Following the "What's the UK Like?" and "What's Japan Like?" threads, I'm making this one, for Australia.

So, Aussie members, what's it like? How common are kangaroos? How's the lifestyle?

kangarros are everywhere. there are more of them than people. their army even has special op kangaroos equipped with TNT in their bags that can jump behind enemy lines and then blow things up.

they eat BBQ for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

they all drive around in road trains, but thanks to the general emptiness in the outback the congestion isn't all that bad.

santa claus hates australia because its always a sweaty job for him down under and he can't take his clothes of because that would scare the children.

every children flies to school in its own cessna.

oh and for the americans: australia is not in the alps!

They like to throw shrimps on the barbie and they all drink Fosters.

Is it true that some cars are fitted with breathalysers on the ignition that won't start unless you're below the legal limit? If so, is it also true that you can find rows of cars sitting running outside pubs while the owners are inside drinking?

It’s like America except the world doesn’t hate us, and we don’t shoot eachother in the face.

Often.

Oh, and we drive on the right side of the road (that is, the correct side of the road (The left side)).

I'm abandoning my family, home, friends, and current lifestyle to start a new life in this magical land.

I just read the most common pizza topping in Austraila is eggs. True?

It's not the most common, but you should be able to get an 'Aussie' pizza at most pizza shops.

1 word...

VEGEMITE!

No wait...thats New Zealand.

Hell no! Vegemite has been made in Australia since 1923! It's ours! I'm going to have some right now.

Well, there is a funny gravitational thing there that when you through a certain kind of stick, it comes back to you,

Also, they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people...

Aussie Pizza looks awesome. How do you make that? Do you fry it first? or just dump the raw egg on the pizza and put it in the oven?

Crack a raw egg onto a hawiian pizza, throw it in the oven, and Bob's your uncle!

Kangaroos are not as common as everyone seems to think, we do not have them bouncing down the streets, and eating our food...although there was that ONE time...

I have yet to see anyone who wasn't crazy wearing a cork hat.

We like to have a BBQ maybe once a week, if that, and only when the mates and family come around, and then we get quite drunk. Fun times!

There are cities here, we don't all live in the outback, or talk like Crocodile Dundee/Steve Erwin, and yes, we do have modern conveniences (power, water, telephone, highspeed internet).

Kangaroos are actually pretty common. You can buy them at pretty much any butcher or Supermarket

Apparently Australia is the only place where it's legal to eat the animals on your Coat of Arms. (Kangaroo and Emu).

Now....How about a BBQ'd Kangaroo pizza with Egg?

Roo meat and Croc meat tastes nice.

Just think the American suburbs, and you've pretty much got Australia with it's own ethnic mix. In the Western Sydney area, we have 4 dominant groups, Asians, Islanders, Lebanese, and Caucasians (Yea I'm generalizing). It's hugely racist between the groups, especially between Lebanese and Islanders. It's just the attitude that both groups have when the teenagers are out in full force.

Food is pretty much the same as America, just less fatty. Toyota's are the most common cars with Holden coming in as a close second. There are a lot of imported cars around here, You usually see about 10 R33 GTS-T in about a day if you go to the CBD (Although that is slowly dwindling and being replaced with ER34's and R32 GTRS). You see much less rice on the streets compared to probably America.

Ermm... Anybody else wanna ask something because that's all I can top off.

I actually heard about that a while ago. I think Saab was going to implement it but it never got off the ground. I'm not 100% sure though.

You could probably find them unlocked. But not running. That's beer money being wasted idling!

Australia is not really as most people think it is,

*We have citys where most people live, Kangaroos don't roam in them.
*We don't drink fosters.
*I have never seen a pizza with a egg on it like that.
*I have never tried kangaroo meat but I have seen it available at butchers.
*I have never been to a BBQ where shrimp/prawns as been cooked on it.
*Its prawns!
*What Americans call 'thong' we call G-string and our 'thongs' are what Americans call 'flip-flops'.
*I don't use the word 'mate' unless joking.
*Vegemite is Australian!!!! not NZ!
*I am also yet so see anyone wear a cork dangling hat.
*What you usually read about Australia is most likely untrue, like egg pizza is the most popular.
*Yes Australian stereotypes are funny (aswell as English, American and New Zealander ones :D)

Mclaren came for a week holiday to Australia and didn't see one.

Which way do the toilets flush, clockwise or anti-clockwise? I'm being serious.

Actually, Kraft (The makers of Vegemite) is now owned by a US company.

Actually, my toilet just goes straight down, but if the sink is full, and you let it out, then it goes clockwise.

Does everyone do a sport? Cause for a pretty small population you've got a damn lot of athletes.

Is Ayres rock the only hill/mountain/rock in all of Australia?

Does everyone, even little girls, see rabbits as vermin?

daan
Down. Which is odd as they're upside down...

Actually, we are on top, the maps are wrong...

Well, no, not unless you count sitting in front of a computer as sport...

No

Only the feral ones, however they are quite popular as pets.
