What Phone Do You Have?

I am now the somewhat apprehensive owner of this:

inq.jpg

I was a little scared of the fact that it's not a proper brand, but to be honest the free stuff was too good to pass up. If I upgraded to this instead of a Sony Ericsson equivalent, I got unlimited t'internet added to the deal. And since I already have a K800i as a backup, I thought I might as well risk it. If it's crap, I'll just keep using what I have now and enjoy the freebies. Particularly as the other free SEs are actually worse than what I have already.

IMO, if a phone serves you well(under your criteria), you've got a good deal. Brands don't really mean much to me.
I would've done the same:tup:

Yesterday I got a new phone.. the GO phones.. I use to have normal monthly pay, but now I realized I pay too much for something i barely use. So I got this

NOKIA 2610
Nothing special really, I am not into cell phone technology. I do not play games on cell phones, I do not listen to music, I don't even take useless pics.. or IM. I use sepereate devices for all the functions.

It does not feature a lot of memory, or good graphics, but calls seem clear and I have more bars then on my other phone. It gets me a call if I need it, so its a good phone for cheap!

It's pretty good for being a phone camera but KILL Nokia for not making the Photo light usable as a torch...

Ahh, I had the same problem with a Moto V3X. Mine had a menu option in the camera mode for keeping it on solidly while in camera mode, which is what I did when I wanted to use it as one. Does yours just act as a flash, then?

EDIT

Also, a little update. I've decided that, while the iNQ is good in a tacky feature sort of way, the K800i is just far, far, far better. Google maps on this one, for example, is actually useless. Somehow it manages to be slower than the SE (despite being able to receive the faster HSDPA signal) and doesn't have any way of working out where you are on the map, which pretty much was the only useful feature in there. Flicking through pictures is also pretty horrid. Where the K800i was a rapid little navigator, this seems to fumble around loading stuff. Urgh. And the browser is pretty limited too - it's a right pain to navigate the pages, and again it takes ages. And it doesn't seem to be able to understand that I don't want the bloody T9 dictionary on :/ And its bluetooth doesn't like my sat nav. Or my laptop. And the battery life is pretty awful (about 1.5 days, meaning the only feasible option is to charge it every night. And the camera makes it look like I'm living in a cave. And it takes ages to focus. And it takes the picture after the shutter sound, which is EXACTLY when you move your hands to look the photo; meaning that every photo is blurred to hell. And it's decided to put ALL of my MSN buddies into the contacts page, meaning I have 130 something useless email addresses in the way of people I actually might want to phone. And I can't get on with the keyboard. And nobody seems to be able to hear anything I say. And the alarm doesn't have a snooze mode. And it has Facebook, which is something I really don't need to be distracted with. And the headphones are crap. And activating the shutter button for the camera feels like pressing a rock into a slab of concrete. And it doesn't hang up when I slide it downwards. And for the life of me I can't get last.fm to work on it. And MSN tries to con me into thinking that nobody is online, right until the split second I sign out and about 30 appear (seriously, it happens).

And yet I forgive it for all of these things because it's new and pretty... Well, no I don't - I'm just lazy. Meh, I'll probably stick the SIM back in the K800i and enjoy my freebies as an 'iNQ user'. Until that breaks, and then I actually will have to use this disastrous mess. What a horrible thought.

i have a sony ericcson k800i, great phone but after you buy it and use it for a few days the features seem very limited.

Right, another little update.

The iNQ is clearly manufactured by the devil. It lulls me into a false sense of security that it's working fine, and then randomly decides to lose all signal in places that I know have plenty when using my SE. Therefore making me miss all of my calls and texts. It lies about its battery life too, but it does it in a peculiar way. The little battery meter reads about 60% (i.e, still green) and yet it'll still die. What's stranger is that it, once it reaches that level, it starts vibrating every now and again for seemingly no reason. It doesn't say 'low battery' or anything, it just vibrates. It's like the phone has all battery messages under hostage and they're trying to warn me about the low battery trap I'm about to fall into. Weird...

