The Nissan Motul Pitwork Z (JGTC) ('04) sounds awesome, it has such a loud sound compared to other cars. At the beginning of a race when you rev it, all you hear is it.

I'm a musclecar kinda guy, and some of them are weak in the game (new camaros and z06) while others aren't bad... I personally like the Plymouth Superbird... Shelby Cobra aint bad either

sir heavy foot
I've only had GT4 for three days now and my opinion is that PD got some sounds right, some wrong, and some just plain f@#$:

Aston Martin Vanquish 👍

HPA R32 👎 👎 Really disappointing. I had a modified Jetta VR6 and this sounds NOTHING at all like it. If you watch in car videos of a Corvette C5R, it sounds EXACTLY like this. Very disappointing

VW R32   see HPA R32

HKS Silvia 👎 👎 Sounds like a skyline

Nissan Silivia K's Aero S15 w/ sport exhaust 👍 👍 Sounds Good

CWest S15 Silvia 👍 👍 Sounds even better

Mitsubishi Evo VII GSR with Racing Exhaust 👎 👎 This one is just plain F@#$

I think PD got the sounds mixed up for the cars. The M3 CSL with racing exhaust sounds like a Skyline. I have been fortunate enough to hear both cars with racing exhaust and the M3 sounds nothing like the Skyline.

Thats all I have on the sound issue so far.

The Nurburgring Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah I had a VR6 with an aftermarket exhaust in a MK II jetta and it sounded so sexy. The ones in the game sound strangled.

M3 GTR with stock exhaust is the best sounding car I have come across so far.

The stock RUF BTR is the best sounding car in the game to me. Whenever i have about 10 or 15 minutes to play GT4, I just sit down, go in arcade mode, get a yellow BTR, and slide it around the 'Ring.....god, I need to get off the computer and go play GT4 now!!!!

Does C5-R sound like american V8 now or does it still sound like what it was in GT3? I watched video from real life C5-R and it sounded so great, very American and powerful sound! And what about Corvette Z06 Race Car -63 , does it sound a bit same than Shelby Cobra?

theres people saying the gnx sounds bad? i think the sound is right on in my opinion. sounds great. they got the hum perfect. the car as a whole is dissapointing though. it could have been awesome, but its handicaped by horsepower. i think i got like 5 and change out of mine and fully tuned it. very dissapointing. there are many 800,900,1000hp and above grand nationals out there. but i guess they had to leave their halo car at the top of the heap for turbo cars, the skyline. early in the game i got a r32 gtr n1 to do the 4wd race. i put a exahaust on it and got 100hp from it. thats redicioulous.

I don't like the way a lot of the cars sound, but the race cars, those sound the best. I never really enjoyed driving the race cars in GT3 but the way they handle and the sound they make in GT4, its mindblowing. They did an awesome job on their sounds. I love driving the Woodone Supra and all the different NSX race cars. Even just sitting there listening to the idle noise it makes is amazing.

I'm really disappointed in the muscle car sounds though, you put the full exhaust on the Chevelle and it sounds like a vacuum. How could they screw up a 454 ci V8 that badly? There is one American car I have to say I think they did a pretty good job on, the SRT-10 Viper. The interior noise sucks but when you listen to it from the outside it has that angry hum almost 4-cyl type sound that the Viper has.

Not trying to flame or anything... But it seems that in every thead like this, there are always 3 or 4 people putting this car down.

Dunno how that one got in there? :dunce:

Honestly I use to love skylines, but their over hyped now-a-days. Seems everyone and their brother who's seen F&F and 2F2F are now die-hard skyline fans.

Great car, but 90% of their fan base no know nothing about it. Not saying thats you Max_DC, just the skylines fan base in general.

I agree, on some notes. Yes, 90% of skyline fans don't know anything about the car. I'd say 90% don't even know that the skyline has been around for a long time, not just the R34. I disagree with you saying the skyline is over hyped. That is partly true. I belive the R34 is over hyped, not the R33 or R32. There are too many F & F "kids" out there who only think a car is cool if it's been in a movie. I'm a die hard GTR fan, but not b/c of F & F. It's sad that all of these amazing cars: R34, RX-7, EVO, get ruined b/c of stupid hollywood. I don't know what is going on anymore. Sorry I'm venting....but, I hate that there are so many fakers out there. It seems like all of the die hard "tuners" have been surpresed buy these highschool ricers. When will people learn, it's not about show, it's about go, well that is my opinion. But I feel in order to really appreciate cars, you must FIRST understand how they operate and function. Some people don't understand that that spoiler you bought at Pep Boy's is NOT FUNCTIONAL and the body kits add weight. I hope I'm not the only one who gets frustrated and angry. I have so much to say, but I've already digressed enough, so back to the topic. I haven't heard a lot of cars, but the HPA R32 sounds AMAZING!!

Does anybody else have this issue:

When in 'bumper-cam' mode, the RR cars like the RUF and air-cooled VW's don't have any engine sound-- at all.

I can hear the wind, and if I go into a tunnel, I can hear the engine echoing off the walls, but no engine sound at all. It's like they forgot to include the sound file.

I'm an ACVW nut, so this bothers me a lot.

You've probably got your sound system set up wrong... the engine sound for MR and RR cars comes from the rear speakers, just as it should.

Along the subject of engine sounds, has anyone gotten the McMerc SLR to sound anything like it's supposed to? Any combination of tuning/mufflers that gives it back it's grumble/roar?

Ya know, you're probably right.
I'm playing on the 19" 'spare room' TV, and it connects via co-ax into a mono speaker.
I'll check the settings tonight. thanks for the heads up.

All I can say is: The Corvette Grand Sport (1996) doesn't sound anything like the real car. Not even vaguely. Not even just a little. It sounds like a generic whiney 4 cylinder engine noise.

I know what one is supposed to sound like because I own one and race it in RL.

None of the vettes in the game sound like vettes. I guess Polyphony doesn't have any real corvettes in Japan to sample the engine sounds.

Nope C5R does not sound anything remotely close to its real life counterpart. I have been to the Petit LeMans, and when the C5R goes by at wide open throttle, it shakes the trees and your ear drums. Its such a deep bellowing growl. It gives me the shivers thinking about it.
