The one I use in real life, roof cam of course (don't ask).

Trying out cars, casual racing and whatnot = cockpit, no hud, map on (used to have it off but it's useful to tell if someone is coming).

Serious hardcore lifeordeath racing = bumper cam (no roof), hud on. I'm never as fast as this if I use cockpit view.

Usually cockpit view, but when racing competitively bumper cam. In previous GT's I liked the chase cam but it's horrible in GT5 because it's so far away from the car. I'd probably use the hood view more often but PD needs to implement a decent one first.

I agree about GT5's chase cam being horrible. I think they're focused a little too much on the environmental aspects with that particular camera as far as being able to see the landscapes in the background. With the chase camera, though I hardly use it, should be close to the car and therefore closer to the road so you can focus more on what's in your 12 o clock and 6 o clock or at least ad 2 or 3 chase cameras. Also I've noticed the it seems like the environment is moving more than the car in chase cam, which is very weird and makes the driving feel unstable. However for me it's Cockpit all the way even for standards with the blacked out interior. It doesn't bother me.

Wow, roof viewers in the minority.

Edit:

I use hood when I am trying to go fast
I use cockpit for realism.

I prefer hood over bumper for speed because in bumper view you can't really tell where the edge of the car is, so I end up hitting barriers or walls a lot on street circuits and such.

This, pretty much.

I use bumper.

Didn't want to learn to drive cockpit, only to have it available for 1/5 of cars (before the update). Lack of a decent view of the mirrors also make it hard.
Would probably drive from roof cam if it had a mirror like bumper cam does.

Been using the behind the car view since GT1. I just like looking at the car I drive. Though, I sometimes use the cockpit view on mostly the premium cars.

I always use in car view, i see it as they spent a lot of time making it so pretty so why not use it??

I love the cockpit view be it standard or premium i don't care. It helps me see the turns better which consequentially allows me to see the apexes of the turns better helping me drive better and it's also cool in premium cars

This is exactly why chase view works so well for me -- I can see more of the track ahead and the whole environment, therefore I can prepare a better approach and make a better line. Also in chase view I can better see exactly what is happening with the car, I get a complete view of the slip angle and the general attitude of the car. Also, the rear-view (or "look back") gives more information and lets me see everything better from the higher chase position. Finally, the environment *should* be moving more than the car since the camera is always fixed to the car regardless of the view preferred... the environment is passing by as the car and camera travel down the track. Then again, everyone's favorite racing view is a personal preference, for our own reasons. The roof cam is my 2nd choice. I like cockpit view for the novelty only, it really blocks too much of the track view (yes I know this is a driving simulation). Bumper cam is just horrible, feels like my chin is dragging on the pavement and chewing on tarmac, but the sense of speed is certainly enhanced here.

Same for me. Although in standards, it is different. You can't see the front hood.
Could you please use proper grammar? It took me a tid bit longer to understand you.

Bumper or roof cam. I only use interior view if I am winning by a wide margin. I never got used to interior view in GT5 and run at least one second slower per lap when using it.

Thank goodness PD put cockpit view on the standards. The only time I do bumper cam is when it is raining. Interior view is really difficult to see out of...sort of like Real Life.

I use on premium cars the cockpit cam and on standards I use bonnet cam which sometimes should be renamed roof cam :D
And I also turn all on screen display off too :)

Sorry about the grammar:guilty:.Thing is I guide myself a little for long words by the browser.

I go against the grain here and I ALWAYS drive with the chase camera. Always have and always will i find with a pad it helps me see what the car is doing.

Premium cars I'll always go for the interior view, I mean if it's there why not use it? Mind that's what some people say about the Red Bull X but that's beside the point!
On standards I'll use the chase cam in preparation for getting my PS2 tomorrow and getting back on GT3/4! :D

Chase cam on 1 thru 3,Roof cam since gt4. I have been trying the cockpit view with the premium cars on tracks i know very well. You have to believe all cars are premium on gt6.

I'm starting to warm up to the interior of the Audi R8 2001, though it could be because I'm 11 hours into my enduro race.:)

Just wish the dials actually light up and work.
