Instead, you could go for the Nokia 500. It's faster, new Symbian Anna with Belle update to come anytime soon. The price difference between the C5-03 isn't that big either. In Malaysia it's about MYR100 so that could be around USD$40....

I used to have the mini version then changed to an N900, much better. Symbian phones have gone down hill since the N95 and with Nokia now dealing with Microsoft, Symbian will soon have very little support.

I still have my N70, the phone had loads of ram for what it was at the time. It can run N-gage games on it and also get TomTom sat nav on it.

Yes, it has gone downhill tremendously. Thank god now they are with Microsoft because that WP7 is awesome!

I've recently talked to a lad from Nokia and he said Symbian will not die because the upcoming Symbian Belle will run many more entry to mid-level smartphones much like the current Nokia 500. The S40 will still run to power the entry level phones. Obviously, Symbian still has a major share in Nokia. The WP7, obviously is still new and will stay with Nokia for a longer time to come.

Unfortunately, the one that we're seeing at the end of the road is the MeeGo that powers the N9. Somehow Nokia is no longer going to make use of it and that was the first and the last...

I think it is a bad thing they are with Microsoft, now Nokia will become nothing but a phone manufacturer like HTC. They will be like any generic phone maker.

S40 is not symbian as you may know. They will use Symbian until they can make cheaper Windows phones.

Shame about MeeGo, Nokia dropped it so Intel is no longer going to carry it as they would have done. New name seems to be Nemo which I like and will install on my phone when it is fully working as well as Android and also Kubuntu.

I'm personally waiting on the 28nm smartphones, that will make a huge difference to the smartphone market. I'm hoping for a phone that will run Android as well as Ubuntu, seen demos of OMAP4 doing that. Maybe there will be options of phones with Android and also Windows 8.

If only the downside, yes but at least it's not going to be as bad as Android which is now... Every-single-where!

Yeah, the S40 isn't Symbian but based on a Symbian. I may have jumbled up my previous post. Still though, as I said the Belle is coming so this is not the end of the road for Symbian like as said by the Nokia guy.

It is no doubt the Windows Phone will get cheaper but that'd take at least another 5 years. I read somewhere that Windows Phone needs a phone that has at least 5MP camera, 1GHz or more processor, minimum 1GB RAM and many more that I couldn't recall... By today's standard, those spec of phone will cost about MYR800+ here in Malaysia so I wouldn't call it cheap yet. Maybe in years to come but certainly not now.

Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220.

It's quite a nice phone - not overly elaborate, which means people like me who only need calling and texting can figure the thing out. Simplicity is beauty in my eyes!

Well I wouldn't call the Banter as a dumbphone. More like an entry-level smartphone... Talking about phone bill, if you have a WiFi capability on your phone you don't need to pay a lot of phone bill for the internet. Nowadays, at least here in Malaysia WiFi connections and routers are everywhere!

Galaxy S. Fantastic phone I love it. I tried rooting and flashing custom rom with it until all the files suddenly went corrupt. Amazingly Bell took it and fixed it and I now have a new phone although with my old battery. Currently reinstalling all my apps again.
 
I broke my HD2.. :(

Upgraded to a Galaxy S II so I don't have to worry about another upgrade for a few years :D
 
I've had a few. My first one was a Nokia something something...forget the model. Then I had a Samsung A-411 (<3 that phone, my favourite I've ever used). I've also got a Samsung CX something something, forgot the exact model on that. The latter two are flip tops.

I'm looking into getting an iPhone, or an Android phone, currently leaning more towards iPhone since Android is basically a knock off version of iOS. Cheating bastards.
 
Currently still using my Sony Ericsson Xperia ray, because it's an awesome little phone. I've messed around with it a lot, with ADWLauncher and stuff...

For the techy people who can't be bothered to look it up, it's a 3.2" touchscreen with a 1.0GHz single core, Android 2.3.4 and, erm...can't remember the rest, but it does like Minecraft! :D

Samsung Galaxy S.

The old blackberry I had was on its way out (being held together by hockey tape), and Dad just switched to an iPhone recently, so he had the Galaxy S in his company that nobody was using. I promptly changed that.

I absolutely love it, the only thing I miss is being able to text while walking easier, it was easier on the blackberry with the physical keyboard. There's also BBM, it was nice but isn't a killer app and I don't care about it much really. Absolutely love this phone though, it's made my iPod touch obselete, I used the iPod as my alarm, music and web browsing (wi-fi) when I had the blackberry, but the Galaxy S is better at all of those things.
 
I currently use the Iphone 3g. Had it since it came out many moons ago. I hate it. Its slow, many apps i can not use. HTC on its way very soon when i can decide what model.

The only issue, is really the only reason I'd want to use BBM is because my girlfriend has a blackberry and it was a little easier to communicate on bbm (we could see if the other person had read the message yet, easier to send pictures, files, etc etc.), but she doesn't have a data plan, so she can't use WhatsApp or anything similar.

Again, it's not enough of a draw to me to put up with how much worse the blackberry was than the Galaxy S.

BBM still needs a data plan to work though mate...
