I FINALLY got my Windows Phone- Nokia Lumia 1020!

Finally! Another who just got a Windows phone and it's a Nokia to boot. I just got the Lumia 1520 in bright glossy red. What color is yours and how do you like it so far? My camera rocks, I can only imagine what yours must be like.

I got mine in the yellow version. My Camera is awesome and Nokia made a good job leaving everything simple- I had no problem getting around it and after a couple of hours, I feel like I've had it for longer.

Cool. I agree, the phone is pretty easy to get around in. If you haven't done so already, just wait until you take a panoramic photo with that cam! Wow is all I have to say.

If you're wanting to go that big, think about the Nokia Lumia 1520 as well. It's windows 8 os and has better specs than the samsung note 3, why I went with it instead of an andriod based model. Just something to think about.
I've not read such good things about Windows Phones. Always been a bit of a Samsung / Android fanboy as well.

Having looking into the 1520 a bit, I got 2 major problems with it.

1. I'm a bit iffy on the Windows 8 Mobile platform. The few times I've used it (friends phones), it has felt a bit sluggish, though having a beautiful interface.

2. My service provider, NTT Docomo, does not have any Nokia phones. Although, this could be irrelevant if I move to Italy in the coming month or so, then I'll be on Vodafone which does have the 1520.

Have iPhone 4s 16gb, sony experia miro (good 2gb mem), Htc wildifre s and samsung tocco lite and all very good to use, had blackberry but went of as signal for wifi etc so crap and slow ;):)

I upgraded from an andriod platform phone running ice cream sandwich, and it was not going to get the jellybean update. It was a Motorola Atrix 2 phone. So imagine how I must feel about how much faster the Nokia 1520 is than the moto.
There's no sluggishness to me whatsoever. It moves fluidly through all page transitions and tasks. Email is a thing of beauty to me as I use it quite frequently throughout the day at work. It's very smooth.
I have yet to bog the phone down with multi tasks that it feels sluggish. If your friends phone was something other than the 1520, perhaps that's the reason for it feeling sluggish? Remember, the 1520 has the quad core snapdragon processor in it running at 2.2Ghz, plus the amount of ram at it's dosposal makes for very fast operations.

I have no opinion on your service providers in your region, or soon to be region.
Your best bet is to find one at a local store and play with it. Put it through it's paces if they let you.
I have a wi-fi enabled router here at home that I will connect to with my phone. I then have unlimited data at my disposal, plus it's very fast broadband cable running upwards of 50Mbps. My phone takes to that like a duck to water. Fast, very very fast.

There's only one issue I've had so far with it and that's the touch screen sensitivity. I'm sure it's just me not quite used to it yet but I find myself double tapping or inadvertently tapping a tile and opening it. I've turned down the sensitivity to help eliminate some of it.

Best wishes to you in whatever phone you choose to get.

Haha yeah, I need to download an app for it though, they removed the feature on newer phones

It should be the same app for you as for me. Search for Nokia Panorama in the app store. There's a few other camera apps that I will try out as well.

iPhone 5 for now.

I have bought into the whole Apple infrastructure thing, with Macs, iPads, Airport Extreme and that unsung hero, the APPLE TV.

Love Airplay, Photo Stream and most importantly, when things go wrong, "one throat to choke".

Still got my trusty old Galaxy S2.
Installed Kit-Kat 4.4.2 on it the other day, runs very well.
Will probably upgrade to the latest Nexus when the time comes.

My wife just upgraded from her 4S to a 5S because her battery was starting to suck and as she uses some medical apps at work, she needs to be sure it will make it through the day.

Whilst at the Verizon store I browsed around at the phones but ultimately decided that I still quite like my Droid RAZR, despite it being just over 2 years old. Or maybe because it's only 2 years old...

Nokia N8. Why did I want a phone with Symbian so badly I do not know.

At least its camera is decent.
You are not alone bro. Kinda sucks to be on an obsolete OS. But like you said, at least you've got a beast of a camera. :mischievous:

I thought of the Lumia 1020 to replace my N8 but maybe I'll get it when the price is more affordable, which means in a couple of years. For now, I plan on downgrading from my Nokia N8 to a Motorola KRZR. Because style over substance.

Which reminds me, you have those super cool flip phones in Japan right? Are they still as popular as before?

Do you mean the flip phones that hsve the 90゜ rotatable screen?

I decided to get a Note 3 and picked it up today. I am absolutely loving this thing. Hopefully I'll get my job in Europe so I can recieve a second one from my company lol.

Same here except I'm on (CM 10.2) 4.3.1.

I'll be on the market very soon, probably won't get the latest and greatest, but something larger and more support in the dev scene.

@Bluntified yeah I was running that exact same mod for a while, runs well.
Only problem for me when I do decide to upgrade is size, for me the size of the S2 is about perfect. Some phones now are just getting too big IMO.

Yeah, that and flip phones in general because they're just so cool. Are they still popular in Japan or is it all smartphones now like everywhere else?

A lot of business men are still using flip phones! They are the same as they were a few years ago. So, if you are referring to the flip phones from a few years ago then they are still cool!

Samsung Galaxy S3 White has sone issue I updated to new jellybean. My ps3 doesn't recognize it and my internet browser's keep going to cache page's even tho I've try fix it few time's I think it's the update.
