what went wrong with GT5?

In my opinion, GT5 also went wrong by having all those duplicate cars. If I was in Kaz's position, I would've sacrificed car quantity for quality. I would've included the base model car with the ability to select what kind of model variant the user wants without including them as separate cars (GT-R: V-Spec, M-Spec, M.N.P etc).

Also, the course maker didn't give us the option of point-to-point tracks for holding sprint races.

GT5P was a good basic preview but the full game still takes it. GT5 isn't perfect (no video game ever is) but for me it was satisfactory.

I still to this day fire up gt5p it just feels like you get much better racing out of it.

If gt6 throws some ideas from gt5 prologue I would be happy.

Even when gt6 is released ill still find time for it.

What does that mean? The b-word?

It obviously means he's permabanned or banned for a long time. I think he's learned his lesson. It really doesn't matter if this GT5P vs GT5 engine sounds situation is pretty old. It can still be discussed; after all, nobody actually made an exclusive thread about it?

GT Fan, don't leave the forum. You really did nothing wrong. Don't feel bad for yourself. ;)

Don't be, its a valid thread and the ex-member who took it upon himself to berate you for it has done so for the last time.
So Guard got the ban-hammer. Well I didn't expect that from him :scared:

GT_Fan why leave?? It makes no sense for you to leave because someone that isn't you got banned for being a little too aggressive. Also I have no problems understanding what you're saying 👍

Also Scaff buddy: Is he perma-banned?? :scared: O_O

He seems to have posted quite a lot of replys on this forum too.

He got himself banned - it has nothing to do with your thread.

I have decided im not going to use the forums anymore as my grammar is poor which i cannot do anything about.

Already had a warning for poor grammar and it is clearly never going to improve so i will stop using the forums.

You were given a warning for grammar and not using capitalisation. No where in the rules is it stated that you must spell everything correctly.

As all of you know a sentence starts with a Capital letter and you capitalise the 'I' when referring to yourself.
Keep in mind GTPlanet became an international site long time ago and our member base is not exclusive to English speaking countries. Look over to the left and notice 'my country'.

.... grammar and it is clearly never going to improve

Just needs a little bit more effort and you'll be fine here.

Personally Prologue was far superior, I actually got it after I got GT5.
There was actually difficulty in Prologue which I haven't seen in any GT games besides GT3.

Really? I found GT3 pretty easy and GT5 Prologue seemed to have poor balancing to me, some races were easy and others were ridiculously challenging. I think 4 or 2 would be the most difficult all round. Then again, I have seen (and replied to) a comment somewhere on here saying that GT5's licence tests were too hard after GT3/4 and I found it to be the other way round, so I guess it's just personal preference.

GT3 got me stuck on a lot events, If I try to keep it even I get crushed, I have to have an advantage or it's all over for me.
GT5P events were very challenging, they felt like the GT5 seaonals but more harder and fun.

GT3's AI was the best ever. It made the game hard. The AI was aggressive and competitive. How long has it been since you've played GT3?

Probably longer than I thought.

It's really weird though, I found the PS1 era games harder and I've played them more recently. I also found GT4 harder, but that was mostly due to the Mission Hall and those tight city races at Citta di Aria and Costa di Amalfi.

GT1 and GT2 were not that hard to me. GT5P and GT3 were trying to make my racing difficult (but in a fun way). GT4 was easy and GT5 wanted me to win.

I never beat GT3 Reshiram :scared:

What went wrong with our current game, is the fact that P.D. bloated everything with an unoptimized game engine, GT5P had less content (1/3 of the premium cars) and a less bloated feel. That's why it's arguably a smoother game.

GT3's AI was hard because it still had rubberbanding. GT4's was the worst, because it lost the rubberbanding and it regressed in terms of awareness. Most of the races it was hard in were hard because the AI cars were boosted massively.

Aside from the normal flaws from GT5, there is also the Technical complexity of the hardware, maybe PD and the way the build GT5 it was hard to make a whole new AI. (Maybe that's what Kaz said, a flexible way to improve GT6)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on some updates they tried to improve the AI right?

Not to mention GT3's AI just outright bulldozed you if you got in their way.

Don't feel bad, you did nothing wrong. This was Guardians' second go around on these forums as he has been banned before and also has been warned numerous times about his behavior this time around. Some people just don't learn I guess. Anyway, it has nothing to do with what you did and I wouldn't let it bother you.

As for your grammar, just do the best that you can and learn from the warnings you may recieve. Nobody is perfect and the staff understands that, all they ask is that you try. If you have questions, don't be affraid to ask them. You should stick around for awhile and not be so quick to leave. GTPlanet is a pretty cool site with a wealth of information and loads of very helpful people. Give it a chance friend.👍

I actually wanted to post a topic regarding this, except that it wasn't about GT5P, it was about the GT HD Concept. I was lucky enough to download it back when it originally came out, and recently re-downloaded it since it is still a part of my transactions /download history . As soon as i got to drive the Honda Integra, i was shocked.

