What WILL you make with a GPS enabled or very detailed track editor?

I do, however unless you're paying for a track day I don't think you can have access. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on the other hand, can be driven by the public when the track is closed.

What if you asked to tour the track?

I'm going to check through my old contacts, I might still have the numbers for some local instructors I've worked with. I doubt I still have them seeing that it was years ago.

I would use Mount Cheeha, The Dragon, and Chreohola skyway. I'd ride these on my motorcycle all the time. All curvy and exciting and elevation changes.

I would drive on a track that isn't included in GT6, (like Circuit of the Americas) and use the GPS to drive that route.

If we get the good 'ol Tahiti Maze as course creator location you could end up with a pretty authentic replication.

Wishful thinking haha. I actually thought about something like that. I was more reminded about the similar rally stage in GT2. I'm not sure if it's the same one but it was pretty similar; paved road/dirt and gravel combo, tropical setting.

But now that just leaves me hoping. Suppose PD actually gave us enough freedom to decide which part of your custom track do you want as Tarmac and the rest as dirt? I'm tempted to even include allowing us to add trees or even small structures.

Would it be possible to recreate the Pikes Peak hill climb? I'd absolutely love to try and smash Loeb's record.
I think Pikes Peak will come as a DLC, because there's two new pikes peak cars.

Do you have to drive a car for the GPS to work? Is it possible to walk?

If it really does do what PD say it does, I can't imagine it will not be long before someone works out the file format and develops a basic editor that lets you just generate a bunch of 'faked' gps coordinates and lets you create any layout you want.

As for the fine tuning after the fact that someone posted about; don't count on it. Best we can hope for is the basic track generation based on gps (including elevations, if we are lucky) and some kind of 'theme' selector a la the current GT5 generator.

That's my guess as well about how it's going to work. Tracks with little camber or banking will be the easiest to recreate unless they allow us to create banking as they did in GT5. Shouldn't be that hard to use the same software for that but instead of applying it to specific sections you should be able to apply it to specific GPS coordinates. If they go that far...

Yes, I live in Barcelona. Yes, I will do it.

The possibilities are endless! I instantly think of all the togue tracks that will come from Japan.

I wonder if there will be a way to edit the GPS data yourself to create 100% unique tracks...

Maybe the course creator will be good enough so we wouldn't have to do that...

SO MANY POSSIBILITIES!

Recreation of old Spa would also be a possibility, as the old part of the circuit is a public road :)
If that could be done, it would be great. The tracks I would really like to see in GT6 would be Monza, Spa, Watkins Glen, Glen, Rheims, and a few others from early to mid 1960's versions. And Avus!

Keep in mind if you have a largely known track near you, you may have to ask for permission to take a lap around it to record the data. And you may have to give the track a fake name to avoid licensing issues or having the track taken down.

These are all close to me and I would try to get them in the game:

This feature is quite cool, if it works out by importing routes from an app like mapmyride or similar, as they export in a few different file types, but ya really don't have to go out on the road to map a route, because you can map routes in the Web site for the apps... Which you can then export to a .Gpxfile .... Which of it does work like that, will be awesome.

Not sure if any of you watch the UK show Fifth Gear? In one of the episodes you see Vicky Butler Henderson take a Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible along the Antrim Coast Road in Northern Ireland, thankfully this road is about 10 miles from where I live and I will definitely be mapping as much of it as I can (it's pretty long, 30km for the best bit) Absolutely fantastic road!

I will create my local track (best track in baltics) its just around the corner here.. I could use it to practise.. if the elevations and corners are right I will be very happy...

Bankings will probably be off, but maybe that's something that can be edited in the course editor.

Just thought of something. Logically, one would assume that a track will be created with the GPS app using the path you create as the centre of the track. So if you drive a track and hit all the apexes and let the car run wide on exit, you won't get exactly the same shape as if you drive up the middle of the track. So if you're looking for perfection in the track layout I think you'll have to drive up the middle of the track.
I just hope people won't do this on regular streets...

It is possible there might be the option whereby it asks which side of the road you drive on, and the rough road width, and then it basically just adds 1ft to one side of the trace, and a big chunk to the other, avoiding any need to do this.

For the sake of safety they might have to do it. I can fully see them having to pull the feature out of safety concerns if they don't.

I'm hoping that after we import the data we can tweak the width, etc.
