What Phone Do You Have?

Nokia Lumina 920.

Thing is big, heavy, but all hat weight is there for a reason. It just has a solid feel to it in your hand.

The battery is enormous, pushing up to 72 hours of music playback apparently. I haven't really tested this but I had it on Bluetooth for 6 hours straight, and then playing through a stereo through aux for 4 hours today. I've also used the browser for a few hours and uploaded a few pictures since I last took it off charge at around 10:30AM yesterday. All of that activity and it's just now gone into power saver which kicks in at 10%.

And the two speakers on the bottom of this thing are phenominal. I've never heard this kind of clarity from any mobile device. It really is fantastic.

The 8.7MP camera is just....unbelievable. I mean, really, truly spectacular for something that isn't a dedicated camera. Great exposure levels, fantastic focus range, and the 8.7MP images it turns out are massive. It's also got the camera button on the side which makes taking photos with one hand much easier and less risky for the phone.

The display is just....really amazing. I've got several videos loaded onto it just to show off how clear and vibrant this display is when my friends ask me about the phone.

And onto the OS:

WP8 honestly tops Android. And it takes a lot for me to say that given how often I talked up Android. Don't get me wrong, Android is still an awesome OS, and if you like to tinker a lot it's probably the best for you, but WP8 provides most of the functionality I'd ever managed to squeeze out of Android straight out of the box. And it all being built into the device means that it just works. And all this functionality is underneath a very simple, very user friendly UI with customizations options somewhere in between iOS and Android, but leaning more toward the Android side. Live tiles functions a lot like widgets, but again, being built into the OS and being so simple they have virtually no impact on the battery and work almost flawlessly. The only actual complaint I have is that you can't copy/paste the image URL from the browser and you have to find some other way to get it.

Nokia Lumia 900, I didn't want to be a sheep and go for the iPhone...

I wish I had now, because the apps on this are teribble... Doesn't even have GTP. What is life?

That's not really to blame on WP. Give it some time like Android and App support should be just as heavy. If Nokia and HTC are putting this kind of hardware behind WP then they clearly have confidence in it to go somewhere.

The original Droid X. Rooted and everything :D.

The screen is cracked but it still is perfect to me lol. I'd much rather have that than an iPhone.

I still have my trusty old S2.

Installed Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on it yesterday, feels like a new phone. :D

Cheers Shaun.

Official extended battery for the S3 coming out soon, 3000mAh.

Careful with updates for any phone (well actually there's no way you can be apart from not doing them), it can wreak havoc on battery performance, wifi or gps function, signal pickup and holding, these are computers, and like desktop computers, things that should be unrelated and not break can break. All in the pursuit of a few measly features you may not use much.

Still with my S2, looking forward to getting something new from mid, um, this year, that has a good resolution/PPI, as the 480x800 is the weak point in the S2.

Yeah I know about the risks involved, that's why I always have the original software on hand in case something goes wrong. Besides I like to fiddle.

The software is supposedly Samsung's that has been given to the carriers so they can load it up with their crap and then release to their customers.

It sure feels like official software as it runs smooth and after a few days now I haven't struck one problem. Everything works just as well if not better than before. It does consume slightly more battery though, not enough to be annoying but I have noticed it ever so slightly. I'm guessing it's due to Jellybean being more RAM intensive than what ICS was on my phone. I'll stick with it for a week or so and if no problems arise it stays.

Nice to have no carrier bloatware on the phone though.

Cheers Shaun.

The more I have been looking into phones, while waiting for mine I really don't understand why someone who wasn't rich would get a iphone. The phone isn't any better then other makes however its just more expensive. You can get the HTC one x plus or the Samsung galaxy s3 for £25, the only Iphone you can get for the same price is the iphone 4s and that is now considered slightly out of date. The iphone 5 is £10 a month more expensive.

I will agree that the design of the iphone is very nice and 5 years ago that was a huge selling point, however now all other manufacturers produce equally nice looking phones.

I thought the same... Until I got an iPhone. Personally, iOS is much cleaner and nicer to use than android, plus it can generally run more apps with better optimisation. And for me, all the new, decent phones are way too big, and my Sensation would regularly fall out of my pocket, a problem I don't have with the iPhone.

I have an ipod touch and whilst I agree that IOS is very clean it lacks the features of android (widgets) and many of personalisation option. I guess its a matter of personal opinion on whether you prefer a clean operating system or one with many more options however can seem more cluttered. If the price was the same for both then I would completely agree that they are like for like phones however the price difference is what I think sets them apart, for that much more you should expect a significantly better product, and in my opinion apple isn't any better then other big brand names.

The same applies to the latest model.

You could say the same applies to all apple devices, they always use last generation hardware, however because the software is only used on their devices they can optimize it very well, hence is it the same as speed and roughly the same benchmarks as non apple devices.

Nokia Lumia 800. Just wondering if anyone else here is on o2 Pay as you go and what deal they're on, because the one I'm on gives me 500 texts, 100mb data and 75 minutes which is great, but it costs £10 which isn't great, the deal I previously had on Orange PAYG was far better (400 texts, 100mb internet for free)... it's just their customer service which forced me to move to o2.

I currently own a Nokia Lumia 620 white in colour. It's a very nice phone, very stylish, powerful, rocking Windows Phone 8 and so far has been fantastic! Simply put, it's an affordable Windows Phone 8 device out there 👍

..the white seems to smudge too much.

From now on, I will only buy white phone if the material is of glossy. If it's matte or rubberized-finish, I will definitely avoid them as they're very easy to get dirt and everything on them. My matte white Lumia 620 has already got some stains :indiff:

Black 64GB iPhone 5... Somehow my first ever smartphone. Though I owned/own the 4th and 5th gen iPod Touches, so I'm quite familiar with iOS.
