why doesnt polyphony get a license for nissan

Antonioserna12
since polyphony has a good relationship with Nissan why don't they get a license like turn10 an ea?

I'd rather they didn't because it would cheat me as an adult gamer with the maturity to own games from multiple franchises rather than just GT. If PD had a maker like Nissan exclusive to them right now, that means they wouldn't be in Forza, and I don't benefit from that.

Owning more games makes you more mature? Weird. Kinda makes sense though, I only have one game.

Um... what he said was pretty straightforward. Don't really see what the issue is.

I don't even really get how anyone would benefit from that. Maybe Nissan, because they get piles of money?

They don't need it when they already have a partnership which allows us to have unique Nissan things that others don't. Doesn't matter since all others care about is the GT-R and R32-R34 anyways.

I think all exclusivity rules are wrong, so two (plus) wrongs don't make a right.

Just because EA has Porsche, doesn't mean other companies should do it (software or car).

Besides, its not like EA and PD could then swap their agreements, it'd be a tangle involving four seperate entities, better off just waiting for EAs Porsche agreement to go away, and live in history as but a horrible memory.

EDIT: Where's the poll?

Possibly because Nissan is aware that having your cars in basically every car game that comes out is better than having them in one game that comes out every 3 to 5 years.

No thank you. If I was Nissan I would like to own the rights to my own cars.

Just look at Porsche, they're only featured in silly cops and robbers games nowadays. If EA keeps abusing their exclusive rights in the same manner that's gonna have an impact on the brand in the long run.

I think you overestimate the effect being in a few games will have on the Porsche brand. I suspect any negative effects will be balanced out by them being one of the dominant marques in motorsport for decades.

Nissan, on the other hand, while they partake in motorsport as well, also have to contend with own goals like this little charmer.

No, what we need is less exclusive licences of stuff in videogames. I don't see how "an eye for an eye" improves the situation for anyone.

It's not about owning more games. It's about not being so much of a fanboy of one particular racing series that you would wish bad things upon other racing games, such as not being able to include Nissan thanks to an exclusivity license.

Porsche is the most profitable car company in the world relative to it's sales volume. I don't think they are worried about videogame exclusivity having a negative effect on that.

Nissan and GT already have a great relationship it seems and Nissan isn't really one of the top end marques that PD might gain some huge marketing advantage from having as an exclusive. Doesn't make financial sense to PD to pay for an exclusive license.

Nissan would need to get more money from PD than they currently get from PD + Turn 10 + EA + pCars + AsettoCorsa + ISI + iRacing + Real Racing + rFactor + any other games for that to make any financial sense.

All that, plus whatever value they consider for having their brand name advertised through multiple games like that.

Without questioning the legitimacy of that first statement, I think that they should be worried about devaluation of the brand. If you sell your brand exclusively to someone who is producing crap, you're gonna end up with crap that has your brand on it. That's gonna have an impact. Perhaps it wont erase decades of motorsports legacy, but it's surely gonna make a dent.

No forza no Midnight club, No NFS, Basically any game that has nissan would be out. So if you want decent racing games they shouldn't.

But, why?

I mean, for starters, Nissan is cool, but isn't something like Porsche. And even if it were, building up such a culture in the gaming industry will ruin everything in the future. Everything. Next thing you'll see is other manufacturers closing deals with other gaming studios.

In GT8 you'll get, say, Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, VW and Chevrolet. In Forza 6, Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Audi and Jaguar. Shift, BMW, Mercedes, Ford and Lamborghini.

So, are you happpy now?

PD shows class for not trying to get exclusivity rights from any company, and for porsche ... they can shove their 3D models up their taschen.

You guys don't think like businesses men that's why. I'm not seeing a Nissan nab, I'm seeing black mail to get Porsche in GT 👍

I'm thinking as someone who doesn't want the racing genre to devolve into tons of exclusivity deals. To say nothing of how much more important Porsche is to EA than Nissan.

Scratch that, I'm thinking period. Try it.

Im all for it, hit them were it hurts. Nissan's are in almost all racing games ;p ,maybe strike a bargain with EA

sorry, but if Nissan were only in GT it would only hurt Nissan. I can't in any way equate having a Nissan exclusive agreement to having a Porsche exclusive agreement. Pull Nissan from other games and its not going to sink the other games.

And anyone thinking that Porsche is going to be devalued by video games needs to get a grip on reality. Porsche owners i know have never heard of GT, Forza or any other game. They are to busy actually driving and racing Porches.

The only people who get screwed by exclusivity deals are gamers. Unfortunately, exclusivity is how EA rolls - with things like Madden, FIFA, NHL, etc. It just doesn't translate terribly well to the automotive world, since there's way too many licenses to track down. Though I am surprised that Codemasters managed to eek out EA for the FOM/FIA licensing for F1.

You must know so lame owners. I know CGT owners who play forza day in and day out most Sports/Exotic car owners at some point in life have played a racing game. You need to find a better car scene ASAP.
