Who would like to see Touge like Battle Track's in GT6

This is going to sound stupid but what is a touge?

Basically, get through a mountain road as fast as you can without crashing. It isn't necessarily about drifting on EVERY turn, but if its necessary to drift, then drift.

I don't want to go too off-topic BUT just for the HV viewers. Uploaded these last year :) Don't mind the mistranslated stuff with the Chinese subs though.

Touge is the Japanese term for "mountain pass" it has nothing to do with the cat and mouse game that is played.

Well I think he wanted to know what the racing is about.

Referring to your statement about drifting being incorporated while running a mountain; it should be noted that inertia itself more often than not is responsible for the sliding.

Drifting on the Touge is usually not used for races but obviously for the crowd like it be at D1, FD, & Drift Muscle. BUT people don't use drifting as a race on the Touge but rather sometimes either practicing OR to recover if they screw up. Hard to explain but you should know what I mean.

I beg to differ. I use drifting to race for touge, and I can beat alot of other drivers by doing so.

So they race up a mountain pass... ?

Just a different type of point-to-point racing I guess? Didn't look like they were permitted to pass :s. Or able to?

I can't watch the video cause my Mac's sound is messed up :(.

They CAN run uphill. But they can run down the mountain pass as well. If you do the run CM style (Cat and Mouse) the leader car has to prevent the pass of the cat and outrun it. The cat has to pass the mouse. Or if you do it SDDM Style (Sudden Death death match style), the leader has to outrun the chaser, and the chaser has to pass and get to the finish first. If the leader gets to the finish first, another run commences, and the drivers swap places, leader becoming chaser, chaser becoming leader. It goes until there is a clear winner.

Sections of track usually last how many miles? Or does it vary like track racing? No strict distance?

Depends on the course really. However long the pass is from top to bottom or from bottom to top. Course length is usually around 5 miles, but some courses are exceptionally longer

Really? It's quite debatable if someone were to do that (and NO, leave "D" out of this).
Your username (no offense) causes my thoughts about it if your statement was true, but I can't judge before I found out. I'm not really a guy who drifts on the Touge during racing but unless LIKE I said on my last post; only if I were to screw up and recover. Plus I had a guy once kept drifting his damn R32 (full tune) against my Amemiya FD (LSD, Downforce and Weight Tune) which screwed up my aerodynamic balance which I assume you do for that reason. If I were to race him again, I just go and tap the heck out of him when he starts doing it again so he can think twice. I don't care cheap or not but seriously.

I bet half of those people even use most of their skill at all or you claim saying that when it's during an open lobby/lounge while they're cruising around/practicing most of time. I assume your someone in LotS?

No sir, I am not actually in LotS. I actually have some people that I hang out with in touge lobbies every once in a while, and sometimes I'll go into random ones. People will challenge me once they see me drifting on the course and then we race. Most people that do touge grip, where as I do the opposite and drift. Amazingly, I can actually get around the course faster than some drivers who grip. I am leaving Initial D out of this, though I won't deny that there's where I got my style from. I love the AE86 yes, but I use a variety of cars on the touge.

As for Higher, you are most welcome.

In addition Fuji, no I don't drift to screw up the other drivers aero balance. I drift because I feel it is my fastest way around the course, although I can grip as well.

No offense ae86fan but grip is a lot faster than drift in GT5. If you were to drift while racing some LOTS guys you would lose by a very big margin.
If you win races by drifting then the guys your racing arent very good.

I second this.

I did say my fastest way. I wasn't trying to say it was the fastest way. Although I do go back and forth between gripping and drifting. Still working out the some tunes for gripping. I personally just find it easier to drift. If I ever faced any of the LotS guys, yes I'm sure I'd lose. I haven't had GT5 for very long, and I still need to work on tuning as well as the LotS guys. Right now, I find drift to be my option.

I can consistently run times of at least 7:30 and under around Nurb by drifting. My fastest time around the track gripping so far is 7:13. This is also running 453 bhp and below.

It lost its title after racing against Amemiya for the Touge Maou/Devil-King Tournament 2005 in Hot Version 76 with Amuse's new built R1 (using '04 Spec AP2 instead of the original AP1). Don't forget the AP2 in Japan still had F20C up to 2006. I have it on my channel (Hot Version Vol.76 Touge segment). BUT Amuse manages to regain back its title after getting having a tough match in the Devil-King Tournament 2006 with Amuse's N.A. S2300 GT-1. Then after that, they haven't planned to be back in the segment and Tanabe-san of Amuse passed away in 2008. R.I.P Tanabe-san.

The course is called Gunsai Touge :)

I had heard about this that the owner of tananbe died bit didn't believe it. Rip. And thanks for the info man

IMO, in some situation I think drift is a little faster in the corners especially on tight corners like city tracks. Because you can point the nose of the car near the apex and get as much tight turn as possible if you need to. But yeah, generally it will slow you down, especially on wider corners like Suzuka circuit..

Well I usually run on tight tracks anyway. Nurb for example. Its got tight and fast sections so I'm able to keep up a lot of speed.

The 7:13 time - what car, what tyres, how much BHP? I'm curious is all.

On topic, I'd love to see some mountain passes to cruise along in Gran Turismo - it would make for some fantastic photography.

EDIT: The reason I'm curious is not to try and call you out - simply to see if I can do the same - I've been looking or stuff to do on GT5 lately.

Right...so when are you going to add me? I would like to see this.