I've given up using the camera completely. Mainly because it's completely and utterly useless. As said before, the shutter button is horrid, and the pictures it takes look like a cutting from a day in the life of Amy Winehouse.

It's got slower too. Typing anything inside the web browser now takes a year, and almost deliberately misses out random characters that I've typed. Earlier I wanted to find one of my friend's facebook profiles, and I had to type in their name to do it. It took me 20 minutes to type in 'Elliott Webb' - a process that wasn't helped by the fact that it decided to close the application without warning me just after I'd battled to get to the first letter B in his surname. This annoyed me. So I threw it at a wall.

Oh, and Last.fm doesn't work on it. Not properly anyway. Turns out it just scrobbles, and I'm sorry, but what's the point in that?! I want to listen to music, not inform everyone what it is I'm listening to.

Never in my life have I had a phone that I've disliked this much. I'm so unspeakably frustrated with the thing that I'm contemplating running over it. If it was any other phone I'd sell it on eBay, but I don't want to be responsible for ruining some poor sod's life.

So, as of now I am officially back on a K800i. If you want to feel better about your SE, mu51im, I'll stick this cheap piece of tat in an envelope and send it your way so you can see how much better you really have it.

There are always a couple of masochists, you know - you might save someone's day!

I'm actually suffering from the same thing as you and that's the fear of the K800i going belly up. It'll be hard to find another model with the same mix of features and build quality as this one. Something tells the fact that I've had it for 19 months now and the battery still lasts nine or ten days with moderate use.

Woooh i just got a new phone :)

I'll let you guys know what it is when i get home and have a chance to snap some pics

Edit* Ok here it is :sly:

Nokia 6220 Classic. I've outfitted the phone with an 8GB memory card so it earns the affectionate title from me, Baby N95.

The closest thing I've found so far is this:

200711070950K660i_vier_seiten_380.jpg

Which is basically a K800i in a cheap suit with a worse camera. If mine breaks I'll hunt one of those down. Or there's the G502, which is pretty much the same as above, but with a nasty keyboard too.

My teacher went from a K800i to a C902 and reckons it was the worst decision he ever made. Apparently (his at least) is really buggy. So I'm stuffed there too.

Oh and despite what I said, my lack of cash beat my moral values in the end :P

Sounds like I'm screwed, seeing that I was considering the C902 myself. Then again I've heard of people using it without any problems so it seems to be hit and miss. If I had the money I'd play a bit of Russian roulette, go get a C902 and retire the K800i in full working condition, keep both if the new one works and pull the old one out of the mothballs (and sell the new one) if it doesn't.

LG Voyager VX10000 👍

The Good:
-Decent service most of the time, really good service in cities and malls.
-Browser is fast if you have good enough service
-Texting is a breeze on the big keys on the keypad
-Touch screen vibrate is very cool and makes it easier to use
-TV!!
-Not very heavy but not so light that I forget it
-Good battery life
-Charges very quick
-Nice bright displays
-Games work well like Tetris

The Bad:
-Camera is all but useless anywhere other than in direct daylight
-Can't adjust brightness of either screen
-Touch screen seems to have a sort of vague depth that makes texting a so-so experience.
-Dropped calls all the time
-Phone will arbitrarily shut off around 2 or 3 times a month
-Bottom half of my keypad's backlights are shot after only 8 months
-Is a tad bulky but keyboard makes up for it
-Texting can be a bit frustrating if messaging more than one person at a time
-If using mobile IM no sound is heard when a message arrives

The Ugly:
-Chrome strip around the outside is very delicate
-Buttons on front are ugly
-Inside screen looks compromised by large speaker bars

Overall I love it :)👍

I currently have a Blackberry 7290:

I'm considering replacing it with the Cingular 8525:

The reviews seem quite impressive, but I have not yet found anyone who actually owns one. If you do, please let me know what you think of it.

