I am excited about the game and to have all the tracks is great but I thought the game is called project cars not project tracks? Where is Lamborghini, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan maybe, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Lexus, Pontiac, SRT, Subaru, Volkswagen? Is it just me or is there a lot of good cars missing?

If you are coming from the likes of Gran Turismo you might not be familiar with the concept of "Quality over Quantity".

You do know you have a licence/agreement/contract to use any manufacturers products in video games. These things cost money. Money that SMS obviously doesn't have.

Oh BTW, the CARS part in the title stands for Community Assisted Racing Simulator, it's doesn't mean there will be a GT like crap load of cars to drive

Once they start to make sales then I think we'll see two things happening; good community mods for the PC and MS/Sony support for DLC packs (for a cut).

When there's only about 70 or so cars in the game, naturally there's going to be a lot of good cars missing. Along with the fact that SMS is on a tight budget, the cars are pretty much the most deeply developed of any racing game ever, so the process takes time, and hence less cars are produced. I think the cars that are there are great choices, and that is what matters.

It seems likely that more manufacturers will be on board through post game dlc, and of the manufacturers you mentioned, Nissan has been frequently talked about in WMD.

If you are comparing CARS to GT then, yes, there are fewer cars but as has been explained in the above posts, it's not a car collecting game but a career building one.
OK the list of cars available is small in comparison, but like it's been said, it is quality over quantity. GT6 has around 1200 cars but just look at all the multiple models of Nissan Skylines, Mazda MX-5 / Miata's etc etc. All the same cars, just different specs or age. Once you have one, what's the point of the others ?
Personally, I prefer the quality over the quantity plus ALL the cars/tracks are available without having to grind to gain Cr.

I'm sure they will gradually build up but I have to agree with the other comments that quality over quantity. And also more importantly, selective ones as well.

If you want to drive cars with interiors made with black cardboard (a-la-standard cars), wait for GT7. lol

Sorry maybe this game isn't for you.

-Small team with limited budget
-Licenses are expensive
-More race cars over road cars
-Not a car collecting game

I'm a massive fan of the GT series but you have to admit that whilst they advertise over 1000 cars, only a small number of those have been developed for GT5/6, the rest is their old back catalogue and have had little or nothing done to update them.

Interiors are just black, exteriors are low poly and the handling isn't really must more that RR/FR/MR adjusted. The premium cars are vastly superior but there are very few comparatively.

When comparing PCars to GT, I only include the premium updated cars and on that front they are quite close. Just look how long it takes them to add new cars via DLC.

Why make up silly excuses for the UK/EU-biased car selection in this game? There are plenty of notable and desirable cars that are missing. It has nothing to do with "it's not Gran Turismo" or "it's not a car collecting game". It's simply down to a lack of time/money, and more cars will be added via DLC.

I agree with this. I hope that this game becomes wildly successful, to the point of spawning a lot of new content, and at more distance a sequel. IMO saying things like "it's not supposed to have lots of cars" etc is silly, as it's not the reason as to why there is the quantity that exists. It is almost as if we are campaigning to keep the car list small. If SMS had more money there would have been more cars. Also, the amount of dlc in the pipeline already shows that SMS are eager to get the content up and rising.

Let's hope Project CARS is successful and its revenue allows for new content to be added, because there is simply no denying that some big names are missing from that list. The game's current manufacturer roster (not counting fictional cars) is comprised of basically British and German cars. Britain and Germany certainly make good cars, but so does the likes of Italy, America, Japan, France. So far, there's only one manufacturer flying the flag for each one of those countries and they don't always number high, comparatively speaking, in their car count. No one needs another 1000 car game, nor is that what's expected of pCARS, I believe. As others have said: "Quality over quantity". However, to achieve quality of selection with lower numbers, the choices have to be both good and varied. Therefore, something like 6-10 cars from a couple of new manufacturers would be very welcome.

