Does inaccurate hand movement animation bother you?

  • Yes i want steering wheel degrees to match animation degrees.

  • No. This has been the case with nearly all racing games and i can live with it.

I don't see this as a problem, I mean, what are you guy's doing looking at the steering wheel for, try driving a real car by looking at the steering wheel, see how far you get !!

It seems to me like there is a competition at the moment to see who can find the most banal thing to moan about, current leader would be the guy who was moaning about the trees I think, this is a close second.

Dont normally use interior view online since Im faster with bumper cam.. if I was using interior Id only be in the back  BUT if that head tracking feature works well... I know what I'll be using.. :D i'll just practice...

And then I do agree they need to let that wheel rotate in sync.

It would be a challenge if you are focused on the game and you are driving with a wheel. But its nothing an experienced player can't get past. Just don't focus on the steering wheel in the cockpit. concentrate on the racing and you will be fine.

Yes I am quite annoyed with the hand animations but it won't be the end of the world if its not pin point perfect. First of all the 900 degrees issue. I can understand the confusion when using a wheel so I think that is a definate fix for PD. It needs to be, but I can see why they dropped it in prologue it looks bloody awful. Its pretty simple to let the wheel run through the finger tips while keeping both hands in the same position. Next is the gear changes. Flappy paddles could be incorporated into the game, but like I said it won't be doomsday. I noticed in GT5P that the Ferrari F2007 could change though flappy paddles and I thought the animation was perfect. Thats a definate for GT5 in my opinion. Also I noticed when looking into the car when the driver changes gears using a gear stick the gear knob would not actually move. I'm sure they could fix that easily. Maybe foot animations could be possible but I think I would notice this the least out of all of the above. Unless it has a camera like GRID with a full cockpit, I won't be too woried. I am pretty sure PD can sort these out before GT5 releases. Apart from that I think they have done a beautiful job on modeling the interior & extior of the cars. Magnificent!

cant see the hand animations anyway, My DFGT is lined up perfectly with the ingame wheel. so it blocks the in game hands lol.

It would be annoying when driving in the formula one car. I want a kind of an option to set the driving angle or something. In DiRT, there is no 900 degrees. Isn't it able to block the steering in a formula one car? I mean they test GT5 with the DFGT...

Even if you do not have use all 900 degrees, rotations of should match animation. Also that lfs video looks very cool compared to GT5:P video which feel like someone is driving a toycar with limited steering :) My topic is a bit wrong as hands do not bother me as much as wheel animation not matching input.(but it is kind of a same thing)

Baically, the cockpit view should have...

1. 1:1 steering animations
2. Adjustable steering wheel angle (PC sims do this via the logitech profiler, GT5 needs some sort of similar option
3. Adjustable seat position and field of view like PC sims
4. Adjustable virtual HUD (ie. you can turn parts or all of the virtual HUD off)

I might have missed something :P

I am a bit surprised that no gaming media have pointed this issue to PD. Also Forza 3 have same issue and also none of major gaming media have pointed this issue to them. Do they only use controllers to play these state of the art racing simuations for crying out loud?

Reporters don't know a damn thing about games much less racing sims so yes, they use the controller, display their lack of skill(and effort) and then say stupid crap.

As I said before, the reason why PD didn't included 900° hand rotation animation is that they want it to work smoothly with most controllers, including D-pad (Kazunori's favorite, as he says) and analog sticks, which would look like fighting with deadly anaconda in case of 900 degrees (furious turning right and left). Adding options on that would be nice, but it's not a priority and most of players won't need it. Forget about it.

I won't forget about this. GT should be played with wheel and current animation with limited rotation looks just as stupid with 900 degree wheel as proper animation would look like with controller. I Want an option for 1:1 , please PD :)

Isn't this going to be quite hard to do? I mean you are asking a computer to second guess a humans next move, imagine you are turning the wheel just enough to make the driver move hand positions on the wheel, just as he starts to move his hands you decide to steer the opposite way, result-goofy looking animation- I say leave it as it is, I can say hand on heart if you guy's are looking at the steering wheel in a race then you can't be wining many races, maybe you're the ones who sit at the side of the track in the online races when you can't keep up with the pack? Maybe thats when you all notice things like hands not moving properly, or trees with not enough leaves and shiny tarmac etc, etc.

Maybe if you spent less time looking at the wheel you'd spend less time sitting at the side of the track counting down the laps, and taking notes on things to complain about?

Or maybe its the 50+ hours a week clocked in the game, maybe it's all the time trials and replays, or MAYBE ,MAYBE , someone knows how to use their paracentral vision.

BTW, those GT4 hand animations are SWIZZEET. Very natural.

LFS and GT4 have good enough animations for 1:1 rotations so there is no real issue why this option would not work with GT5. Thanks for those GT4 vids!

I use the bumper cam so I don't really care.... but accurately depicting hand movements on the steering wheel is important for a game such as GT5 IMO 👍

Animations are really good and IMO they should come back in GT5.
There's one more thing... In GT4 driver really changes gears (not just moving hand above the lever like in GT5:P).

Yeah but on Page 1 LFS video, the game driver is not changing gear. It could easily be done I think but GT changes gear in most cars.

Colin McRae Dirt has 2 interior views, one with dashboard cam and one hemlet cam which I think is good.

That seat position thing would be fantastic (even if the chances of it happening are about as likely as Ferrari coming to me to replace Badoar). Really bugs me that in the GT5p inertia views you always seem to be sitting much too high, and too near to the wheel!

Such a shame that being on the ps3 its impossible for people to modify these things......

I can live with it but I prefer if it had 900 degree turning! But they would have to make it look good, otherwise it would be a complete waste of time.

i just like how in GTProlog the driver can change gear in the mustang with his foot, it must help stability keeping both hands on the wheel.
