I've never understood how it's possible to drive from the chase views, I just can't get a sense of where my car is, and the car itself tends to block the view of the road ahead.

Maybe it's because I've had decent amount of real tracktime, but I've always found it impossible to use anything but the inside views in games, even going way back to stuff like Crusin' USA, well before GT was out.

I have always loved cockpit cam because it's immersive and more challenging but on the PSP I just need the screen real estate so it's bumpber cam or roof cam.

Normlally I don't like cams that show you the car but again, the PSP screen makes me choose what works.

Nevermind I figured it out. The side mirrors are indeed there. They're just off-screen. I bumped when I was in the cockpit view in the camera shifted a little and I was able to catch a glimpse of the side mirror.

I use "first person" or bumper cam (same thing) since day 1. Cockpit cam is a nice novelty but all that blackness is distracting and leaves me feeling I'm not using the full potential of my screen. The one good thing is you get to use a side view mirror. A bad thing is you don't get to see both side view mirrors.

1st person (bumper cam) for serious racing. Cockpit for fun.

In rally races I find it's easier to use the behind the car camera (Chase?), you can see where you're going and how far the back of the car has slid out.

For everything else I use Bumper view because I find it easier to do actual racing like that.

I love the cockpit cam as for me it's the most fun and shows off the great work PD has done so I use it as much as possible, but I find myself using the bumper cam when needing to set a fast time as I find I can drive more accurately in the first person view. If only I was rich and could affrord 3 TVs' PS3s' and and copys' of GT5 so I could have the full left and right views cry! (if that's still possible like it was in GT4?)

behind the car for just about everything defintly the best for drifting. But i have found myself using the roof cam for some of the technical driving challenges

Bumper cam for everything apart from drifting where I use Behind the car cam.

I'm so surprised the Roof Cam has the least number of votes... I feel it's unmatched in giving you a sense of where your car is, what it's doing, and where to spot your braking points and apexes.

I use the roof cam exclusively now. It gives me the best all-around field of view (forward and to the sides) of the track. I always use the first-person mode in GT3/GT4 (and only with the Logitec wheel), but I started off with the third-person cam with GT PSP... until I realized that I was admiring the cars too much and really should be concentrating on the tarmac!

Depends, I use the cockpit view for open cockpit LMP's and a few Group B cars and many other cars, and the roof cam for everything else, like the F2007.

I am still not final on my choice. Probably never will ever be. I found the roof cam especially enjoyable with LM cars. But the roof cam is not that good for rally cars where there are many direction changes going on.

Oh well at lease we have something to choose :)

I enjoy all the views but when i need to push i use first person, i think i can feel the physics of the car better than the other views.

The cockpit view. Out of all of them, it gives the best sense of speed, especially on rally courses.

The behind-car view is good for drift races.

I still keep on switching. I really do like the cockpit view, but now I tend to use the roof view more and more.

-> I do first-person (aka. the bumper cam) since GT3. The cockpit view feels too claustrophobic for me (and I drive an S2000, which is basically the same thing! :ouch:). :indiff:

Cockpit view, because its the best simulation, I feel like I'm cheating if I use any other view. That's just me though.

Its also the best for sense of speed, with the narrowing of the field of view.

I find I drive best with the roof cam. It gives you the best view of the upcoming turns and obstacles while also giving youa great sense of exactly where your car is heading. I like the outside cam bcuz you can look your gorgeous car but it's hard to sense exactly what direction your car is pointed. the front bumper cam works but It's to low so I find it hard to use. I enjoy the cockpit cam and would probably always use it if the screen were bigger but i think it's the most fun to use anyway. The roof cam is my favorite. #1-Roof #2-Cockpit #3-outside #4-front bumper (in order of my preference)

^ that is exactly my order too. I think in GT5 I will use the cockpit though, because the resolution is higher, you will see better from it.

wow cool. I thought I would be alone with that order. alot of people love the front bumper cam but not me. I'm also thinking the same thing for GT5, w/a bigger screen and better resolution I'm gonna use the cockpit cam. especially w/my steering wheel. I played alot of Forza 3 with the In-Cockpit view and it's more fun I think as long as you got a decent size TV. the Lambo Reventon was actually way easier for me to drive inside and it had nothing to do with the really cool Fighter Jet style digital dash it has. Also the inside of the Bugatti Veyron is amazing to look at too

very well said man. how the hell does the roof cam have the least votes? it's so weird bcuz as you said there's no other view with a better sense of where your cars pointed, what's coming ahead on the road, and how your car's behaving. I put the first person view as my least favorite and it's getting all the vote

The roof cam is too high for me, so I feel like I'm driving a double decker bus and I can't feel the car's centre of gravity well (except for the Formula cars, because roof cam in those is still very low anyway). If the roof cam is a bit lower and bit more forwards placed (like bonnet view) then it'll be better for me.

When I first played racing games 7 or so years ago, I used to use the chase cam all the time because I like to see the car I'm actually driving. However, I can't judge the car's boundaries well and I kept getting too close to walls and other cars, resulting in a lot of crashes lol. It also obstructs the view of the road directly in front of you, so since then chase view is a big no-no for me.

Cockpit view is pretty new for me, and in GT5P I actually like driving in cockpit view, especially with my wheel. In GTPSP however, it reduces the field of view too much. Coupled with the digital controls, it doesn't feel 'right' at all to use.

All of the reasons above led me to use the bumper view, and since my switch to this view around 5 years ago, it has always produced my fastest and most consistent driving.

I would also prefer the hood camera like in GT4 but I still have the easiest time with the roof cam for this game at least. I was the same way at first w/racing games, I always used the behind the car view but as you said, you don't get a good idea of exactly what direction the car's pointed in.
The cockpit cam is great on a big TV and especially when you have a steering wheel. I think any racing game that I've played is not only more precise but more fun with a steering wheel. I love mine and it's only a basic one. I wanna try one that has the clutch
