 real days worth of the game, and about 55 hours, ish!

Done all Beginners Hall, all but last two Pro, All Easy and Hard Special Conditions, first two Japanese Hall and first ten Event Hall, as you can see all in A-Spec.

Oh! forgot, I have the Japanese version, which arrived on the 4th, hence the 12 days of play.

lol, try do the missions :)

That's my next mission??? To finish off the Mission Hall, then the Pro Hall. But only after the Special Conditions Hall, their are some lovely 70's and 80's rally cars I want to try out there?

Can't remember which one of the late missions it was, but I felt like a speed fix, LMP cars around Sears Point, three laps to pass 5 cars, I had great fun, but the one around New York the other guy was talking about is a REAL stinker, that one will take me ages, I am a real throw the car around the track, but that one Mission is all about style, I have none???

zzz, i was messing about on the missions, tried the one with the GT40, damn thats hard -eek i think its only 1 lap to pass 5 cars or something, and you start like 30 secs later than everyone else or something, grrr, lolalso the car understeers like mad!

Yeah, the missions after the first 10 are pretty challenging. Those car family races (in mission hall) are like what you said, some start even later, 30 sec is not really long.

The one in the 'ring starts like 90 seconds later, you can just cross your finger and wait for it to count down, ha ha !

I am currently playing mission 11 (in NY), only managed to get to 2nd position and trying to close the gap with the 1st, have to practice a lot to finish it.

I'm at a bit over 70% now.

I didn't care about Aspec points in the beginning – I was concentrating on getting through as much of the game as possible w/o buying a car, so I threw whatever I had at the races. Like, if I won a Subaru rally car, then I just took it to the boxer spirits and 4wd and Subaru races. And since they usually give you cool race cars as prizes, I have a lot of low aspec points in the beginning.

I gave that up when I figured out that I need a POS _truck_ to finish the beginner hall.

Those damn mission halls wouldn't be so hard w/o the stupid one-sided penalty in which they penalize you even if the AI hits you the wrong way ...

I got so pissed off at some of the special conditions events that I just rammed the AI against the wall until my 5 seconds wear off ... I don't like doing it, but I'm not a patient person.

Grrr it's getting annoying to try and get a challenge with a-spec - you have to keep guessing if you should tune up a car or not to make it hard, but not impossible.

Another way of bumping them without a penalty is use your rear side and swing on them, I did that mostly in Dirt & Snow, ha ha ! They were just bumped off their line.

Speaking of which, you all notice that the AI is really aggressive with the PIT maneuver??!? You gotta know how to handle yourself out there ... This car got me real good once on the uphill in Seattle when it pull that move on me IN THE AIR.

I have only 5 or 6 missions left in mission hall. Man, some of these are tough. Even harder than the New York one is the drafting one on the Test Course with the R34's. That one took me forever. Not sure I'll ever win the La Sarthe one, not even close.

Ohh yeah, those are very hard. I remember when i lost the R34 challenge by 0.17 seconds.. The hardest one for me was the Superbird challenge. Grrr..

The last 6 are simple but the waiting only made me agressive so i messed up alot of times..

8400RPM, if the La Sarthe one you're referring to is the one with Renault Meganes, I just went straight at the first chicane but avoided the far wall, not losing any speed at all. It was an easy win, so just try and cut through the chicane.

I passed the New York one yesterday after 15-20 tries. Then I tried the ones immediately following it and I thought they were near impossible. Buth then again that's the impression you get after the first couple tries anyway.

One of the one lap magics was ridicolously easy though: the one where you are given a race tuned Nissan Micra against a bunch of bigger cars; that sucker has brakes that defy the laws of physics.

6.5% ... but discovered a nice route to some serious cars and cash that worked and now I expect to move ahead quickly. I'm going to look at the Mission Mode some more soon too, only tested the first two, it sounds like fun. I liked the purple licences in Prologue as well.

I'm noticing playing all the demos and Prologue really does give you a head start, I got silver on most licences first or second try, and even the accidental straight gold.

So it wasn't just me who found getting gold on the licences mostly easy. Well apart from that damn last B licence test, I will never ever buy a 1-Series in this game ever ever.

Passed the 50% tonight. No price car!!! I'm working on it since 2nd January, 5 to 10 hours a day (where has my social life gone???). Halls nearly complete; all tracks, all the best cars, including the black test cars, Polyphony, R8 and Bentley. But now the Missions are waiting ....

Yeah, the New York mission is hard. I tried about 10-15 times but the closest I can get is 8 seconds. So frustrating ... haven't been into Mission Hall since.

I think the key to the New York missions is the fourth turn after the main straight. You get a series of three turns and then a left one; you can cut sharply through it at high speed if you 'shave' the inside of the turn. Then you have another right and then a decisive left where you need to keep your speed high, as the longest straight is coming up. This alone can get you three seconds a lap.

If your gap from the lead car at the end of lap 1 is over 20 seconds, you better start over.

The double turn at the end of the second straight is another point where good execution will net you a couple of seconds over the opposition. The inner route is the best, so try to brake early (slow in, fast out).

That's what I said after playing the 1-series demo too! haha :D
