I like the Mazda 787B sound, THAT does not sound weak.

What happened to the R390 sound from GT2? It used to sound similar to the Minolta (which I also like) but now it sounds like crap.

The Escudo: 👎

The R390 uses almost the same engine of the Nissan R89C, just a bit less HP to keep it within the regulations. Tom Walkinshaw racing TWR (the designer of the Jaguar-XJR 9-15) which developed the car and NISMO resurrected the engine of the R89C Group-C car because the inline-6 cylinder engines of the Skyline-LM cars were old and outdated. The R89C, a 3,5 L V8 aluminium block engine is also lower which helps to lower the center of gravity.

AFAIK the R390 uses a less powerful turbo. (640HP)

The R89-C sounds very accurate compared to the real car.

What? The R390 GT1 produces the sexiest sound ever! Same goes for the R89C and R92CP.

I would like to add that a fully modded Lancer Evo. III with good ratios and stock exhaust sounds great! I put 1900 miles on it already... :) Life is great.

Ford Falcon GT (tickford or whatever..) and the tuned 500hp S2000.

Mercedes SLR Mclaren or the SL500 is a grave injustice, I swear PD did that to turn people off from driving Mercedes...

just a little question,

How much does the upgraded exhaust change the cars' sound? are there much differences between the upgrades, related to sound?

Sorry if this has been asked before...

Thanks in advance!

Mazda 787B - Its still screams after GT3 so thats cool.
Nissan R92CP - Strange sound, but I love it.
Motul Pitwork Z - Somewhat close to the real car, but still great.
Dodge Viper GTS-R - I've loved the sound since GT2 and glad to see it stayed unchanged.
Ford GT40 - Love the Raspy sound of that V8
Ford GT - I don't like the race car's sound, but love the road car as it sounds like a V8, not some defective Vacuum.
Pescarolo C60 Peugeot - Love it. I have a race from 2003 and it sounds just like the real car.
Honda S2000 LM Race Car - Love the new sound, though I miss the sound from GT3.
Panoz Esperante GTR-1 - While I think it should have kept its Raspy sound from GT3, I actually have started to like it because it sounds like the Audi R10 onboard to me.
TVR Cerbera Speed 12 - It sounds great.
Those are my answers.

I think the Chaparral 2J, detuned, has one of the most aggressive exhaust tones in the game. It is sort of muted by the snowmobile engines sucking it down to the road, but the car sounds like a true American machine, with that deep bass accompanying a treble section at high RPMs.

The original Gt40's have that lovely 'gurgly' engine sound! X^D Otherwise I'm fond of the interesting revs of the '6something 2000GT-B Skyline. Oh and how 'bout that super silent Prius engine? ;^D

Try these:

M5, stock exhaust
Viper srt10, sport exhaust
Spyker, sport exhaust
Mazda 787 just sounds great from itself
Amuse gt1, race exhaust (it screams!)
Audi tt dtm (most realistic sound i think)
Aston martin vanquish/db9, race exhaust
Pagani Zonda
Audi tt 3.2, stock

And the best: Mercedes Sl55 AMG with race exhaust. It sounds like the formula 1 safety car :D

Looks like you all love the sound of the pescarolo. But i think it doesn't sound that good.

Some cars that I just found that sound awesome:

Shelby Cobra - Love the of that Classic V8. At idle and in revving, it sounds awesome

Chapperal 2D - Same as the cobra, just awesome.

Jaguar XJR-9 - Really sounds incredible at low revs and in idle.

My apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I'd assume that's preferable to opening a new one.

I've been on a hunt for the past few days to find the best sounding engine in the game, and although my search is far from over, I've got to say that the Nissan Fairlady Z has one of the most impressive sounds I've ever heard a car (real or otherwise) make. It's also one of the only cars I've found that's sounded great stock, with a semi-racing exhaust, and with a racing exhaust. It's powerful, it's loud, and it's pretty fast as well. I can't remember the exact name of the car (away from the PS2 at the moment), but I believe it's one of the 'Full Models' available in Nismo, and it's silver with a red/black decal on the hood, and it comes with black rims. I'd strongly suggest you check it out if you've got a bit of extra coin.
