It may have been said already i have only read this first page quickly, the Test track is Lang Lang Speedway or is a very close derivative.

I think you and I are the only ones here who know where Lang Lang is Niz :) , but I doubt a circular banked oval would be unique in the world.
Speaking of our patch of the world, I've always wondered if TM was a reconstructed version of Mount Panorama.

Hmmmm 24hr TM endurance anyone?

Everyone knows Monaco is real... its been used on the Formula One season ever since Formula One was invented...

Its THE most famous circuit in the world.
So then, LeMans would be the most famous 'Track' and Daytona be the most famous 'Oval' :D

I know that it is a forum only of GT. and I love GT more than what ever game o race
but let me speack abot the tracks of Gothan Project 2 fr Xbox. realy so very orked.

Not a good way to start off, newb :D

I sure don't know what's wrong with you people, always acting like d**** man can you guys just be polite for once, all I see in GTPlanet is pure negativity.

Other than that I would say the real tracks are Laguna Seca, Corte `de Azur, but I don't think thats the real name, other than that I don't know. Good Luck to you too there's a lot of D**** here in GTPlanet.

I was giving advice :sly:

Now something along the lines of shut the eff up or you suck or you're retarted, that's impoliteness. Is it unfair to hint every now and then? :D

PGR is offtopic, I was trying to redirect him or suggest he stay on topic...

Not completely O.T.
In GT2, there is one licence test with the Toyota GTone and the 1st time I took the test my 1st reaction was ( I was born in Belgium ) Oh my god, that's exactly like the scary Eau-Rouge raidillon at Spa Francorchamps circuit. Does anyone remember ?

Nope, but now that we all know your from Belgium, does it concern you if Tony or Toni Gillet's cars are gonna be in GT4 as in the previous GT3 game. Just wondering :dopey:

My dad had a Gillet ...in 1952 . Of course it was a Gillet motorcycle ;)
To be honest, I don't care if there will be a Vertigo or not in GT4. I prefer more "humble" cars like the Subaru LM edition or the Denso Supra.
My opinion is that the Vertigo made it in GT3 because PD couldn't get a license from Ferrari, the same reason why Ruff made it too.

Here's my map of Rome. I got the street maps from romebuddy.com

romemap.jpg

As for Special Stage Route 5 and Route 11, I disagree with an earlier post that they share the front straightaway and pits, differences being new development. Tokyo's expressways are numbered Route 1, 2, 3, etc. so logically (in this forum, logic?) Route 5 and Route 11 are different places. From what I can find, Route 11 is in the Odaiba area, which has a ferris wheel and a suspension bridge (Rainbow Bridge), but it's not a cable-stay bridge like the one on Route 11 in the game. Also, in the game there's a roller coaster around the base of the ferris wheel, and in my mind, that makes it Cosmo World in Yokohama. The Yokohama bay bridge is cable-stayed, too, but much larger than what's in the game. I can't find anything remotely resembling roads that would make the course, though.
I know nothing about Tokyo personally, have never been there, but I've spent some time on an on-line map that the Japan National Tourist Organization has, at

http://www.jnto.go.jp/mapindex/E/index.html

and I've Googled a lot of ferris wheels and bridges.

It may well be that both courses are fantasy courses incororating real-world elements, but all those buildings and stuff seems like an awful lot of trouble to fake something out. However, some weird things pop out in my mind. That part of Route 11 that goes under what looks like a freeway to make that hard right turn. . . . That freeway overhead goes nowhere. Maybe it's a monkey zoo up there.

I do know the Seattle course features the the old and the new stadium.(Near the bottom of straightaway) I'm sure by now the new stadium has been built.

as a GT designer member i would know and your answers are no there not real but yes the street courses are roads around the area but there not race courses laguna seca and monaco are real but cannot be copied to the real track eg the graphics and the courses don't look exactly the same but were allowed to be based the track only in the game the graphics around are made up! Test course is real and super speedway is real to a certain extent as well

That's pretty much it. The other city tracks are loosely based on the real cities abut as far as I know there are no actual configurations like them.

Some of them are in fact quite odd. I tend to look at the road, not the scenery, so I've probably missed some things. For instance, I'm wondering how it's possible for Grand Valley to cross that body of water once on the big bridge, but not on the return side of the track.
Welcome to GTP, B!

hmmmm... i think mabye you cross it again when going through one of those tunnels, otherwise who knows?

Well, I read every page. Good work to those who contributed to the thread. I can't vouch for many of the other circuits; but I do think a few GT3 tracks are based on old circuit designs.

Apricot Hill bears a resemblance to the old Jarama circuit.

Midfield Raceway is a little bit like a cross between the Fiorano and Suzuka circuits.

The Seattle Circuit course in GT3 has Safco Field and the old Kingdome. In a post I made a few months ago, I listed all the streets and turns (I was bored at work that day) and mentioned that the new Seahawk's Exhibition Center wihich is right next to the Seahawk's Stadium (Qwest Field) and parking structure occupies the former parking lot that is used to make the turns after you go across the railroad tracks for the "box" corners.

BTW, the replacement for the Kingdome, Seahawks Stadium/Qwest Field, has been in use for 3 years now.

What about Grand Valley Speedway? It has a blue bridge in between three tunnels. It's also a lakeside track with an alternate route (Grand Valley East Section.) How many real race tracks have that?

Understand - all of the urban tracks are strongly based on the actual cities and sights.

Other than Monaco, however, I don't believe that the tracks as configured are real layouts, or could even be made in real life. I believe a fair amount of liberty was taken in arranging selected pieces of the actual cities.

I could well be wrong, however; if anybody has definitive info I'd love to see it.

I've been to Monaco personally when they were setting up barriors for the grand prix of monte carlo, and it was absolutely identical to "Cote'd Azur" in GT3. And about R246, it looks so damn real, so if anybody knows if its actually real or just a based-on, let me know (bigtom21485@yahoo.com)!

Also, who is the GENIOUS behind "String Complex"? That's still my favorite place to do a trial-and-error tuning session (seriously, the only thing that isnt there is a DYNO!).
