Why is it yellow?

What's up fellas and ladies?! Quick ? about the flashing red dot on the track map that represents yourself. I notice in a few different races that it starts blinking yellow, then slowly fades back to red. Does anyone have an explanation for this or what the hell it represents? It's has happened with different car and on different track.
