Which car has the best sound in GT4!?

PD needs to hire me to work on engine sounds. I mean the damn DS2 should be vibrating when you put an exhaust on the E55 AMG.

Talk about it, my Buick GNX fully modified sounds like a bobbin winder on my grandmother's old sewing machine.

yeah. really really dissapointing. There are lots of turbo 3.8 buicks in my town, and they sound nothing like the GNX in GT4.

ooh I found a car that sounds great: all nissan silvias and skylines. They sound exactly as they should. too bad they're a minority.

The 62 Buikck Special or "BuWicked", as it should be named, sounds the best. It has a really grumpy cam and a nice lope to it. I heard the Corvette C5R today and it sounds attrocious. It sounds worse than a four cylinder. It sounds even worse than it did in GT3. They have had five years to get this right. The 70 Chevelle sounds almost correct, but when you put aftermarket exhaust on in the game, it sounds like Skyline; nothing like any big block I have ever heard. I don't know what it is with PD that they just don't care how the American cars sound, but they make sure every Japanese car sounds correct.

overall all the sounds are great. but how does an integra with race exhaust completely drown out a plymouth barracuda with race exhaust? i was hoping i could hear some real muscle cars growl and scream but PD dropped the ball again....

That is very true! They both have a much more and throaty and rich sound to them. Especially the NSX. I was pleasantly surprised by that, and also by how much it actually improves the driving experience. Likewise so can a bad engine/exhaust note rune it.

I bought a new 02 NSX type R, and it sounded great stock. It had a nice deep growl to it. After I upgraded it to full racing exhaust however, it lost that deep growl, and started sounding much more raspy. What's up with that? I was expecting it to do some serious growling but was thoroughly dissapoointed. Oh well. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to sound?

The NISMO 400R with upgraded turbo on the other hand, is music to my ears. :)

Plus I love just about any other GT spec race cars. They have that high pitch whining sound to them. Sounds very powerful.

Just as a guess, but judging by the picture of the race exhaust in the tune shops, it is a race header & straight pipe with no muffler. this has the tendency to do this in RL, so maybe something they wanted to replicate.

I have the Amuse GT1 S2K & it absolutely screams @ 9-10,000 rpms....just a beautiful, beautiful resonance.

for those of you that gripe about the engine sounds, how many of you use the in car camera vs the 3rd person perspective... Just wondering, since I have noticed in a lot of games the exhaust notes are muffled for the in car view, and subsequentially, the engine sound along with turbo and gears are more noticeable.

I don't have the game yet, but this is common in most racing games, one of the reasons I always play behind the car, That and I like to look at the car.
In GT4 its the exact opposite,(this may be a game error) the in car is louder than the 3rd person. Also installing modified exhaust destroys most of the car sounds.
I run stock exhaust on most of my cars for this very reason.

I just wish the cars with big turbo upgrades would have some sound to a external wastegate. Example a 2jz with single turbo with external wastegate sounds so damn sexy. In the game u just hear the turbo spool pretty much.... nothing else.... wish they would work on that.

Fav sounding car..... i have no clue... maybe i could tell ya if i was bit further in the game.

One time at a gas station I saw this Ferrari 550 Maranello, the owner of it who was filling it up saw me looking at that car for a long time (I was like 16 back then) and pulled over right in front of me telling me that I could take a look inside. So when he was about to leave I asked him to pull off with a burn out ( :dopey: ) but he was like "nawww, that would make me look like a show-off" (haha, yeah lets buy a ferrari to not want to show it off).... anyway it surprised me that it almost sounded like an electrical sewing machine than a sports car when he drove off. Pretty disappointing when expecting a howl, haha.

Not trying to flame or anything... But it seems that in every thead like this, there are always 3 or 4 people putting this car down.

Dunno how that one got in there? :dunce:

Honestly I use to love skylines, but their over hyped now-a-days. Seems everyone and their brother who's seen F&F and 2F2F are now die-hard skyline fans.

Great car, but 90% of their fan base no know nothing about it. Not saying thats you Max_DC, just the skylines fan base in general.

Uh...last I checked the R34 Skyline was NOT a domestic car.

Let me be a bit more specific about the 69 vette. It sounds nice in the replays. Probably very similar to what they really sound like if you are in a glider flying fifty feet overhead and listening to one drive around town. In-car, or rather during the race while in the first person grill view, it sounds anemic.

The 440 Charger and 69 Camaro Z/28 sound incredible! The old Shelbys sound great! The Ford GT sounds weak, the 69 Camaro SS sounds terrible, the Cuda 440 sounds fairly quiet, the superbird is middle-of-the-road nice, the Charger hemi super bee sounds fair to middlin', the 454 Chevelle SS is just so-so.

You get the picture? Some of them sound like real muscle cars. Others sound like sedans, and most sound terribly underpowered while racing, and most sound comparatively decent in the replays.

I agree the Chevelle definitely doesn't sound like a rumbling big block V8 or the SS 396 sound I remember (my dad used to own a 64 SS).

Ferarris are quiet at low rpms but when you run them to the redline they sound awesome. Theres a ferarri dealership up the street from me and ive seen a few in the area. I would just love to ride in one, they have to handle amazingly.

all i know is that i bought a 00 camaro ss and it sounded so aweful i quit driving it. i cant figure out what it sounds like but its not a v8 thats for sure. whats so hard about getting that sound right. its not like there arent many of them over here.

the porsches..er...rufs sound good though.

What I have heard from videos, Group B rally car sounds are very close to real (I haven't hear all), Le Mans cars sound great and Shelby Cobra's sound is fantastic!

I've only had GT4 for three days now and my opinion is that PD got some sounds right, some wrong, and some just plain f@#$:

Aston Martin Vanquish 👍

HPA R32 👎 👎 Really disappointing. I had a modified Jetta VR6 and this sounds NOTHING at all like it. If you watch in car videos of a Corvette C5R, it sounds EXACTLY like this. Very disappointing

VW R32   see HPA R32

HKS Silvia 👎 👎 Sounds like a skyline

Nissan Silivia K's Aero S15 w/ sport exhaust 👍 👍 Sounds Good

CWest S15 Silvia 👍 👍 Sounds even better

Mitsubishi Evo VII GSR with Racing Exhaust 👎 👎 This one is just plain F@#$

I think PD got the sounds mixed up for the cars. The M3 CSL with racing exhaust sounds like a Skyline. I have been fortunate enough to hear both cars with racing exhaust and the M3 sounds nothing like the Skyline.

Thats all I have on the sound issue so far.

The Nurburgring Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
