Why go back to GT3?

I was a GT3-addict for sure, but after I got GT4, It's like I don't even think about GT3 anymore. I remember that the physics of GT4 seemed somewhat unfamiliar in regards to GT3, but I soon adapted.

Somwhere in the back of my mind I sort of miss GT3 though. Anyone else had it the same way? Why should I return to my once beloved GT3?

Once i was addicted to GT1..I completed it and then bought GT3 A-Spec.
Got annoyed with Formula GT and went back.
:( BAD MOVE :(
All my memories were shattered when i saw the graphics.......god they're c**p!
98.8% on GT3, 3 cars to win and i wont play it again until i've finished GT4.

I miss it too.....unfortunately, I traded my GT3 in when I got GT4 figuring that I would not need it anymore ....I did the same when I got GT3 trading in GT2.

Now I wish I had kept them all eventhough the graphics on 1 and 2 look horrible now......

I don't really miss GT3. I found the lack of selection of cars disappointing. I even went as far as going and buying a new copy of GT2 just so I could have more selection. I completed a majority of both games with only one car. GT2 I used a [R]Skyline GTR V-spec. And I completed most of GT3 with a Dodge Viper GTS.

I always play GT3 when i wanna toss in a hot lap or to. I love taking my modded Z06 around Apricot Hill and Complex String. I also enjoy drifting my Supra around Complex String. Its hard switching from GT4 to GT3, the cars just feel so loose in GT3.

Actually, I just started a new game yesterday! I wanted to start a new GT4 on my other card, but I just finished golding all the licenses and didn't want to do them over. So I golded the B License in GT3, I have won about ten series in Beginner League, got my Pink Vitz 👍, and I finished the first two areas in arcade. In fact, I was just doing the Lightweight Cup at Trial Mountain, and I realized that, to me, at least, the trees looked better in GT3.

I've tinkered with GT3 a little bit ever since I got GT4. At least the TVR Speed 12 is drivable with a DS2*– it's utterly hopeless in GT4.

I'm sure in the next couple of months, we'll see some revival of interest in GT3. But nothing spectacular. The interest in GT1 died off as soon as GT2 came out. After all, you didn't need a new console, you just needed a new copy of the latest game.

When GT3 came out, there was a somewhat slower migration; but by December of '01, most of the GT faithful had a new console to play the latest game.

GT4 is doing to GT3 what GT2 did to GT. Got that?

still remember the christmas i got gt3 sat up all night playing, after gt4 i went back and had a shot of gt3, the handling is so much different, the graphics are alot worse, but i still love it! id start it over anyday!

I just miss driving on the tracks GT4 doesn't have. SSR11 and Rome Circuit mostly. I miss the good times I had too. :(

why did PD bring back SSR11 for GT3 then Get rid of it? That was my fave track!!! :grumpy: it was in gt1 - not in gt2 - then in gt3 - not in gt4 - gt5???

You noteced that too, huh? Think we're whining enough to get it back in GT5?
My main reason to go back is that it works; GT4 has constant delays from read errors now, much worse then when I first got it. Hybriding is a very good reason to teporarily regress, but I don't have a sharkport, so it doesn't apply to me. I do miss the complex string though.

I miss the way everything was easier and less complex........sometimes less choice can be good........and I liked the order that cars were stored in the garage.......not GT4 stupidly complex and non saving order system....

And I miss SS11.....and the old high speed ring......

Well im playing it right now... I have had a bet with a few mates thats i will be able to get 100% in ALL GT games, before GT5 comes out..

so far i've done 100% in GT4, and now i'm on GT3 and have 22% or so. Its not actually that bad but i'm missing the Nurb :(

I still need to do GT2 and GT after and the graphics are :yuck:

Wish me luck!

Why go back to GT3? For me, it's racing some of the old courses that didn't make it into GT4. Actually, I think I'd also get a sense as to how easy it was for other people to take their F1 race car and blow out the pack at Apricot Hill for a Mid-Engine Cup race. Some of the tracks missing from GT4 but in GT3 included Tahiti Circuit, Rome Circuit, Special Stage Route 11 (GT3 Variant), and one of my favorite rally courses except for the paved sections- Smokey Mountain. Also missing was Complex String, but I didn't care much about Complex String. Many of these tracks weren't in GT4, and I included as many as possible so that people don't rip on me for missing a track. That's one reason to go back to GT3.

Another reason would be to find out just what racing was like in GT3 before the almost complete overhaul in GT4. In the future, I'll post some comparison times to further my argument, but the racing in GT3 didn't really seem as exciting as in GT4. The sense of speed in GT3 was kind of lacking, but nothing beats being able to do 237 mph in a Nissan R92CP. The handling seemed easier in GT3, also you're not really penalized for overhauling your car with heavy horsepower, whereas in GT4, you kind of pay the price.

So all in all, go back to GT3 to remember how far GT4 has come. Oh yeah, being able to qualify for races (including, but not limited to championship rounds) is also a reason to go back. Many reasons, your call. I hope you're digging this.

Good luck!

You quickly get used to the low quality graphics in GT2. GT1 graphics are considered to be slightly better than GT2.
Both are fun games that should not take to long to complete.
I am currently redoing GT2 as my PS2 died.
The GT4 experience does improve your driving when you go back to GT2.
I was able to quickly gold the special license tests in GT2 compared to when I originally did them.

I wont go back to GT3 because my game disc is badly scratched from 3.5 years of playing. (My son was not careful when taking it out of the tray when changing).

Allready have 100% for all four games.
Going back to playing the old games makes you aware of how far GT4 has improved the experience.

I will keep plugging away :sly:

I miss GT2's turbo spooling sound and BOV. I love GT3's physics. I dont' like GT4 very much, the impossible doughnut physics thing was probably the thing that made it hard to drift in GT4? Who knows....

BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT I LIKE DRIVING MY '99 IMPREZA L SPORT WAGON MORE THAN THE GAMES EVER! TALK ABOUT HAVING TIME BEHIND THE WHEEL AT AUTOCROSSES AND ROAD RACE EVENTS! Real life heel-toe doubleclutch downshift with SOUND. ...talking about my real car here...

I was going to back to finish GT3 until I got a Driving Force wheel and discovered the 'brake' issue - and I cut my left thumb while cooking and can't use a DS2 for a bit, but I love GT3 cuz...

The menu system was a whole lot easier, I *hate* searching through each manufacturer in GT4 to see who has the '1 make races' - it worked so much better in GT3 just sticking them in there with the other races.

Also (as was said before) the Garage worked like a champ. With all the upgrades PD did, I can't believe they didn't give us the option to save our garage sort settings, or put in a 'race car only' filter (or whatever, Rally Car vs. Production Car vs. Race Car vs. Compact vs. Modified/Unmodified).

GT3 also has the *exact* list of cars you're allowed to race with in any of the 'limited' races - what's w/the (etc.) in GT4?

Don't get me wrong, I love the graphics in GT4, and I love the new tracks and the expanded car list (except for the *extrodinarily* heavy Japanese list of everything, i.e.: used cars [How many Skylines does one person really need?], 4!!!! of EACH of Sazuka/Fuji/Tsukba/Gag me with a pair of chopsticks/Tracks [ But they ditched Rome/Smokey/etc. WTF???] )

But for sheer 'sit down and playbility', GT3 kicks GT4's butt all *over* the place.

Nuff said.

I still have to finish gt3, since i never finished the time trial races. Still got several more F1 cars to win and to buy the rest of the cars. When i finish gt4, maybe i'll pick up gt3 again to finish those.
