xbox sucks
gran turismo is was for racing fans to give feel of actual driving who cannot afford to buy 800 cars and go to different part of the world to test the tracks. but nascar is different with just left turns in oval circuit. that is not gran turismo style. are they bringing nascar to help ebbing away us sales in gran turismo because the recent gran turismo sells much lower quantity than earlier gran turismo? what are your thought?

It is to expose the rest of the world to U.S. racing.

Also, it is not just going in circles.

Yep, this is the most likely reason for nascars inclusion. US sale have been slumping. I wont be nascar racing in GT5 but it doesn't hurt the game to include it. If it brings more fans to the game.....great.....i'm sure they wont be nascar racing only, and the more players online the better.

To sell more copies yes. But also to expand of racing universe. As well PD wants you to appreciate every kind of racing that there is. Kaz mention he was very inspired when he was at a NASCAR race, also he mention that he was suprised how NASCAR treats their fans good and how many come to see a race. In Europe numbers are slowly dropping. If only European car racing events knew how to satisfy their fans.

But anyways, yeah both to get more sales, as well to expand GT Fans ideas of good racing. Heck you never see me LOVE NASCAR, but soon when GT5 comes out I will be playing it a lot for offline and online.

NASCAR is not just ovals though, and one of tracks was in GT4 and will probably be in GT5.

Although NASCAR is run primarly on ovals and as the Daytona oval is in GT5, it makes sense to have cars that can run it in the way it was intended.

that is not gran turismo style.
What is Gran Turismo style? They don't have a style other than trying to get as many different types of racing into one game.

I dont' like nascar at all (like drifiting) but is something more in the game. it's ok. I think they put it in the game to increase sales and get more customers with more variety.

This is what can happen at Talladega/Daytona.

Now tell me that is boring.

yes for me it's boring. It's just a crash. if you have to post a crash to show me how good nascar is.. Why not putting bombs on the tracks?

I dont' see anything nust in that. it' so boring.

Spa Francorchamps's Eau Rouge it's nuts, nurburing is nuts.. not that.

Some physics info incoming. Take cover, it may be boring too. Those cars are travelling at around 200 mph. The wheels are inches from each other. The rear part of the rear tyre of the car in front is travelling upwards at 200 mph and the front part of the front tyre of the car behind is travelling downwards at 200 mph. If, by any chance, they meet at full speed at a suitable angle the front wheel of the car behind will be launched upwards at 400 mph - very briefly but still. Racing like that is most definitely what I'd call nuts and it takes more guts than most of us ever have.

You know what, I'm done with trying to defend my sport, it is obvious people just hate it because it's American so why even bother. People will hate it either way.

I dont' hate it cause it's american. I just dont' like it at all and i think it's boring.

You barely even tried! You posted a video of a bad crash, other members quite rightly stated that crashes aren't entertaining, and now you're giving up. Not very loyal to the sport are you?!

you call entertainment REAL AND DANGEROUS ACCIDENTS?... (yes of course, that's what "some" people want)
Would it be entertaining for YOU if you were the one taking the hit and risking your own life?

anyway that doesn't mean I don't want nascar in gt5

I'm not just talking about this thread, every time NASCAR is mentioned people all of a sudden have a need to bash it. What I really don't understand is why? There are plenty of things I don't like, yet I never make a thread just to say I don't like it or make a post in a thread about saying how much it sucks.

It is one of many aspects of racing. Same reason why drifting was included. Another aspect of motor sports. How is its inclusion confusing?

The reason people bash NASCAR is because they don't understand it. They think they do, but they don't.

The cars are beasts. It's not anything like driving a road car, or GT car around an oval track. One concentration lapse or mistake at those speeds and things turn bad very quickly.

Personally, I really dislike watching NASCAR, but I appreciate the insane numbers involved and the skill needed to race at those speeds, in those cars, for several hours.

Not even close to true. Not even ballpark.

heres an info.. i dont like nascar or oval racing :mischievous:

but you know what, i just dont play it then. stop whining about irrelevant stuff.

nobody is forcing you to use this feature. why do people even bother.
im pretty sure there are a lot of players that hate rallying (i actually quite like it). They just ignore it and move on.

Jesus christ!!!

Be happy if you like it, if you dont - just dont give a damn

Gosh not again.
NASCAR is great, in its own way, if you dont like it, drive something else.
Do i think F1 is boring 90% of the time? Yes! Is this a reason why it shouldnt be in GT5? No!

And this is Gran Turismo, you can drive these cars on ANY damn track in the game (minus Rally probably), so this whole "only left turns" is pretty stupid.

EDIT: Lol, hey mink, hows it going?

it's easy to maintain concentrations when all you do is turn left all day long ;p

What part of Greycap's post did you not understand? 👎

Personally, NASCAR is the only motorsport that I would ever watch on TV. I love that I can keep track of the race, unlike other motorsports. I've said it once, and I will say it again: watching a race is the most boring thing next to doing nothing that I can think of. I can't support anyone, since i don't know anyone. Racing in real life, or in a game for that matter, on the other hand, is one of the most entertaining things I can do. Does it require skill? Greycap has already proved that it does. Every motorsport requires skill. There are some motorsports however, like drifting, that I dislike since it's not a real race.

NASCAR is, in my opinion, the most important feature I have seen yet coming from GT5. IF I ever get a PS3, you can bet your 🤬 that I will be playing as much as humanly possible for me.

Maybe a bit strange for someone from England, I do actually find Nascar quite interesting to watch. While I wouldnt in anyway put it up there with top level racing like F1 or La Mans, it certainly requires a hell of a lot of skill to drive that close. (And I'd admit I do like the crashes, particularly when a driver can have a smash like that one that was linked get out the car and run across the line!)

That said, I am a little worried about its inclusion in GT, much like with the WRC license I'm just concerned that PD will fail to do it justice to remotely the same level as it deserves (or that a dedicated game would offer). Of course I would love to be proved wrong!
