What returning features will hold back GT6?

Basically life and movement in the track environment, something that makes you think it's a living breathing race track. Not an abandoned one that you've turned up to race at, the feeling you get a lot of the time with GT5. They're deserted.

OMG I'm playing the game right now and the whole 50 step process of putting a car you won/bought/gift in your garage is so STUPID!!!. Also why does it need to cut to a scene of the front end of the car after I bought it? I just got done looking at a nice presentation at the dealership, just give me the damn car!

I swear this game is more of a gallery than a game and I know PD is gonna continue this s*** and even add more steps to this unneeded process! I know it, I just ****ing know it!

Added to list.

Yes, that was always one of my major gripes as well. The whole "ticket" and "delivery" nonsense are just artificial features that PD implemented because of a bad case of the stupids. GTauto is the same. There is no reason whatsoever to have to leave your garage to do an oil change. Just another way to make the game longer than it really is.

^Yeah I don't get what this is suppose to add to a game like this. Just let me pay for it at my garage, show me a loading bar or something and quit wasting my time.

I'm sure they thought it was a 'touch' of realism to enhance the process that just ended up frustrating the player.

This is what happens when developers try to enhance the "realism" of the logistical portion of a game instead of enhancing the realism of the actual gameplay portion.

Not restricted to GT5 or PD. You can see the same issue in many other current gen games. Just because something is a "neat" idea (think: that damn cellphone in GTAIV), doesn't mean it will be fun for the hundreds of hours the end user spends playing the game.

If they just included the option to disable things like these, it wouldn't be as bad, but giving the gamer freedom is not the Japanese way. Same reason you aren't "allowed" to purchase a certain car at the dealership until they "decide" it's ok.

No clouds at noon. That makes tracks look dull.

Wasting your life in menus, black screens, useless confirmation animations and whatnot.

Duplicates. Those will never ever leave.

NFS-like racing in multiplayer. Can be fixed the iracing way, but PD won't do it.

No real life rally tracks. Expect the 4-lane gt5 tracks to stay.

And sadly, oil change.

Oh man the rally just made me mad because I had so much fate after playing the GT5 demo before release that rally would be sooooooo kickass with new physics to find out it's worst than GT2 and on top of that, the 4 lane tracks are just dumb and add nothing to the experience.

I have little fate that will change.

Also, ^^^added.

Offline:

1. Forced driver aids like Skid Recovery Force. That should be up to the user not PD. See latest seasonals.

2. No adjustable AI. So many different driver skill levels to not have this.

3. Performance Points for offline TT's, Race Events that don't take into account tire choice, driver aids or tuning(using fully stock cars).

4. Lack of customizable Race Events. Field choice etc.

The 300km engine break-in. A useless feature which serves only to irritate people who wish to compete in several events restricted by Engine Power or Performance Points without constantly downtuning by 1HP every time.

Good point. Ignorant and unrealistic, along with most every "tuning" gimmick. You'd think at some point, PD would hire someone that ACTUALLY KNOWS ABOUT CARS. :dunce:

Broken qualifying system (lose your time when you go to the garage and adjust your car) and the lack of a proper looking qualifying order (should display the combatants in order with their time beside their name)

Lack of rolling starts at all tracks.

Not enough sorting options in online lobbies, including HP/Weight/PP at the same time. Lack of the ability for the host to bring one car, tuned, and have everyone use the same car, so his garage becomes the recommended garage for the game.

Lack of some sort of online player ranking system and the ability to use this as a lobby filter. This is key for GT6 IMO but won't make the cut for fear of making the game appealing only to the diehards. The fact that it can all be optional will be lost on PD as it is with SRF on Seasonals for example.

Arcade Mode: Once you're in the race track, not being able to change number of laps without completely starting over. Need better control of AI strength while at the race track.
Online: In addition to online lobbies, I would like to see PDI structured race events with preset start times. Races would provide the cars to choose from and be similar to the variety of A-Spec or Seasonal events.

As has been mentioned, things will change. Hell, quite a few changed even within GT5 itself during the past two years.

Frankly, I hope that they do as they always have done, that way all of those who incessantly complain about things like the Japanese bias will just go away and play something else = everyone happy.

You do understand that if they (PD) don't adapt with the times, there will eventually be no players, and by extension, no game period, correct?

I don't think the series will fade and lose its players over time, not really. Simply because any group on a forum is by default a vocal minority.

Very few happy fans will post regularly to say how content they are with a game, wheras the ones who feel they have a cause, will continue to push that.

PD already have changed their games over the course of the past five gamesand and as GT5 was the first to allow online updates, they have certainly proven a willingness to concede where they can. I just think their concept of change is perhaps not as all embracing as a lot of people feel it should be. Well that shouldn't be news to any of us.

PD are also pretty well known for not checking in on how other games do their thing, although there have been a few hints that stuff like the XP might have been due to Forza's example. So I think changes will be forthcoming alright, I just wish that people wouldn't keep trying to change the game into what they personally want it to be. That's tantamount to people being attracted to each other and starting a relationship based on what they are like, then trying to change each other into something they prefer - never works.

I agree that some new things could be good, but at the day's end, it's PD's game and they have done a fine job of keeping it good so far. No game is going to be perfect for everyone, I tend to take the rough with the smooth and balance the whole. If I'm still playing it almost thirty months down the road, then I think that they have done very well.

Starting every race mid-pack. Or to put it another way, the lack of qualifying. I know it was implemented to show off that GT can have 12-16 on-track rivals, but the lack of qualifying for a game that tries to be realistic is just mind boggling. Especially when it was decent in GT4.

Problem is having 24h races themselves, considering I don't know of a single circuit-based category or race in which an individual driver does more than 6 hours straight.

This may be interesting to explore. Suppose you are required to have a couple of bobs run different legs and you're only allowed to run one shift.

I think I'd enjoy that. Especially if one of your bobs messed up somewhere and you have to make up time.

Do other games even do that?

Just read your post OP.

Friend, the best fix for you at the moment is.... FORZA MOTORSPORT 4!!

*Ex GT fan here*

shhhhh... the delusioned fanbois will tar and feather you!

I would, only if I had a 360, sadly that's the only reason I want to buy one :guilty:

I'm rooting for GT6 but only because I've stuck with the series every since the launch of GT1 and I can't abandon it every though I criticized it so much lol.
