They tried to beat up Lien's wife.
News story I saw last night did mention that witness(es) have come forward that the bikers also tried going after the wife. Not that shocking anymore after seeing these biker interviews though. When they are not acting like bunch of scum, they are crying on TV playing the victim.

Not only were there cops there, one of them may have been involved in the violence.
While I was reading that, I saw this video:

Mr. Sergio Consuegra's story is pretty intense. He pretty much stepped in, stood against the bikers to stop the attack. He also mentions how these bikers were trying to drag the wife out of the car.

This is a brave dude right here. It's good to know that there are good guys like him around, and also that he succeeded in stopping the violence without getting attacked himself.

If I ever run into something like this, I hope I can display such courage. If you are NY business, this man deserves the VIP treatment for while!

I think the biker is at fault.Since when do these rednecks are allowed to use the road for their freaking stunt. They think the road is what? Their father's ROAD?! 🤬 rednecks.

Undercover dick is under arrest, YES!!! There is video evidence (not on YouTube) of the cop committing actions he shouldn't not have been.

Big kudos to that guy, he's brave as hell.

With that I kind of wish I didn't watch that video. My hatred for these savages has probably grown ten fold. All of these pieces of 🤬 that attacked Lien should be charged with attempted murder. Hitting the guy in the head with their helmets!?

....

An off-duty police officer in the US who claimed he took no part as fellow bikers pulled a young father from his SUV and viciously beat him, has had his alibi quashed by new footage.

The officer, a seven-year veteran, told investigators he didn't help injured New York motorist Alexian Lien, 33, because he only arrived at the scene as the beating came to an end, the New York Post reports.

However, new footage yet to be released places Detective Wojciech Braszczok, 32, front and centre during the height of the bloody road rage attack.

The footage, a source said, shows Braszczok banging on the car's back window moments before Mr Lien was pulled from the vehicle and beaten in front of his terrified wife and two-year-old daughter.

Braszczok turned himself in shortly after the Manhattan district attorney signed off on his arrest.

He was charged with assault a few hours ago.

The development came as another biker allegedly involved in the beating was arraigned in a New York court.

The bikers were pursuing Mr Lien and his family after he drove through the large group that had surrounded his vehicle, knocking one rider, Edwin Mieses, to the ground and driving over him.

Mr Mieses remains in hospital facing the possibility that he will never walk again.

Put a bullet right between his eyes I say.
He will be let off with a slap on the wrist since he is a cop.

It's amazing how one thing ( a brake check in this case ) led to all this. Cause and effect as they would say.

Well we will see how the off duty cops play this on trial. It's amazing a third officer in IA was also there and took three days to report this like the other two.

It would seem what is at issue here is not so much the 2 parties directly involved, but the failure of NYPD to react when they clear opportunity to do so lawfully. Good thing nobody died.

What's new NYPD and not doing their job or slowly doing their job, same song and dance I'd say. I have to agree why would police officers on duty or off join in with a group to beat one guy when you could do your actual day job. Scary I'd say.

Bloody good job. Too many of them think that because they are cops the laws don't seem to apply to them.

Same they dont get punished for falsifying facts or hindering an investigation.

Trooper Claims SUV Attack Victim's Uncle Ordered Clampdown On Bikers
A New York State Trooper admitted on video that Alexian Lien, the Range Rover driver in the infamous SUV vs biker attack, has an uncle who is a boss in the State Troopers and he has "sent the word down" to stop any and all bikers for the smallest offences.

The video shows two bikers getting stopped on the Palisades Parkway going north out of the city, about fifteen minutes from where Alexian Lien was beaten in front of his wife and two-year-old child. The state trooper uses his SUV as a temporary roadblock — stopping across traffic — to pull over two riders for allegedly speeding. The trooper asks the rider if his helmet cam is on and the rider lies, saying it's off.

The trooper ends up letting them go with a warning, and then explains that law enforcement in the New York area is on the lookout for bikers.
Jalopnik

CBS evening news just did a piece on this about how groups like this get together in relation to the SUV incident and the person they interviewed it seems about as ironic as the videos with bikers after the attack I'll try to see if it will be up later.

Yeah, it doesn't work in Russia. Big surprise! I shouldn't, but I chuckled when the driver showed immediate concern for the front fascia of his car.
