Theres alot of good car sounds in GT4 , but can someone tell me why the Audi R8, Toyota Minolta 89 and the genki silvia all sound like tuned skylines (RB26) despite the fact that both the audi and the toyota have V8 twin turbos and the genki silvia has an sr20 2litre turbo.

They shouldn't sound like tuned skylines, but they are pretty dull engine notes in real life. If anything I think the sound for the R8 is a bit too raspy. It's very loud but very dull. And the same goes for the Toyota, even though it had a V8, it was actually a dull engine note. Also I think that the Toyota GT1 sounds a little too raspy (it also used a V8). Again it sounded like the Audi and was very plain and dull and not to exciting. I find some of the Le Mans prototypes are either too meaty or way not meaty enough. The only ones which come close are the Sauber (had a big raspy V8) and Mazda.
Has anyone heard the Jaguar XJ9R yet? I haven't heard it yet, and in theory it should sound virtually the same as the Lister as the Lister basically used virtually the same engine as the Jaguar. Which leeds me onto say I thought the Lister sounds great and accurate.
I was very very dissapointed with the McLaren F1 and the BMW LMR, they should of had shreiking V12 and both of them sounded like poo in a can being chucked around.
I haven't got very far in the game yet so I don't know what half the cars sound like. But all in all I think PD have done a phenominal job and it's definatly the best GT they've done yet. I'm finding the AI very competitive and some good racing going on.
One little thing, I think the Elise sounds pretty sexy and I was impressed they'd taken into consideration of the fact that the higher you rev the elise, when you reach certain revs it comes onto the power cam and you get more power like the car in real life. Nice little touch!

m0j0NL: The chaparals had V8's. Would of been a nice little touch if they made you drive them only as automatics, and you couldn't drive them as manual.

Ferarris are quiet at low rpms but when you run them to the redline they sound awesome. Theres a ferarri dealership up the street from me and ive seen a few in the area. I would just love to ride in one, they have to handle amazingly.

Ferrari's are very veyr quiet at low revs but when you give them some poke they make the most fantastic shrill ever. A month or two back me and my old man were comming back from Goodwood revival circuit (we just went up there to see if anything special was running on an open track day) and on teh way back comming up to a roundabout a 308 Ferrari screamed by infront. So i just told my old man to catch up with it. He flawed it and the Ferrari was a good way infront, but by the thrid roundabout we'd just caught up with it. Comming up behind it as it was waiting at the roundabout it was dead quiet and silky smooth. Then when we pulled up beside it and he noticed us, we reved it and so did he, and low revs it was quiet again but when it went high OMG you've never heard anything quite like it. So we raced off, and we got the measure of him off the line and absolutly thrashed him to the next roundabout, then went around there and bombed it off there with him still just keeping up. Anyway we hit about 120mph and my old mans car is..well it's like trying to push a brick through the air at that speed and so the Ferrari caught up and passed us, and.......jesus. What a sound. I've never heard anything better than having that 308 scream past us at 120mph and full chat. It was phenominal. Although we must of been making some sound cause whenever we were comming up to round about everyone was moving over to the left hand lane and right out the way for us. Musta been a hell of a site. anyway, Ferrari's are best appreciated at full chat!

Very true, although if I had the money I'd much prefer a TVR or Noble or something way over a Ferrari.

TVRs have sexy engine notes (straight sixes and V8s for the most part, right?) but I definitely wouldn't prefer a supercharged ford V6 engine (from a mondeo no less) over a ferrari V12.

Have you ever heard the racket a Lamborghini Murcielago makes? It's straight out of hell, but soooooooooooo beautiful. BRRAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRR.

The roads are so bad here I can't imagine what the person was thinking when he bought it, but I'm glad I got to witness the sound. It's terrifying.

My favorite sounding engine so far has to be a fully tweaked BMW M5. If you let it Idle it sounds like a top fuel dragster. I just can't believe it's coming from a BMW.

Yeah they only stick to Straight 6's and V8's, and they make a bloody good job of them as well.
Yeah a couple of years back some ponce at a school I used to go to, got his dad to pick him up in the coach park infront of a couple of hundred kids in his bran new Diablo I think....show off. Anyway the sound it made was God like and, I just turned to my mate and said "I've just come in my pants like.......4 times". It is quite demonic.

Ha ha ha, that's where something like a 190 Elise comes in handy and you whoop the ass off of it!

their bark is certainly more fierce than their bite, what with them being bigger than a house and all... :)

Haha thats for sure. Plus you look like a goon trying to park them.

