This is just a small thread to find out who likes one of my favorite cars in the game, the RUF yellowbird. im typically an american car kind of guy, but i love the way the yellowbird handles, because its a challenge. when i go to the ring, i often take the yellowbird because i love perfecting my lap time in this car. Explain your opinion. You either hate this car or love it.

I love the car.
I hate the way it handles in GT4.
It is the definition of "drop throttle oversteer".
And it has crazy turbo lag.

I haven't driven it yet in GT4, but was extremely impressed with it in GT2.

...other than the understeer. That was something I wasn't expecting at all at the time, but I didn't know much about rear-engine cars back then. But now I'm thinking: if the understeer in GT2 was bad, it must be unbearable in GT4! Am I right?

Rather it's quite the opposite, with the 'bird trying to instead kill you by putting the heavy end in the nearest wall.

See, that's what I was expecting in GT2...I totally expected the Yellowbird would be oversteering much more, since oversteer is generally represented more in this game. Instead, understeer dominated, especially under brake/steering.

It's definitely a lot of fun to drive, even if the fastest way to get it around a track ("drifting") is completely unrealistic. I can't imagine it being any fun on Citta di Aria, though, even though I love the track.

Cougar, I have no idea which one you're calling ugly; they all look very similar except for the 3400S (the RUF equivalent of a Porsche Boxster), which I have a hard time imagining being considered ugly. Are you think of the '80s BTR, the '90s CTR2, or the '00s RGT?

The 'Bird is definitely one of my top 5 most-driven cars.

It is a very potent machine when used correctly. The only real downsides are what it takes to tame it to get to it's full potential and it's tendency to cook the rear tires first.

Yes the 3400S is the one I'm calling Ugly. I don't know what it is about it but I just don't like it. I love all the others though and have tuned them all to suit my driving style.

Try it on El Capitan Reverse in arcade with the specs that Austin343 has in the Supercar Cup. It's a blast pulling a near full drift on the final corner and floating over the hill before the tunnel and T2.

Awesome video, gotta be one of the most fun cars in GT4,when you put in the time to get a handle on this "wild" thing. At one time I had a good hold on it,but sadley I havent done GT4 in a year or so
In the video you can see what a workout it is to get the most out of the car.
Running with all those bikes in that car WOW scary stuff :nervous:

Wow. I got tired just watching the video. I'm gonna to go out tonight on the RING and see how many times I don't end up in the weeds.

I love the Yellow Bird... one of my all time favourite cars.

I love hitting the Nurb in arcade mode, with road tires all round... fun as heck :D

On the ring, at least it teach's you throttle control.
A plus from me.

Exactly.

On road tires, and the Ring, this is hands down the best car in the game. Tap the brakes into that corner... get it dead sideways... it's just beautiful.

There is nothing - nothing - more satisfying than going round an entire corner steering in the opposite direction! :D:tup:

Amen to those last words, brother!

We should create a RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" club, what do you guys think? :P

Try getting a black one...and call it "Blackbird" :sly:.

I'm more of a fan of the BRT than the Yellowbird.

Maybe I just haven't driven it enough but the BRT seems to feel a little more stable to me.

The BTR may well be more stable, but that isn't the point. What makes the Yellow Bird fun is its controllable oversteer, something that's lacking in most GT4 cars.