It sounded WAY better than the sound it had on GT5. Now, i actually am ok with most car sounds in GT5, but you can't deny that these releases had more realistic sounds than the proper GT5 itself.

The bigest flaw for me is the lack of single player event's , 90% cars that I own gather dust just because i have no events for them :/

In a nutshell, this. 👍

This is my only real gripe with GT5, too many cars and not enough to do with them all.

"Poor" quality sounds, I can live with. Realistic handling is more important to me. In an ideal world, both would be perfect. But if a sacrifice has to be made, for whatever technical reason, then I can live with the sound aspect being top of the drop list.

Exactly how I feel.

I sold my GT5P copy back in 2011, GT5 is just bigger and better, I went back to GTP once because of the graphics but I noticed that the tyre sounds where exacly the same as GT1 so it turned me off instantly, there's also 0 sense of speed in Prologue.

Prologue was a good demo but with the full GT5 release, there was no point in going back to Prologue.
Maybe you are just feeling nostalgic...

I have played GT5P more recently than I've played GT5. Maybe it's knowing that if I put the GT5 disc in I'll have to wait an hour before getting to play, but I remember GT5P more fondly.

Played all the way through the campaign again to break my new wheel in. That was good fun. :)

I suffer with dyslexia and it's taken me a very long time to get to a point where my posts get the message across first time. I use Google chrome as it has a built in spell checker which warns me of any stupid spelling mistakes.

I found reading books, mainly fiction ones on pdf and having an audio dictionary to hand helped me improve my ability in both spelling and grammar. It's really worth doing and you will get to enjoy some really good books at the same time.

It took 29 years before I was diagnosed and after doing the above I was able to enjoy reading and taking part in open discussion on the various forums I used.

You have my sympathy and understanding - took the NHS 18 years to diagnose my learning disability, just in the nick of time as I'd been put on suicide watch after "banging my head against a wall" (acceptance within society) for 35 years and getting no-where.

Glad to see things are better for you..

so what went wrong between prologue and the full release? how could they mess the sounds up so much because there is lots of cars in GT5 that share the exact same sound as each other.

At face value, what went wrong was:

Total lack of acceptance testing, lack of understanding of all it's customers needs and wants and the product environment

Reasons behind these - only PD and Sony know.
Individual issues with game - far too many to mention.

It was so simple, and also so important - the first full GT 'online'. Going online has revolutionised gaming, the first version of any big name brand/game to go online is so important, but GT5 has been a constant "nightmare" since day 1. Other big name games had issues too, like BF3, but these issues were sorted out in the first 6 months or so and the game was developed massively thereafter.

Unlike GT5 which still has many issues 2 1/2 years on and each "development" (update) virtually always caused more temporary problems than what it fixed.

One of the biggest screw up in video gaming history IMO when it was oh so simple - lots of cars, lots of tracks & go online and race.

This is an interesting thread because of course we all have differing hopes for what will improve in GT6.... But the reality is that Gt5 managed to sell 10 million copies. There is simply no measure where 10 million sales is anything other than a big success for the game, no matter what the shortcomings.

To put that into perspective, Forza 4 is probably rated critically by reviewers and (impartial) sim fans slightly ahead of GT5, but Forza sold around half as many copies as GT5. And despite being released a year later, Forza's rivals time trials get far fewer entries per month than you see in GT5's seasonal time trials every 2 weeks (anecdotally many rivals events manage less than 10,000 entries globally in a whole month, more people gold GT5 time trials within 24 hours of them being added), so there really is a far larger online community for GT5 2.5 years in, compared with the Forza 4 community tailing off dramatically within less than a year, and still dropping fast.

There is a real risk that GT6 sells considerably worse than GT5, of course. It depends how many people purchased 5 for the "look what my PS3 can do" effect, since very few of those are likely to repeat purchase 6. So we might have the bizarre situation that GT6 is critically well received, fixes a lot of 5's issues, but has considerably lower sales nonetheless!

I have Autism but still don't what it does still :(.

Anyway GT5 wasn't bad (I found it good) but I felt like it promised so much but I didn't feel like I was promised well. GT6 looks like it will put its money on the table.

The bigest flaw for me is the lack of single player event's , 90% cars that I own gather dust just because i have no events for them :/

Spot on. 1000 cars were just too much for a game that offered very, VERY few events... :yuck:

What angers me the most is that expanding the number of events is extremely easy to do... but they did nothing... :grumpy:
