What Phone Do You Have?

Almost too much for a lot of them. Whats the data rate on Verizon these days? I know AT&T was charging $35 a month, I think, but that seems to be the going rate for most companies now.

Its looking like I may replace my Motorola RAZR V3m with an LG Lotus, but I haven't decided yet.

Thing is, I'm not likely to get a better deal on service rates, and if Sprint is going to be cutting them later this month (still a rumor), its only going to get better. We'll see. There aren't many good phones available on their service that doesn't require a bunch of add-on fees, and unless AT&T is willing to wave the cost of a decent phone (or significantly cut my monthly rates)... I'll be sticking with Sprint.

How could anyone get use to that phone? It's just a square. :P

Well, it cant read bigger than 2gb. Actually it has crashed 3 times with the 2gb in it. It just blacks out, comes back and sometimes the memory is wiped and you have to remove it and put it back in again. It is quite a bad phone at times...

Got a new Blackberry tonight to replace my ageing 7290. The new one is a 8700 which my buddy scored from work since he is a head of IT and the company just switched from AT&T to Verizon. Apparently they were just going to throw out all the phones so he grabbed me one.

So far I love it.

Oh boy
The more I use it, the more I like this blackberry. I can't see myself without one now. Going back to a "normal" phone would be like me going back to windows

The QWERTY keyboard is actually really nice, and very easy to use. I was really surprised by the model I tinkered with at Sprint for a bit. Problem is, even as my contract is "up" at the end of the month, they're still going to charge the the new-user price of $99 for it.

NO.

I'll probably end up with a Samsung Rant instead, or I may venture over to AT&T if they'll give me a better deal on a phone/minutes/text combo.

I actually quite like the LG Lotus. Anyone know if they are avaliable in the UK.
I'm considering the idea of a phone with a QWERTY but for now I'll have to stick with my K800i

Yeah, me too. It's upgrade time for me, and I was looking at this:

But despite the adverts telling me it 'blends work and play', I'm not convinced. There's not a lot about that that says 'fun', really.

I'm a little stuck as to what to upgrade to, though. Like you, I've got a K800i, and the only logical upgrade I can think of is a C902. But that'd add 50% to the cost of my contract, and I don't really want to do that. Also, I want to stick with 3, which narrows down my choice a fair bit. I'm keeping this as long as possible, but I've got a suspicion it's starting to die on me (and I'm well outside the warranty by now).

Haha nothing says fun more than the colour grey and the words work email being shown on the screen.

Since its a CDMA phone, my guess is that it is US-only. Unless Lotus has a surprise up their sleeve for me. I'm usually jealous of the HTC phones you guys usually get across the pond, because we usually get the leftovers. They're supposed to have some kind of "budget" QWERTY handset coming out in the spring, but there hasn't been any word as to where its going.

They're guessing $150 for the handset here in the US on either Verizon or Sprint, but thats all I know.

That one. Problem is, at that price, they're talking about bringing the new fancy Palm phone to market around there. I'd have the Palm instead.

I actually looked at that phone a few months ago, very nice looking but the UK price at the time was £250. We pay too much over here.

Has anyone seen the T-Mobile G1 with Google?

Seen? Yes. Touched? Yes.

In summation: Its a decent iPhone competitor, but the problem is that you're burdened with the T-Mobile carrier agreement here in the US.

The current smart phone race otherwise looks like this...

Apple iPhone > HTC/Google G1 > Blackberry Storm > HTC Touch Pro/Fuze > Samsung Instinct

Problem is, I believe the Palm Pre will remove the iPhone from the top spot. At least until Apple *possibly* gets around to doing the long-rumored "iPhone Nano." Valued priced, high-functionality phones are likely going to drive the market forward from now on, and I believe both Palm and HTC have the corner on that here in the US.

Nokia 6500 Slide (crappy S40 series...)
But there's a Carl Zeiss camera on it.

Just out of interest, how are you finding it overall? The 6500 slide is one of my in-budget possible upgrades. I was looking at the 6600 flip until I read that the automatic open thing dies very easily (and, let's be honest, it's the only interesting bit of the phone...).

Tis' a metal cover ... they were only little bangers too :indiff:

Haha, fair enough. I do understand the indestructibility of Nokias (although to be fair, my K800i could give them a run for their money).

Mmm, I'm paying close attention to that. It won't have the screaming-schoolgirl appeal of the iPhone, but then it doesn't have an Apple logo on the back so that's to be expected. I took my TX to school once and nobody had a clue what the hell it was. "It's a Palm" ... "A what?"

I like that. I don't know what the situation elsewhere is, but around here the iPhone has picked up a bit of an image problem already. Every spoiled 14 year old seems to have one in my school, and not really anybody else. Thanks to O2's wonderful price plan, it's turned into the object that rich parents throw at their kids to make them happy. My friend has one on, and I quote, 'The most expensive price plan'. He doesn't know how much that price plan is because, put simply, his dad pays for it for him. I informed him that it was £75 a month the other day. He shrugged. Why am I friends with these people?

I'm also liking that proper keyboard. I think anyone who's used a train station ticket machine on a -2 degree January morning will agree that touch screens aren't really something you can rely on.

.
Can't beat an E770V , I could mill the thing at walls and play football with it .. It never broke when i tried to break it haha ... but water damage messed it all up :grumpy:.

I am now the somewhat apprehensive owner of this:

I was a little scared of the fact that it's not a proper brand, but to be honest the free stuff was too good to pass up. If I upgraded to this instead of a Sony Ericsson equivalent, I got unlimited t'internet added to the deal. And since I already have a K800i as a backup, I thought I might as well risk it. If it's crap, I'll just keep using what I have now and enjoy the freebies. Particularly as the other free SEs are actually worse than what I have already.