I thought I would wait for the iPhone, but there are so many unkowns & uncertainties that I could end up waiting for six months only to find out it isn't what I need or even want.

Well looks like I wont be waiting for either anymore.

I needed to renew my cell service with Cingular so after doing some research on deals, I was given a recommendation to look at www.letstalk.com who broker cellular contracts for all the major carriers. I was really amazed on just how good a deal they were willing to give me. After some negotiating over the phone, for signing a 2-year agreement with Cingular/ATT through LetsTalk for no more than anywhere else, they gave me all of the following for free:
UPDATED: They upgraded at no cost the Motorola H500 to a much better headset, Plantronics Discovery 655

Definitely consider checking out their promotions next time you are renewing or changing cell service. It also pays to negotiate over the phone wih them, as that's how we got the best deal. Although for a little less hassle, their internet deals are quite impressive on their own.

So once again, I'm in the market for a new phone... so far here is my short list:
  1. Palm Pre
  2. HTC Touch Pro 2
  3. HTC G2
  4. Upcoming Android phones by Samsung

I've been sportin' the Nokia N85 for just over a month now.

gsmarena_043.jpg

  • HSDPA 850/19000/2100 3G
  • A-GPS, WiFi, uPnP, Bluetooth with A2DP, micro USB
  • 2.6-inch OLED screen
  • 8GB MicroSD storage (10,000+ photos, just under 2 hours of VGA recording)
  • 369 MHz ARM 11 CPU, Symbian Series 60 FP2
  • 5MP auto-focus camera with dual LED flash.
  • Composite TV-out, 3.5mm audio, FM transmitter, accelerometer, navi-wheel, push to talk, physical volume controls, blah blah.
I am happy with the N85. It is such a departure from previous Nseries devices that were heavy and large. I liken it to blackend out sports car with it's badges removed. It may be unsuspicious, but it's not something you want to mess with. The N85 is a good hold-over for me until Nokia gets around to it's touch screen devices.

Somehow I could spend decent amount of money on Gaming, and PC stuff.. yet Somehow I dont know why some of the people, also including my cousin and society will spend so much on CELL phone, and never use more then half of the features it comes with.

Because phones are shiny.

Because unlike a PS3, a phone gets used constantly. But many of us that drop lots of money on devices such as these will use most of the features. Not a direct example. but my iPod touch cost as much as my PS3, more than my desktop, as much as one of my project cars, more than the current race tires I have, or other random items. But it is used constantly.

I got a used Samsung SCH-A930 a couple weeks ago. I won't be using it too much so I looked for something with good reviews, that looked good, and went a little beyond basic. The only complaint I can make is since it's a bit old, it could be a bit thinner but it doesn't bother me all that much.

Yeah, but I did not say ALL the people ;), it's people like my cousin. He always buys a new Phone every year, and all he does it text and call.

Or, I am an old fashion guy? haha

Because you can't casually leave your £500 graphics card on your desk at work/school for the world to admire ;)

But then you could say the same about anything. I know some people that buy insanely high-spec PCs and then just run word and FireFox on them 90% of the time. Myself included, actually - I could have knocked the "Pro" bit off the name of my laptop and saved myself £400. It'd still run all the usual bits and bobs just as well, but when I occasionally want to play TDU on it I'd be stuffed.

I took the bull by the horns and bought the C902 a month and a half ago.

Either mrs. Fortune was with me or something else is going on but this thing is great. I was hearing stories of the battery lasting one day and the phone going nuts over everything, my own experience shows an easy ten days out of one charge and not a single problem despite it having been on 24/7 since the day I took it out of the box. The build quality leaves nothing to be desired, the sound quality kills everything else I've had this far, it packs a 5 MP camera with good image quality and a Walkman player without the Walkman logo. It was expensive as hell though but certainly worth it.
