What the heck is that pounding noise in Tokyo Expressway?

When I first heard it in the beta I had no idea what it was, found it quite annoying. Only figured what it was in the full game and was amazed that it was actually modeled in the game. Still annoys me though

I'll give you a tip then, don't get a Buttkicker. You can feel every joint when you go over it, much like Special Stage Route 5 in GT 6.

So forgot about those things(buttkicker), I should get one for my rig. Runs off the LFE channel correct?

It can, yes, in which case it turns low frequencies into tactile feedback. On pc it can be directly fed by the physics engine and custom tuned to give you feedback from whatever you want it to.

Is that why it's closed then? They forgot the expansion joints?
I'm pretty sure it has them, just that they're covered over, somehow.

EDIT: I think it just has them at either end. I recall something about them being able to lay the tarmac in one go, so it definitely doesn't have them every few metres like the old bridge does.

I remember hearing it on Tokyo R246 in GT6 but not as much. Is this something in the way that Japanese and/or non-US countries do road construction? Maybe I just never noticed it here too?

Elevated ROADWAYS, so the structure can contract and expanded and flex without snapping.

It’s for subwoofer testing. If you’re not getting a back massage or shaking the windows, it’s time to upgrade to an SVS PB-4000 or 16 Ultra, lol

Is it those little strips on the road that everyone's mentioning? Yeah I knew what they were as soon as my controller started vibrating. Our highways here in Cape Town have that stuff. It's usually placed where the bridge undercarriage connects with the pylons. :boggled:

In my country most of constructed bridge or overpass (mostly known here as flyover) were build using expansion joints. When I first time heard that specific noise in GTS, I'm not really that surprised to be honest. Instead it was pretty good attention to detail in my opinion. And it did sound pretty loud (of course not as loud as engine/exhaust note, but it is noticeable inside the cockpit) when you get over the joint.