Come on someone must of tried out the XJ9R? Anyone?!
I just won that today. Nice and fast ride and it sounds just like the Jaguar race car that was in GT3.

The RUFs sound pretty good, also the straight 6's from the Z4, M3 and M3 CSL sound incredibly realistic.

The perfect realistic sound? Maybe the NSX-R, AE86 and some Subaru Impreza.

PS: I forgot the Renault 5 Turbo2 :)

The DB9 has a great engine note lookin back from the roof cam. But my favourite so far (not to mention my most kik ass car is the Fairlady GT Concept car. The sound is wow! and it just eats the opposition!!

Have driven the Bentley in the Super Licence test and wasnt as impressed with its noise but the speed!!!!!!!!! :nervous: :nervous:

I'm VERY surprised that no one metioned the Camaro IROC-Z concept car (red)
The way this car sounds is just awesome. I dont think i'll find another sounding car better than this in GT4. I beat the camaro "one make races" to get this car. I just gave it a test drive jus to check it out, and when I heard its sound, I just said WOW. Thats my overall favorite sounding car in GT4. Does anyone agree? Or does anyone own this car? Or unlocked it?

I was kinda expecting a more realistic sound for the Viper GTS. PD just decided to keep the same sound (also the dam 3 colors!!). I heard Vipers before, and they dont sound like a refrigerator cooler as the Viper GTS ones in GT4.

From what I have driven so far in GT4.
I would have to say the Honda NSX-R concept with a stage 1 exhaust upgrade, is the best sounding car in the game.

The SRT-4 w/full race exhaust sounds exactly like a 4-banger should, and the sound should of been used for most of the 4-cylinder Civics instead of rehashing that stupid bee hive sound in GT3.

NOOO!!! Jesus christ PD, I knw u guys were under preassure but that is inexcusable! It should have exactly the same sound as the Lister, christ it has the same engine as it.......*shakes head*
Which race did u win it in?

I got 50%

Yeah I was dissappointed at a lot of sounds. Perticularly the BMW's (the M3 CSL isnt too bad but not what I hoped). Some of the Skylines and NSX's sound better but then again many cars sound like how the skyline did in the old game, its like the skyline sound is generic for most cars in GT4. I have found that a racing exhaust can actually ruin a lot of sounds for cars (especially the Shelby Cobra) but can make a great sound out of a few ('05 GT Mustang).

I havn't driven alot of cars so far, but the best sounding ones ive driven are probably a Chevelle with a racing muffler, a stock Callaway, and the Buick Special.

I haven't driven a lot cars yet but the TVRV8 sounds good. Not overly loud or powerful, but nice and deep.

That's with a stage 1 NA tune by the way.

as far as great sounding cars go the woodone supra and charger rt sound awesome i own the pal version of the game and am extremely happy with it. this thread reveals more of the ungreats who were present in the thread on unreal acceleration and top speed. look there are some problems with the game but i paid 80$ AUD for gt4 and $110 AUD for GT3 so im not complaining about value for money or any of that other bull people have been on about.
one thing that has troubled me a bit about gt4 is that i saw a mitsibushi evo beat a mercedes sl 500 and a zonda as well in beginner mode not to sure bout the "simulator" factor there anyway wrong forum so i better shut up.

Best sounding cars so far (5% completed) are: Shelby Cobra, Shelby Series 1, Callaway, TVR:s, Renault Maxi 5 Turbo, Group B Peugeots, Cadillac Cien (mid revs), Mitsubishi Starion (sounds a bit like Rally quattro at certain rews), Old rally Celica (the Safari model) and Nissan R92CP.

can someone pls tell me if the aston martin vanquish sounds any good?

because ive stood next to one in real life and when the driver revved it, i realised that the sound i heard was and always will be the best sound ive ever heard come from a machine.
ive heard alot of performance cars, rode in alot of interesting cars, everything from a 20psi boosted WRX, S.E. corvette sting ray, a 300kw vtec turbo honda, even a joyride in a supercharged jaguar XJ8, but after hearing a vanquish for a split second, i was in permanent shock. undiscribably unique.

Just a 787 question....is it NA or Turbo?? Because on a certain mission *spoiler*where all mazdas start before you, it's at Laguna Seca*end of spoiler* I drove it a while, a couple of laps and it was NA.....in GT3 it was Turbo, right??

Yes, in my opinion the Vanquish sounds great, but I haven't been near one in real life :(

What does joyride mean? :(
