What soap do you use? (Men)

I normally use either of these two:

I do use other body washes/shower gels occasionally, but I use Lynx most of the time.

Nothing specific really, I prefer bar soap to liquid soap usually, though sometimes I like to take baths with liquid soap and a sponge, especially if I'm very dirty. Also, deodorant-wise, I prefer the dry ones, not the gel, and it HAS to be anti-perspirant since I sweat A LOT

I use Dove for men body wash at the moment, I use it on one of those things TB posted (is that called a loofah?) and get a lather going. I have longish hair so I use shampoo and conditioner, I don't have much of a preference, I just use whatever I buy/mom buys. Same with soap, I use bar soap and liquid soap, I don't have a real preference, just whatever's available and smells nice.

They sell those 3-packs for a buck. I'm not cheap or anything, but all soap is made from the same things, so why should I spend more?

It's really not, try switching to something designed to be 'softer' and you'll notice a huge difference. Ever coated a mirror with soapy water? Let it dry and you'll see it goes misty and cloudy. That's what you're putting into your skin every day! Nice.

Personally I have to use more 'sensitive' products as I suffer from eczema on the inside of my elbows and cheap, dry products tend to set it off. I spend a fair bit on grooming, especially for my face, but I've noticed a big change between products. Lynx/Axe shower gel leaves my skin feeling greasy and not cleaned properly. Cheap soap makes me feel like I'm shrinking and my face goes all dry and flaky. Not to mention the red blotches all over. A friend of mine uses Lynx all over his body, including his face, and his face has patches of red you can see from a mile off!

But then everyone is different and maybe it's just me. I'm curious as to what everyone else uses for the rest of their grooming. Here's my list:

Body wash - Kyoku For Men Earth Body Scrub twice weekly, water daily. I also use Body Shop Peppermint Foot Scrub on my feet, it helps with the smell!
Shampoo - Head and Shoulders Menthol
Conditioner - Bed Head Peppermint
Face Wash - L'Ancome Exfoliating Microdermabrasion face scrub once a week, L'Oreal Men Expert Daily Foaming Face Wash daily
Moisturiser - Boots Cucumber Moisturiser
Hair Styling - VO5 Matt Clay

So there we have. I'm willing to bet I've out-ponced you all.

I use this. its AXE and smells mentholated a little bit its really nice! relazing in the shower

Same here; by my guestimation, it's 98% soap, 2% sand. Been using it for about a year now, since they gave us several free samples in our mailbox. About half the time, I use whatever is in the hotel.

As for body wash...it wouldn't pass the TSA's 3 ounce test, so I haven't bothered. Wasn't impressed by it the few items I've used it.

Soap is made from fat and alkali. The modern formula does not vary too much: A detergent (a water-soluble polar part, and a non-polar part that "catches" oils), with some humectant; be it glycerin, fat or cream.
A softer soap has a higher proportion of humectant, in relation to the detergent.

And about the mirror thing: That's why we rinse.

I don't know how you guys use liquid bodywash. When I put it on a washrag, it doesn't do anything. No suds or lather or anything. What do you mean by bar soap not scrubbing? Washrags do the scrubbing. Like I mentioned, people that use the bar right on the body are heathens and should be corralled. I don't use loofahs either because you can get fungus from them.

Coast is the bomb son.

Washcloths do not scrub, they smear. I'd use steel wool if it weren't for all the blood. Loofahs are not meant to last forever. They cost a dollar and get tossed in the trash periodically for a new one.

I just do not understand how bar soap still exists. It has been phased out. It's antiquated. We have new technology that far exceeds the old technology.

You'd have to properly scrub your skin to remove all of the crap that cheap soaps leave behind, and you can never rule out some getting left behind anyway. The detergents used are different from brand to brand, and as you said the ratios are different. Put a cheap bar of soap out on the side for a day and it'll dry out. Put a 'softer' one in the same place and it'll remain intact. I know which one I'd rather use on my skin, baring in mind that it's a very delicate thing with a very complicated way of keeping your body hydrated, at the right temperature etc.

There's a reason my eczema comes back if I use cheap soaps! If you can get away with it, that's great, but they're really not good for me.

More waste. Kind of a push, when it's all said and done. Also costs more, from my maths.

See my TSA rant for three ounces or less of ire, takes up more suitcase room.

Dove soap or old spice body wash.
I used irish spring body wash, 1 bottle was enough. I've never felt so greasy and disgusting after a shower. It left this layer of slick crap on my skin. It was nasty.

LOL I didn't think this would get so many responses.

Also, I made the mistake of buying Axe recently. Not what it pretends to be.

Ever since I was 12 years old (24 now) & realised that nothing compares to the greatness that is a shower. My mother was the one who got me into the PM shampoo though, its got this teatree stuff in it that really makes your scalp burn when you first get out of the shower.

Are your washcloths laminated or something?

Whatever is the cheapest.

+1 I make sure that I am hygienic and presentable but I have better things to spend my money on. I'd rather save the money and buy better quality food for example.
