Quick question, if we do get weather in GT5, do you think we'd be allowed to race NASCARs in the wet? :)

I would think so on the road courses, however I don't think any car will be able to race on an oval in the rain.

Like Nascar or not. It will be in GT5.

Boost sales, yes.

Nascar racing boring? It can be, but hey, you drive a 3500 pound car 150 miles per hour around a corner with worn out and slick tires.

The crashes do not keep me that entertained. Although its cool to see 15 different replay angles. The racing entertains me, and I think if some gave Nascar a chance, they would see what most Nascar fans see. Which is good racing.

I think its boring watching two cars chase each other with No passing for 100 laps. Indy...F1..But hey that is my opinion. Nascar can have the same thing. But there is a lot of good racing that goes on. The same with F1 and Indy.

If PD portrays Nascar right, then I will be spending a lot of time chase 42 cars in a circle.

Isn't there only 2 events in the whole season that aren't ovals though?
Aren't there only 2 events in the whole (Formula 1) season where overtaking occurs?[/sarcasm]

Seriously, if you don't want to race the cars, don't race the cars. I'm not much for Nascar, honestly, but I don't comprehend how simply having the cars in the game is a bad thing.

when i am watching nascar on tv, i think it is very exciting to see them go though corners. it is a big corner i suppose but the speed they are going in and exiting is so fast that as the car exits, you can see a little over steer of the car and the drivers are doing whatever they can to not stopping the throttle and be able to control the car. i am not saying nascar is not fun or anything, but i felt gran turismo always focused more on track car racing. well, it certainly doesnt hurt to add more features.

if your amazed im going to take it your not that big of a tech nerd then. but to answer the question no there where only 15 (or 16 cant remember) cars shown in the trailer.

I don't really see your point. 16 cars is pushing it as it is, ps3 only has a geforce 7 card, the one in my 3 year old laptop is better. I mean on courses like eiger, when only like 5 or 6 cars are bunched up on the turns you can see the framerate stutter, so yeah any more than 16 dream on, PS3 is old tech, people seem to think the developers can pull off miracles.

Reason: Sony needs the money.

Just like GTMobile is taking time away from the development of GT5, but Sony needs to make money on PSP.

End of discussion.

Its also not directly comparable to PC games in any way because the PS3 is standardized and PCs are not. You would be amazed how much power you can squeeze out of a GPU when you don't have to muck about with programming for multiple chipsets.

Good god at the OP.

nascar in real life is not just racing based on ovals.... there are dedicated road courses as shown above(infineon and Watkins glen)also keep in mind that Practically all SuperSpeedways(this excludes short tracks) have road courses built in them, daytona infield from gt5p,indianapolis infield from Motogp 08,texas motor speedway infield from need for speed pro street, and excetera. Also let me add that i will be doing time attacks on suzuka, nurburgring and de la sarthe in jeff gordons chevorlet monte carlo..Or any other nascar. which i have to admit will be awesome.

True, but I'm pretty sure you wont see too many current gen console games that look better than what runs on an 8800 card.

ANYWAY, to answer the OP, of course its for US sales. Its taking them time and effort to put it, so they'll want some sort of return for it, and they aren't going to see bigger returns anywhere but the US. Well, maybe the 5 people outside of the US who like NASCAR might be interested :P but I dont see NASCAR helping sales anywhere but the US.

Personally I'm not a fan of NASCAR, I dont like it in any of the games I've played and always avoid it if possible. It does take skill and I'll admit I'm bad at oval racing, but that doesn't change the fact I find it boring :P If I didn't find it boring I'd probably take the time to become good at it. That said, I'm not going to complain about it being in GT5, because its another form of racing that deserves to be in the game... I can just pray they include some extra forms of racing that I enjoy, like open wheelers ;)

Just because some people don't like NASCAR, why should the thousands of NASCAR fans miss out on their favourite, and let's face it, very popular series?

First you have to find something that looks better, I have a 4870X2 and am not too impressed with what is on offer yet (I have tried almost all the top graphics games).

My point was that even though the PS3 graphics are better than the 7000 series cars they are based on, they still aren't so good that they are better than what an 8800GTS can do.

I'm well aware that PC games haven't improved much beyond what requires an 8800GTX ;) The main advantage you'll get going from an 8800GTX to a more recent high end card is a smoother framerate (opposed to an actual increase in graphical quality).

Thats right.

Im not convinced it will increase sales.

What I have noticed amongst my US friends from Forza is the general lack of interest for GT5. It seems the only racing game that exists is Forza 3 and thats it. However I also have friends from Australia and obviously Europe and their attitude is completely different with many of them planning on buying both.

This might ruffle a few features in what im about to say but I wonder if this preference from the US for Forza 3 is simply down to Turn 10 being an american developer. I cannot really think of another explanation for my friends attitudes.

Nascar is part of motorsport so it should be included in GT5 even if it's just to gain more sales in the US market. Maybe if they perfect the damage part in the full game we can add demolition derby into the mix.

I think that is due to Forza's American car variety, and the fact that the 360 is more popular in the States.

Xbox 360 is very popular in the US, Xbox this Xbox that.

I also cant stand Nascar. As most have already said it truly is just a lot of lefts in a huge oval track. I have tried many times to watch Nascar and simply cant get into it at all. And thats coming from someone that actually races in road track events each year in real life. Nascar only has 1 or 2 road track events and those are actually quite fun to watch but thats the only Nascar I can stand. Hopefully GT5 will have the road tracks and not just the huge Oval tracks.
