Why are they keeping the Stiff Chase Cam?

The chase cam is going to be the same as in GT5, but why? The one in GT5 was very boring, stiff, and the car looks tiny on your screen. The cam stays perfectly behind the car even in the sharpest corner which just ruins the experience a bit. The car should be closer to the car and should look bigger, and the chase cam should FLEX more. Like every racing game actually does that properly, except of the biggest racing title for PS3.

I've seen that there are lots of great racing cars in GT6, some of them are returning ones from older GT Titles and yes they are standard cars. That's why I started using the chase cam, but my god the chase cam is so boring. No sense of speed in it either.

I strongly oppose to your request.

I play almost exclusively with the chase cam, and i like the way PD/GT has it.
I actually was thinking about making the same and opposite thread, criticizing why and what are the reasons for the flex cam on other games... it just seem weird...

I WANT PD/GT to keep the Stiff Chase Cam. They can add another one to satisfy your need OP, but please do not change the stiff chase cam.

Thanks ;)

I'd prefer a camera that can show the wheels in a turn, at least. It's not like the camera is actually attached to the car...

Yep it doesn't have to be deleted but I can't understand why they didn't decide to add it? It used to be there in older GT titles which looked perfect in my eyes but they just removed it and put one in there I don't like to use. Not so nice when you're driving a standard car and you don't like the stiff chase cam.

For the same reason they keep the same narrow FOV along with many other weird decisions. Somebody needs to have a long talk with them about options and their effects on keeping different groups of people happy.

I agree the chase cam is horrible, it doesnt showcase the pretty premium cars in any way because as OP said its way too far away and stiff. the other thing is you cant even rorate the camera around the car... which is basic nowdadays. and then the extremely narrow FOV which kills the sense of speed. GT's chasecam is useless this way to me.. Why PD gives us no more options????

The problem is, when they tried to change the chase cam once to fix it at one point on the car itself, it ended up quite literally jerking about, which felt really rather unerring. I didn't even try to use the chase camera in that state, and the fix back to the original was for much the better.

The updated chase cam PD implemented for GT5 stayed in roughly the same spot as it did before, but added the nauseous moving effect that got such a backlash that they reverted to the original chase cam in the very next update.

Since I use chase cam almost exclusively in all GT titles, I've always found that the one in GT5 - though not as bad as the God-awful fixed chase cam used in GT4 Prologue - took a fair amount of enjoyment away from the overall experience. And since opinions are divided on it, I think the best case scenario would be if they kept the current chase view and include a looser cam option similar to the one used in GT3 through an update.

And widen the Fov to get actually a sense of speed.

I don't care what any one says that chase cams the best. chase cams that wobble and move really make it hard to make precise movements.

Then you have a weak brain because out brain "filters" out those movements to enable us to "ignore" that.

I'd persoanlly for one like to see a chase cam with more action. Slight wobble, and where we can see the wheels' distance from the curbs.

A weak brain.. okay sure let me make the bumper cam wobble right while your turning left and let me do that in cockpit view too. You must have a weak brain if your looking at the car instead of looking at the road.

The annoying part is that It's probably too late to be addressed now, not much can be done anymore. Im not going to lie, I already have GT6. The changes are incredibly small, they added a few details that's all. The car list is fantastic, graphics renders differently but looks pretty much the same.

I mean, you're making a next version of a game well try to make it look different. More 2013. There aren't much changes and i don't think It's worthy of a title to get excited for. (The handling is less forgiving sometimes, karting is a bit more difficult)

But come on, atleast change the chase cam for god sake. Such a waste.

I never use the chase cam, haven't used it on any game since NFS UG2

I do wish they would give us a proper hood/bonnet cam or at least alter the cockpit cam so that you do not see so much roof and have a bigger view of the road ahead while using it.

I find all the views a bit lacking in GT but normally end up using the bumper view. I much prefer the hood view cam in Forza over any in GT. From videos I have saw here I also like the cockpit cam in project cars a lot better than the one in GT

I like the chase cam as it is now.

Good enough distance, and the apex is easier to hit. Compared to GT3 the camera allowing the car to move side to side made it harder to get the apexes right.

Chase cams are perfect when you are playing with a DS3.
I started playing GT4 with a DS pad and using chase cam. I got to a point where I could not complete one of the special events in the time required. After many failed attempts using chase view I switched to roof cam and was successful on the first try. I used roof cam on every race in GT4 after that and found that my lap times were better on every track. No turning back after that.

PD Just make it closer wide the fov and make it lose, also make it rotateable to give us a 360° view. Then add it as 2nd chasecam. Where would be the problem???? seriously......

Some people know you can make the cam closer to the car...right?

And I totally agree about getting rid of the stiffy.

I remember doing most of the GT4 missions with the chase cam, they were really fun. I guess it depends, but I personally like to play with that cam because you can see the car you're driving. When I drive in rFactor with a wheel, I prefer to use the hood cam.

Yes I findy rally racing a million times easier on roof cam or cockpit view Its kind of hard judging a few inches in chase cam.
