Why GT never had skidmarks?

Now what would be cool is if skidmarks were washed away by dynamic rain during an endurance race.

But then again.............its only skidmarks.

Why no skid marks?
Why no reverse lights?
Why no fly splats on the screen?
Why no accurate fuel gauge?
Why no bids flying around?
Why no punctures?
Why no dog turds on the side of the track?

Honestly...if you want realism, go drive a real car.

What are you talking about! even racing games on PS1 had skidmarks!!

At the end of the day its the real driving simulator so should include skid marks. Its about time PD finally included it in the GT game. But I would like faint skid marks that last the duration of 10 laps or something.

The track surfaces to me don't look very realistic in GT5, some areas have this weired shine to them, and the textures could be improved, and yeah, there isn't much evidence of rubber layed down on them either.
Can you post a more realistic example of track surface?

I agree, I think they're holding out until atleast TGS for the refined details.

If they mention skidmarks at TGS it means they're desperate.

Seriously, who honestly would class skidmarks as a feature that needs announced? Nevermind a 'surprise'.

Having skid marks isn't exactly a feature that you praise or tout ..... it's just that's it's something that's quite noticeable if absent.

It's not like they are going to announce skidmarks at TGS. The reaction would be like "Wow, so now you've got a feature that's been in racing games since forever. What took you so long?"

It just seems like such a SIMPLE feature to have and implement that it's downright mysterious that it's missing.

Please put it in the game for the simple reason that there's no reason not to.

i've already said it before... i would love to see skid marks.. would like to see the tarmac being marked all the way with the cars burning rubber... braking.. acceleration points.. tight corners.. etc.. on the circuits, they made already have a bit of that but its like a paint job 👎 so PD bring skid marks please

I think skid marks would rewin it, If you notice in some games, Every single turn you do has skid marks. In real life you don't get skid marks in every turn.

Hmmm...never even noticed this until you brought it up! It would be a nice addition, but I would like for them to balance this. Once thing that I hate the most is when my car CONSTANTLY lays skid marks and smokes. I really hate that because that doesn't really always happen in a real race. so, if they implement, I hope they do it realistically and minimally.

Couldnt agree more. 👍
Found it so annoying in Race Driver for example, looked so silly in the NASCAR races with the black stripes on the road everytime you turn.

I dont miss them that much tbh, the textured skid marks on some of the tracks are enough, on Eiger it sometimes seems like youre drawing them on the road.

There are tons of tracks that look like those pics.

I am pretty sure tracks get repaved at certain times, and they look like those pics for at least 1 or 2 seasons.

I think those pictures are proving your point wrong. I cant tell a difference when just scolling down the page.

Heh I was being sarcastical. :)

LOL, I didnt look at who posted the comment about how unrealistic the track surface looks.

So, you did disprove dancarddesigners point. I just looked at some Daytona track surface pics and they are spot on as well.

edit-
Also, do you guys look behind you at the ground? How would you even notice skid marks? I am sure that nobody looks in reverse and stares at the track. And before you say "Ill pass those marks next lap," how will you distinguish between your marks and the ones already there? Watching Replays are the most valid point for skids, IMO.

Suzuka and Fuji are always gonna look nice because they are F1 circuits and the FIA makes them maintain the tracks at a very high level.

I have to agree that Gran Turismo tracks look very clean, even sterile i think ive heard them called before. I would like to see more roughness come into the tracks, showing cracking and imperfections in the bitumen and grass and dirt overlapping the bitumen.

Stuff like this really adds to the feel of a game and makes it seem much more real and less perfect.

I am happy with the skidmarks on the track like in the Prologue. I know skidmarks would be great, but it's better not to include them when they disappear after a few seconds.

Seriously, those are great pictures. I think those track surfaces looks great. I see skid marks... they may not be from that race, but it looks realistic enough.

Yeah yeah, That's pretty much what I meant, I couldn't stop looking at them.

Why would they have to disappear? There are many racing games where the skidmarks will stay there for the entire race.

You'll be forgiven if you are from the US...

On your profile you wrote this defending yourself for apparently the same sort of comment you made above - "Unlike a lot of people (kids/babies) I do not go around forums hunting for people to flame and abuse"

Seems to me you just went around THIS forum and hunted over 300million people to flame and abuse.
