What WILL you make with a GPS enabled or very detailed track editor?

Pending on the GPS data software, I would remake almost all the tracks in the world. I stumbled a pone a tune GPS track data and I'm hoping GT6 will allow me to use all of it, if so I'm sharing all of it. As of now I have time from Lime Rock and Willow Springs. Some of the data are from drivers running the 996 and 997 GT3 Porsche., I'll be looking through the track like later during the week to see if I can find anything across the pound. I'll find a world track list of all the tracks in the world to see if I can find it in this list. I'll keep you all informed. I CAN'T BELIEVE I FOUND THIS!!!!

would be funny if someone made a carpark ramp
heh heh, yeah, that would probably confuse it quite a lot, It'll be interesting to see how this GPS track maker handles elevation changes, if it can and it does it well, then perhaps one of our Romanian members could drive the Transfagarasan

For drifting @MockngBrd? I know a few members on the forms are going to go bloody RAMPAGE. I myself will go nuts in the Tri-States area which are Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania. I'll also see if I can get some members from OG Drift Club in Fairfax, Va to get some GPS data of their favorite locations.

Everyone's talking about the routes they're going to make, and I'm just sitting here, too young to drive. :(
'sallright, me neither, though I should be on my L plate by now, there's other complications that I won't go into; you could get someone else to drive

@PNuTButR what about your local kart track, or you can have mom, pop, brother or sis help you out? There's always a way mate.

While I don't think my phone will be up to the task, I would love to re-create the Phoenix Street Circuit, which hosted F1 for three years in a row.

1989, 1990 version:

1991:

I'd most likely have to forgo the chicanes, as a basketball arena and baseball stadium would make it rather difficult to drive around there. I would probably fuse the two together, taking turns 1, 2 and 3 from the '91 layout, then fusing turns 4 and continuing on with the '89-'90 layout. Turn 14 is also impossible to re-create, so there'd be additional corners at Washington and Jefferson on 7th Ave.

I know what this says, but I am going to go out on a limb here and say I think this is all wrong. I think this is a misinterpretation.

I think the GPS data (that is so much hyped) is from the Toyota 86 car (or maybe other cars by now) data that is collected when people drive on actual tracks. Then you can download Kaz’s or other celebrity GPS runs and see how well you can do against them. Or watch their runs or do ghost cars or whatever.

@Snaeper if you're able to map this track during a clear day of traffic this would be a great Eifel track. I know how bad the traffic can get in Phoenix can get, I lived in Tuscon most of my life. "I really miss Az"

Well here's to hoping the GPS recorder can manage to make due with traffic lights and traffic in general.

As Chrunch points out, though, it might be good to wait for more information on the feature. Though I certainly hope doing something like above is possible.

Lol just get your parents to do it! i would love to drive to school and back in a pagani huarya!

I live in flat Houston. It's built on a coastal plane. Nothing to see here. All of the streets are flat and straight.

Well, uhh... I live in Seattle...

All jokes aside, I'll probably map my route to school. I'm curious on how scenery will be designed accordingly. With GPS data, it will surely recognize where side streets are, so wouldn't it know it's a city environment? will there be city backdrops? Or will a "city" circuit (or any environment really) just use the generic Mt. Aso/Eiffel etc. regions?

That is my point from above. It won't happen.

Does this mean that I can drive anywhere I want, and the gps app will record my route to be used in the course maker?
If so, prepare for some amazing roads from Israel! There are roads here I wish I could drive with a sports car!

Boy oh boy am I excite!!!

If point to point was possible, then my old commute across Blakey Ridge moor would be getting done straight away:

It will be interesting to see how they handle the textures. I imagine it will be a set theme like GT5, Mt Aso, desert etc.

Would be cool if they tried to overlay the Google Street View textures though...probably next to impossible.

2 questions:
-Would be possible to recreate Seattle Circuit?

-And what about 8-formed tracks like Suzuka or Midfield?

Well this is a good reason for me to get a smart phone..the best thing about this is that i'm assuming you will be able to share tracks. I live in Leicester, England, there is a stretch of road called beggers lane that I like to tazz along, its a country road and I pretend its part of the nurburgring, looks similar too, be cool to map that in game and see what a fast car could do : )

Hi all, I remembered a thread from a few years ago about GPS being in GT5, I found one my contributions to the said thread and pasted it below. Looking back a follow up to my post said, " maybe in 20 years ".Technology, leaps and bounds etc.

"How about this then.... you plan a route to your friends house for eg. The GPS plots the route and you take out the card to put into your PS3. The GPS has worked out the length of the straights, bends and corners of your route, this is then made out as a simple track on your PS3, just a simple track which you could edit with for eg tree's ( 3d of course ), maybe barriers or tyres. Its probably one for the future.....

GPS doesn't capture scenery, if that's what you're asking.
No, I was more curious on what scenery would be available - I know GPS doesn't give scenery data, but there's going to be scenery. I was asking what scenery WOULD be available, more specifically, if side streets would be incorporated, but blocked off. As I said, it would be odd mapping out Seattle, and then having the circuit placed in a Mt. Aso backdrop.

Well, considering (from what I've seen, I haven't actually played the circuit myself) that the track follows the real roads, as long as the GPS data is accurate, I would say yes... Though, I'm pretty sure Seattle is going to return in some sort of DLC, considering we saw it in the NSX trailer way back when.