Well we have Mustangs, that takes care of Ford, Corvette,or Camaro,GT cars would be nice, probably licensing agreements need to be worked out,all in due time.

to be honest i dont care the quantity of cars i dont have a specific limit of how many cars must be in a game, yet i have to admit i would love to see all gt3 cars for example or from another category of a specific year so that we can simulate that season for example. i quess project cars simulates car behaviour on track and not championships cause for championships you need the official cars and tracks. i have various thoughts about the game but i will try before i judge. it happened to me many times that i played a game with 100 cars and every car felt the same and i have played games with 30 cars and every car felt different spicing up the game more. so yes to quality oer quantity for sure :)

SMS is probably hiding another 30 cars, knowing them. But, so much had to be done from scratch, so it'd hard to include a lot of cars, especially at such a high detail. How many cars did Gran Turismo start with?

Yeah there aren't a ton of cars, but the ones that are there are awesome and not in most games (M1 Procar, 190E, E30 M3, Sierra Cosworth, 300SEL, pretty much all the old Lotus F1 cars, 320 Turbo, etc.)

If Polyphony Digital had developed Project Cars there would appear to be many more models in game. PD add each different livery as a seperate car rather than just as an option for the car. SMS have added hundreds of different liveries across most cars in the game. I'm not talking about mere colour changes. It will be interesting to see how many of those there will be. Some models will have 20 entirely different liveries.

Single and multiple model series' come alive with different liveries.

Funny, I just said something regarding this topic? ;)

I hate quoting myself:
"In gt users complain about this and that car and there's to many of that particular branch... there are hundreds of them!
Be honest, it's like up to 20 cars you drive regularly. For me the car count is fine in Pcars. I want to know every detail on the track of like 10 cars. Get to know the handling, the behavior and put it on the track. Plus you need track experience to be good. Get my point?!
But that's just me opinion."

And this comment from @MXHyland sums it up? ;) :D
"The car count is fine in my opinion too. However, none of us can deny that it's missing some of the more 'important' manufacturers that are also popular requests by fans."

Sure there is always that one or two cars you might love but miss in the game. In shooter there will be always that one weapon to. In sports games there will be that one team...

You just cant make everyone happy? ;) ;)

Personally I drive many of the Gran Turismo cars regularly as across all of the CRAP events we've run in GT5/6 we try to make use of as big a variety of cars as possible. The main reason for that though is because of the blandness, lack of variety or quantity of competitively matched race cars in that game.

I am sure there will be more real variety to the characteristics of how cars drive in Project Cars.

I think there should still be space for plenty of road cars. Getting the right balance between them will never be agreed on by all of us. I'd love to see a proper racing version of each road car ever built eventually in Project Cars but for now I think we'll have plenty to keep us occupied due to the way the cars have been selected.

Honestly, the car count is irrelevant. The car content is what's important. You can only drive one car at the time and you'll probably never use more than a dozen or so cars regularly, but the point of having a car list with lots of diversity is that you can pick your favourites. The bigger the list and the greater the diversity, the better the chance of finding your favourites in it.

Of course you can always find new favourites, even in a limited list of cars. Generally you don't go for "what's good", you go for "what's best" and since that's relative there will always be a best car in a list, regardless of how small the selection is.

I don't see the point in having hundreds of cars when a game doesn't have the gameplay or depth of career like the last few iterations of GT and Forza, they just seem to be about earning credits to buy more cars to earn more credits to buy faster cars, the actual racing and structure of those games is about as bland as you can get. Give me a smaller list of well balanced cars, a load of tracks and a realistic career mode and I'm like a pig in effluent.

Saying that though some of the cars in PC are looking a bit lonely, the M1, the Sauber C9, the DTM car etc, they need some friends to play with.

Not talking about all cars from these manufacturers but you are telling me you would not like any cars from them? Why are you defending a company that is making a game that will cost $60 and even though it looks gorgeous I would rather have 30 more cars and 10 less tracks, again project cars!
