Which car do you think has the most bizarre sounding engine?

Then how come the older GT games have much better sounds for each car, and a high percentage of them sounded different from other cars, meaning that you won't hear the same sound with racing exhaust as you do now in GT4. Even GT2 had more realistic V8 sounds with Racing Exhausts, or stock Exhausts. There was even times that I didn't even TRY installing a Racing Exhaust on my cars, because I'm pretty damn sure it was going to ruin the sound of it. In GT2 I can install it and still be pretty satisfied with the sound, even on muscle cars.

I would love it if they stuck with the sounds from GT2, and some from GT3, I miss that Supra JGTC's sound, it sounded like a Rally Car, with higher revs, considering they used a 4cyl Celica Rally Car's engine in it, and mods. And GT2 even had more realistic physics IMO.No, in GT2 they had 3 generic AI sounds, one for NA cars, one for Turbo cars, and another for NA cars with over 9k revs.

i agree with you. keep the gt2 sounds but enhance them so they sound modern and realistic

One car that people think is off, well, some people, is the 2000 Cobra R.

There is a very distinct valvetrain whine at high RPMs, and some people find that unrealistic.

It's not. Every four valve mod motor car I've been in whines at 5500-6000 rpm under load.

Oh, and this reminds me of the Shelby Cobra with any exhaust other than stock or racing: (In GT3) With a sports or semi-racing exhaust, the Cobra gets MUCH quieter and sounds like a total POS. Then you install the racing exhaust and stock sound comes back to you.

Really? The stock sound comes back? I always thought it sounded like a muted JGTC Skyline with the racing muffler, even in GT3.

The Chevelle SS sounds pretty sweet at idle and between 1-5k rmps, anything above it, however, sounds like an electric can-opener. Then you put on a racing exhaust....it sorta sounds like the car on the F1 game on the atari 2600.

The Shelby Cobra sounded like a Skyline R32 Type-M when they are both with racing exhausts, but the Speedster had the same exact sound with stock exhaust and racing exhaust, not one bit of difference except HP and Torque in GT3.

Everyone, just get a Mercedes 160 Avantgarde, and install a Racing Exhaust, and you will have 2 car sounds at once, one sound at low RPM and another at high RPM, it's wierd.

The most bizarre sounding cars in GT4 are the Nike 2022, Toyota Tri-Athalon race car, honda S500(this one sounds cool), and the muscle cars they dont sound realistic at all:yuck:

I think they did pretty swell on the Rotarys they did the best job on the 4Rotor though but the 2 and 3 rotors sound good too they did a good job differntiating their sounds:tup:

I think they got the old muscle car low rev engine "tick" pretty good. The current DTM cars sound quite wierd considering they're V8s.

I was just racing the Aston Martin Vanquish and when you come out of a corner and it has to build up speed again it makes this faint growling noise. I thought it was quite strange.

it may have something to do with the mods to if you want to try it, it is mostly stock but with racing exhaust and computer chip.

oh and the Saleen rims. :P (not that it matters and they look a bit crap on it too)

Edit:
I just noticed it does it most when you hold it in gear through a corner e.g. If the car wants to drop to 2nd and you hold it in 3rd or if it wants to drop to 1st and you hold it in 2nd or even more if it wants to drop to 1st and you hold it in 3rd... you get the idea...

Well said, and I agree. It seems to be a sadly true case (sad for most, the Corvette L46 sorely needs a new engine note) for the majority of musclecars out there.

Pole Position! I used to have Pole Position years ago

Yeah, sports & semi-racing exhausts often sound like vacuum cleaners, bandsaws, dremel drills, etc. 👎 Except on Japanese cars, of course...I was driving a Mitsubishi 3000GT SL last nite, and each exhaust sounds GREAT :grumpy: Oh well.

I play Pole Position now, thanks to Namco Museum. An excellent game it is.

I agree with your comment on the Japanese cars. You'd think a Japanese company would make a better effort than that for their native cars!

if you think about it, JGTC NSX's sound pretty different to normal NSX's (like alot more sharper)

ps. I havent heard a JGTC NSX nor a normal NSX ever before (they arent available in my country) so I would have no idea

Not really sure, usually I play with music blaring, but the Escudo on a Dirt Track goes really well with Heavy-Metal...lol

I have said this in another thread, but it was probably more appropriate to post it here.

I won the Chevrolet Chevelle SS '70 a while ago, and I put a racing exhaust on it. It then proceeded to sound like a Nissan Skyline from GT3, not at all like a V8 of any sort.

The Takata Dome NSX sounds like its being half strangled. It kinda gurgles at the top end of the rev range.
