Thankfully in this E3 we got the release date for Gran Turismo 5, and other points we were wondering about; however, that doesn't mean that everything is confirmed and all we have to do is wait. So here's a list of things I made up that I, and other people, still want to know about.

What we still don't know...
- *Moved* Standard Cars - Cockpits or no? There's some speculation going on about bad translation about standard cars. Since we really don't have concrete evidence yet, and it's still a HUGE issue, I moving this up /\ here. I guess there's just one ounce of hope left for "standies" (new nickname my bro gave for standards, I guess you know what he'll call premiums then :D)
- Exact number of tracks (There's 20 locales and 70 variations)
- LAN Racing (if you're lucky enough to have extra consoles and TVs, but it'll probably be useless since there's online)
- Customization (we know there will be customization, but not exact details)
- Exact car list (what are the premium cars!?)
- DLC after release (new cars, tracks, updates, etc.)
- Translator-san as a driver skin :D

Confirmed list (aka- Don't-talk-about-it-list)
- Release date: November 2nd
- Amount of cars: 200 premium, 800 standards
- Night and day (it's as plain as night and day)
- Importation of GT5P cars will go into arcade mode
- Custom music
- Playstation Move compatibility
- Headtracking to work with both TVs (confirmed by Mr. Latte)
- 16 cars on track, 8 on Top Gear's Test Track (also confirmed by Latte, thanks Latte!)

JamboGT has provided a list and links of what has been confirmed for sure (thanks Jambo!)

HN7 has also provided a list of confirmations http://www.ps3blog.net/2010/06/16/so...ran-turismo-5/
Thanks HN7!
* Support for 1-4 local players (split screen) and 16 online (this is from E3 and the link at the top is from Sep 2009 so I believe we have 4 players split-screen now)
* There is, of course, a damage model now, with the race cars featuring accurate performance and body damage based on point of impact and velocity (though, I would suspect all the cars will have performance-altering damage as well)
* Cars accumulate dirt, tires smoke, and bodies spark on roll-overs (so yes, the cars also roll over)
* Physics engine is brand new and will replace the Prologue engine
* Head tracking with PlayStation Eye to allow for looking around the cockpit, etc.
* More than 1000 licensed cars, including those from NASCAR to WRC to Super GT
* More than 20 tracks with 70 variations
* Gran Turismo TV has both SD and HD broadcast-quality video, and the video can also be exported to the GT PSP Museum
* Photo Album shots can be uploaded online to share, as well as replays from the Replay Album, which will be uploaded to YouTube
* Support for custom soundtracks
* Races can support up to 16 players online, but you can also create private lobbies, which can hold up to 32 racers
* Text and voice chat is supported, but be careful texting while driving :P
* Cars unlocked in GT PSP and GT5: Prologue will also be unlocked in your garage on GT5 for use in Arcade Mode

Post some more points I should add to the lists (both), and any info we know on any of these points. Thanks everyone!

I thought I had seen the icon for 2-player racing during the live G4TV feed yesterday.

That's not really confirmation.

DLC or update for 800 standard cars having cockpit interior view.

That pretty much could be a good confirmation though. PD wouldn't add something useless to a beta version. If I or someone else, could find a video of the menu with the 2P battle icon, that could pretty much confirm split-screen.

I thought custom music and split screen had been confirmed.

This mentions custom soundtracks.

I am pretty sure split screen was listed as a feature and there was some confusion becuase it said 1-4 players one place but something like "with a friend" in another so 2 palyer or 4 player local unclear, but I think 2 player is good to go.

LAN is conspicuously not mentioned much and with the move recently to strip lan from console games I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone.

What we still don't know...
- Split-screen (remember, like playing next to your bro or friend on the couch without the need of an extra console)
- Custom music soundtrack
- Importation of cars or credits from GT5P (I could care less, but I know some people have worked tirelessly for that Ferrari F2007, shame they'd lose all that progress *snicker*)
- Playstation Move compatibility (Again, I could care less, I'm using my Driving Force GT)

Actually, all of these are confirmed :D Can't mane individual places off of the top of my head, but I'll look around and provide a rough idea:

1. Splitscreen - Amar212's post that mentioned 32 players in a lobby said something about 1-4 players offline

2. Custom music - I think this was in Motortrend's article

3. A while ago PD said (while talking about GTPSP) that you could import cars (but not credits I believe) from both GTPSP AND GT5P

4. PS Move - Listed when SONY released a list of games featuring Move

Fact sheet to support my post (cars from GT5P and GT PSP will go to Arcade Mode only, sorry guys that have 20 F2007 :sly: ):

Awesome. Good thing there's an option to download SD videos because downloading HD videos is time consuming plus it eats up your HDD.

Just edited the post with the new info. Thanks everyone!
I also moved the section for the unknown stuff to the top (confirmed list is getting pretty long :D)

You could add to the "what we still don't know":

- What makes the difference between premium and standard tracks
- Inclusion of different (dynamic) weather effects

What? Your still be disappointed if P.D models all of the 800 standard models with cockpit for the next 5+ years or so?????
I'd rather they get started in GT6 than spend five years working on DLC just because some people took to a decision negatively.

Do you mean tracks or cars? I haven't heard mention of premium and standard tracks too. And I think the weather has been confirmed already according to those new E3 clips.

What we know...

Headtracking also works with 3DTVs (so glasses worn isnt an issue)

Recent Nurburgring F1 track video has shown 16 cars ontrack.
This is the only video I am aware of in the recent build that has done so. (most videos only show 8 cars)
Top Gear track allows races and not just 1 Vs 1 (Recent 3DTV video shows TG track with 8 cars)

What we dont know
Multiscreen support :(
Eueope & other region release date before or after 2nd Nov

In answer to what Kaz mentioned during the @Honda Twitter chat - Yes Kaz, I would rather have a "generic" black-frame cockpit-view on all the standard cars than none at all.

The simple fact that he said that proves that the 800 standard cars will have no cockpit-view - so at least give us a generic one like the one seen in GTPSP - but more detailed, please. :sly:

Actually not really need more information on the conversation

Updating the list.
A lot of these questions need to be thrown at PD the next time at any interviewer. I'm gonna rename this thread also so just in case any SMART interviewer comes by GTPlanet, they'll see this forum as a run-down of all the questions in need of answers.

not sure if someone already asked...if I don't have a LCD/Plasma etc...I can't play the game? Downloaded the GT demo and can't play it:yuck:
it says I don't have the right video settings but I'm not sure if is the TV or it's really the vid settings

A thing that we still don't know if Spec B (as intended in GT4, or improved) will be present in GT5.
I am personally really interested in that and I think I am not the only one.

We have seen 16 cars on the Rome track as well, or maybe it was Madrid. One of the new city tracks anyway. :)
