Why does no one like Justin Bieber

Well, I really don't hate him. It's just the fact that instead of actually singing, he goes for the mainstream auto-tuning and stuff. And the fact he doesn't know what Germany is.

I believe most of the people who don't like him, hate him. Why? Maybe because they are jealous of him. I don't see other possible explanation.

Personally, I just don't like his music.

He plagiarized Ellen Page's look before she was Juno.

But he is just another cookie-cutter, label-created star. A symptom of the sickness that is killing the music industry. When I turn on the new rock station and hear Nirvana, who's lead singer died when I was in high school, it makes me wonder if even the radio station recognizes that the good rock music in the mainstream has died down.

Oh well, so long as we have Dave Grohl (and to a degree Jack Black) we have hope.

And I am not saying that music itself has gotten bad, but what the labels push is horrible, because they push the things that gets teenagers to blindly buy a whole album of crap for two or three decent songs. The Internet is where I find most of the stuff I like. I listen to music podcasts on occasion to find new songs that I like.

^ I agree wholeheartedly for that. But I can't hate on the guy for taking advantage of that. The bottom line is, he's driving a Land Rover, I'm driving a Corolla. I'll have to work for 40+ years, he won't have to work a day in his life.

Thought of another reason not to like him: A million teenage girls will grow up thinking "Somebody To Love" was a Justin Bieber song and believing that Queen's version is somehow a cover.

That's definitely one reason not to like him. That also happened a few years back with Anne Hathaway and some princess movie. I guess for me it's like what I think about Taylor Swift too. I don't like their music at all, but the artists themselves don't bother me, but the fanfare around them does. Although Swift >>>Bieber. But then again, that's not much of a compliment.

I just find it hilarious that he sounds like a female whenever his songs are playing in the radio.
Many people are jealous because so many girls love him even though many compare him to a girl.
But yeh his fanbase literally idolise him and worship him like he is God.

Anyone seen the YouTube video of him walking into a glass door? :L

He's the poster child of a music industry that spits in the face of legitimate artists who are expressing themselves in a meaningful way in favor of whatever sex symbol can be paraded out on stage to the tune of a song scientifically created to fulfill people's idiotic fantasies about sex with little boys in order to make money.

It's not really his fault, he's just a puppet who's been brainwashed into thinking he's a legitimate artist.

For the money he's making I would walk on stage in 80's hair metal clothing and make up singing "Barbie Girl".

I don't think there was much brainwashing involved.

As for your other point, I would say he is as much of a legitimate artist as any other "legitimate" artist, he does play most instruments, sure his songs are mostly written by other people, but so was Aretha Franklin's "RESPECT" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller", does that make them not legitimate? Whether or not they are good is a different issue and nothing to do with legitimacy.

I don't hate him, but I don't like him either.
I reckon the reason why most people on GTP don't like him is because we are all over thirteen years old.
(If you're not thirteen yet.... then... hold on, forget the AUP. What the bloody hell are you doing up at this time of night? :odd:)

You wouldn't sound the same.
Pay me 50 quid and I'll kick you in the nuts. Problem solved. :D

He doesn't really sound like a girl, he sounds like a teenager. This has already been discussed. And pretty much every fan base in the world idolize their favorite bands. This is not a new concept.

He is 17 not 13. Also, just because your posting at that time of night doesn't mean that's when someone is reading it. 4:31 PM PST right now.

I didn't say he was 13. That is the age restriction to use these forums.
I was simply implying that most of his fans are around that age, and I know of worldwide time differences.
I also have some understanding of humor and sarcasm.

Ah.. Went over my head. I wouldn't really say most of his fans are around that age. There are plenty of females in there 20's that seem to love him.

No worries.

I have three daughters, between 11 and 15. The younger two love him. The eldest thinks he's a prat.

I could go on all day.

All I'm gonna say is she's an overrated, piece of crap girl with no talent!

People at the age of 13 don't like him!
I know because I'm 14!

👍👍👍

I'm 13, and listen solely to classic rock 👍

Don't blame the industry, blame the people who pay big $$$ for albums, concert tickets, and song licensing. There's a lot of people who pay good money to see/hear terrible music. The music & industry execs. just follow the money.

This is also why so many "performance artists" are merely products themselves to be packaged and sold. This has gone back to the 80's with Madonna...and maybe even further, but Madonna is the most relevant and egregious.

Do you really think someone like John Lee Hooker would ever make it past Simon Cowell today? Hell no... But while musicians like Muddy Waters, John Coltrane, etc. live on and grow their fanbase past death, these new 'products' will come and go as quickly as the products they're being downloaded with. Very little staying power IMO...and their productions sound absolutely terrible with all the compression & strange effects they use to make whoever's screeching into the mic sound somewhat less offensive in a Speak-n-Spell kinda way.

As to why people 'hate' Justin Bieber? It's probably b/c of over exposure and his beta-male look. When you're beat over the head with marketing, you start to rebel against it consciously or unconsciously. If everyone on your block had BMWs...would you buy one?

People like to have what no one else has.
