Why I will most likely stick with Forza 3 over GT5

The lack of Porsche is the result of licencing arrangements the marque has with other game developers. Back when GT2 was in development, I remember EA Games had the licence and made NEED FOR SPEED: PORSCHE UNLEASHED.

Why exactly can PD not get the license to have Porsche's in GT5? They had them in GT2 to 4, but why not now?

All cars unlocked from the start=👎
The reason I like GT so much is because of all the PRIZE CARS.

You do realize that's done for the people who mostly populate the online portion of the game, right? Might I add those unlocked cars can only be driven in their stock trim so there's still plenty of encouragement to either unlock or buy them.

GT has never officially held a Porsche license, I believe you're confusing them with Ruf. As far as why....go ask EA considering they've had the license since the beginning of time.

Look, I don't give a rats patootie about having all the cars at start or not as long as they're in the game. I'm just so glad that they have the Murcielago and Gallardo.

But RUF's are Porsches.

The German government would disagree with you since they classify them as their own auto manufacture. RUF's are built from unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis, then RUF installs many of their own parts into them. Porsche's and RUF's may look similar but that's about it...sorta like how the Tesla looks like an Elise.

It does?

If RUF's are Porsches, what are you complaining about? GT5 will almost certainly have RUF, but not Porsche... same as GT2-4.

Nothing's changed (unless something changes :P).

Yes, I know...that makes it an interesting game I guess but GT is still better since you can't buy most of the prize cars.

Hm, you like a challenge to get a car do you.
How about unicorn cars that come up in the auction house. That really you can't afford.
That challenging enough?

What would be the point of locking the cars?, theres always the auction house were you buy them without unlocking them.
In my opinion is much better having them unlocked but i would agree that Forza needs more rewards because when you got the level 50 theres still lots to do in the event list and the solid gold achievement is not reward enough.

Am I the only person who thinks that this thread is totally dumb?
GT5 isn't out, no one knows what small features/gameplay mechanics it will have, nor how many Ferraris or Lamborghinis and neither if it will have a livery editor or not.

Which means about 95% of the threads in the GT5 forum could be deleted as well.

AGREED. Also to OP, here's some directions:

Go to the PSN store
Download Blur demo
Play till bored.
Then, go download Timeshift demo.
Basically play as many demos as possible.

Yes, a lot of them should be closed too, they're almost too many for the mods here. Don't know what this has to do with what I wrote.

Then you can't play GT5, what's your point? You could always buy one if you want to (if you have the money of course). Guys, don't get me wrong, no one has to buy a PS3 and GT5, I just find this thread useless, especially with the reasons the OP listed. You could always say "I won't buy GT5 because I don't want to buy a PS3 just for the game and I don't care for the other games", but we don't know how the features will be. Livery editor, number of Lambos, all cars unlocked, even if they won't include that stuff GT5 could still have incredible features we just never saw so far.

If you go back and read the OP, he's not insinuating that GT5 will or will not have X feature in it. He said he would stick with Forza if GT5 didn't have X, Y & Z features in it, meaning that when the full feature list is shown, if it doesn't have what he wants he's not going to buy them game. Seems like a fair enough statement to me.

Honestly if GT5 doesn't have the features I find interesting I probably won't buy it either, or I'll at least wait till I can pick it up used at GameStop. We are all consumers and we all vote with our wallets.

I have to be honest, with all of the recent racing games I've been playing or have tried to some extent has outright spoiled me in the audio department and because of this everytime I picture a racing car, or any car for that matter being in GT5 I instantly default to how it's going to sound and I usually end up with the assumption that it's just going to sound downright dreadful. At this particular point in the series it's ridiculously asinine that the audio is as horrible as it is, as it's always been.

Lately, that has me on the brink on whether or not I even want to keep the LCE pre-ordered or not. Yes, I am being serious, the audio that each car has could very well spoil the entire game for me. That's a high possibility why I'd stick with Forza anything over GT5. I suppose I'll have to wait until November to be certain, however, as I've said in that part of the forum...I hold absolutely no reserve for audio improvement.

None whatsoever.

and sometimes with competition!( probably why I bought Blazblue :CS yesterday)

I really don't think it matters if someone doesn't want to play any other game. To say they will stick with Forza puts its over every other game in existence including games not even out or announced. I love racing games, I just play them all. G27 and XBL Gold is the reason 360 isn't my primary system. But I have both consoles and both games and then some.

I think people should wait till its out before passing a verdict. Its PD's first full racing game this console generation. TBH Sony should find a new Racing franchise closer to Americans and Europeans that doesn't take 4+ years to release. I'm sure Fm2/3 has made 10x more profits over GT5P....

Let me get a quick list of some of the threads on the first page...

  1. Which Standard car are you looking most forward to using in GT5? No wishlists!
  2. Grid starts vs Roll starts
  3. Is Special Stage Route 11 in GT5?
  4. GT5 increased showing of Airplanes.
  5. What will you do first in Gran Turismo 5?
  6. Which car are you most dissapointed will only be a Standard in GT5?
  7. Prize Cars in GT5

You say this thread is dumb because we don't know what GT5 will have. You said that. And you don't understand why my post relates to that. I'll break it down using the number of each of those threads I pulled off the first page of the GT5 forum.

  1. This thread "is dumb" because we don't know what every standard car is.
  2. The game isn't out. We simply don't know. That's like me asking if there will be a Ford Focus VS Honda Civic event in FM4.
  3. GT5 Master Track List (NOT a wishlist)
  4. Does this thread mean anything?
  5. What can we do in GT5? I can't decide what I want to do until we know the feature list (your exact point). Maybe pick my racing suit and helmet. Maybe buy a car and start the career. Maybe ride a pony around the infield of Daytona.
  6. See the top of this list.
  7. Same idea for #1, but different.

Any questions?

Yes.
1. Why can't we assume most of the cars brought from GT4 and earlier will be standard?
2.Why can't we discuss which type of start we hope PD uses in certain events?
3.Why can't we look through the pictures PD have given us to decide whether they may have included SSR11?
4. Why can't we wonder if the increased inclusion of aircraft could be hinting at something bigger?
5. Why can't we assume there are some things we can definitely do, like take photos or race a certain track?
6. Why can't we hope certain cars will be premium despite the odds against it?
7. Why can't we wonder what kinds of prize cars PD will give us, in the hopes that they won't stuff our garage with Nike cars?

Speculation is not necessarily a bad thing. It could shed some light on what the final game may be like, even though we don't know.

Some of these threads probably are pointless, because the game is mostly complete and the threads are not going to change it. #7 might be an example of this. But of all the threads before where we complained about the prize cars, is it wrong to have a thread speculating about whether they changed it?

I never said any of that was pointless. I was showing that by GT-Ace's logic, (saying this thread is dumb) then so are all of those threads.

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure what angle you were going for, but at least I think I proved your point a little more. :)

Thank you Joey! My long answer-less question has finally been answered.
