Why is the cebera speed 12 popular in seasonal events

Seasonal drift events are a joke

Word!
When i was not able to be between the best 50 in a certain event, i looked at the 1st place replay... then i just leave it away. Ill not "cheat" the system putting 90% of my car´s nose on the grass to get more scoring...

The reason is simple. If any of you ever did the drift trials in prologue you would know that the Art Morrison 60' vette was the top points leader over all other cars in the game. PD made certain cars able to get higher points than other cars, that's all there is too it. It's interesting that they choose standard cars for this and not premium cars.

Maybe because the PD don´t want that we consider the standard cars as sub-category?

BTW i never saw this Speed 12 on my USD... when i was taking seriously the online competitions, i was using the AM Vantage V8. Heavy as heavy metal, obscene HP (almost 1k) and able to sustain unreal angles.

This badass, i mean:

Because random rooms are for the most part a joke, full of people in all sorts of cars doing all sorts of things that have nothing to do with drifting. If you ever stepped into an SFX room you would have seen me but I guess rooms from established drift teams aren't your thing.

I'm an aussie and lag causes issues which make me less interested in making lobbies or joining peoples' rooms where connection is a problem. (which for the most part is any room not hosted by an Australian...)
ive been in sfx room several times and havent seen you.(i assume your psn name is kazama.)
unfortunatly Drift team lobbys isnt that hardcore as you make it sound like.

kiwiland should float closer to europe!

PS.If you havent noticed im in D-Max drift team.

@Gonales: speed as in as-little-speed as possible?;)

do performance points of the car factor in the scoring of sector mode?I went from a Spirit RX-7 to a TVR 350 to a Dodge Viper SRT and got higher scores with each respective car.

The RX-7 had max tuning but with a stage 2 turbo but the 350 and Viper were bone stock

Yes they do. Some other cars that I have found to put up high scores are:

Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO '64
Jaguar E-Type Coupe '61
Chevy Corvette Convertible (C1) '54
Nissan Sil-Eighty '96

the team im in is full of very good drifters an im sure they all will agree the best racing line is not the best drifting line. While drifting you have to think ahead as in how do i want to exit this turn so I can drift this one smoothly, which changes your line often.

Sorry to bring this topic up, and mostly sorry for the OT, but I really had to throw in my personal opinion. What he said is absolutely true. The "racing line" is not the best drifting line always. No one can argue that every single time the racing line would serve the purpose of drifting best. Tsukuba is a good example. I can easily link every single corner of the track, excluding the back straight of course. But for example linking corners 1&2&3 would be simply impossible if the racing line was used. You just have to let the car slide to the right side of the track to maintain the drift. Other wise you're just doing a burnout going straight.

And to the topic. I spent a few days doing the drift trials a while back until I realized how flawed the scoring system was. I tried nearly every drifter I had, until I lowered myself to trying the Buick Special. Straight away my scores improved by 2-3k, within the first 3 tries. Tuned it a bit and got even higher. The scoring system compliments this type of cars, ones that are able to spend an insane amount of time going through a corner. The sillier the setup, the higher the score. Low grip = low speed an so on.

Drift scores are pointless in gt5, it may be good to flatter someone's ego but it doesn't prove anything.
I never saw top leaderboard "driftkings" on a room because they'd probably feel lost.
I mean some of them are even using auto mission...

In my humble opinion drift points have been included for the average players so that they won't feel too much disoriented from need for speed...

The only thing it has is "how fast can you spin your wheels on the racing line", no matter you're just doing a 20mph "drift" in 6th on a 800hp car.

I hope they update it to something better than that. I really dont like supercar drifting against tuners or muscles :/. Just isnt fair imo cause supercars make there wheels spin fast.

hi where are the official leaderboards for drifting? I've looked everywhere and gave up. Also Im interested in seeing u guys drift and seeing if I'm up to play (battle NVM points). Im not trying to instigate anything, if your up for a challenge then add me. thanks and good day peepz.

BACK ON TOPIC....

The Speed 12 and Buick have insane amounts of power and torque while being stable. From what I understand, GT5 calculates drifting points by factoring in speed, angle, what gear you're in, and possibly racing line as mentioned previously in this thread. So what the Buick and Speed 12 are good at doing is spinning the wheels in 6th gear, and I'm also thinking that there's something about their suspension geometry that allows for increased steering lock, hence good angle. The tyres typically run on these cars are staggered; I think it's grippy ones on the front and low grip tyres on the back, but I might be mistaken, they could be the other way around.

It is human nature to achieve their goals in the easiest way possible. The speed12 does this for points drifters.
