From what I've read the debate is not which track has the gtreatest event but which track layout has better characteristics like elavation, corners, variation, long straights, rough edges etc...

The more tracks the merrier!

Totally agree with you 100%

[Bathurst] "are among the seven new locations"
GU6RFOi.png

We know these "7 new locations" are included from release so... I'm really hoping it's included on the disc :D Guess will just have to wait 12 more days till TGS announcements where we might find out that 7th track...

Umm there used to be a Bathurst 24 hour, and there is now a Bathurst 12 hour, which is growing year to year..... with GT3 reg cars in the main class, featuring factory cars from Mercedes and Audi etc

And you know there is a certain official Nissan entered GT3 GT-R team next race, with GT Academy drivers....

1+1= 3 :dunce:

And this is why I ask the question what cars will we get? We will have the Schulze GT-R GT3 but, will we get the YouTube GTA car? Will we only get the Altima V8SC(the Norton Hornets)? I was hoping for a full grid(all 4 manufacturers until the Volvo arrives). Once the XBOX VF was revealed I'm not to sure what we'll get.

Honestly don't know, but PD always has suprises up their sleeves...
Just have some unmarked cars, and with a livery editor we can have any car we want... :)

if this doesn't get your blood pumping... we haven't seen many games that do a full day/night cycle of Bathurst yet, GT6 maybe it

Mugello! Zandvoort! Guia!

Then, and only then, Charade

I've watched the FIA GT Series race at Zandvoort earlier this year and it was an awesome track. It had plenty of elevations. It would an awesome addition to GT6. The other track that I would like to have as a DLC is Red Bull Ring.

I'm not too excited about Bathurst myself. I'd rather have Zolder first. I enjoyed it in Shift 2.

NOTE: This is my opinion.

You guys realize this thread isn't about expressing your opinion about Bathurst right? Try to stick to the OP or risk getting the thread closed.

Considering it's now confirmed for Forza 5, it will be pretty frustrating if it's not in GT6 at release as well.

Müle
Not everyone is Australian.

I'm American and I find Sebring to be pretty bland. It's probably because there's 0.000013 inches of elevation change between its highest and lowest points. I like elevation change because it adds flavor. Sebring feels like I'm racing around in a big parking lot, which isn't really all that far off from the reality of it since it was an old air base.

That does look like a lot of fun. More a tarmac rally course than a permanent race track though. Do they still race there?

Sadly, no. This track hosted the French Grand Prix for a few years. But it was built around a volcano, which makes it impossible to construct escape areas (something like the Nordschleife in that regard). In adittion, some F1 drivers complained of getting sick on those bends. Besides all this, rocks fell on the track, causing punctures and shunts. The last race on the old Clermont-Ferrand (aka Charade Circuit) was held in 88.

Because of all this, a modern, and a lot safer, track was built. The old track is featured in the Grand Prix movie from 1966.

Even the modern one is interesting:

Helmut Marko, Red Bull Racing's head of young driver development, raced at Clermont Ferrand and was hit in the eye with gravel kicked up by another car and blinded in one eye. Real old school circuit which I would love to try in a game.

No problem, let's learn about this magnificent piece of tarmac:

Great find. I haven't seen a proper onboard lap of Charade before, only pictures, some film from the 70's and GPL.

Bringing old defunct circuits like this back to life with PS3 graphics would be great for the GT series. Project CARS is already starting to develop a model of Solitude Circuit.

I would much rather PD gives the player a sense of travelling the planet by modelling these classic circuits rather than wasting time modelling an endless stream of mediocre ficitious street circuits.

Back to the topic, I think Bathurst will definitely be included at some point, simply because of the information already shown elsewhere in this thread. No-one knows whether it is going to be as DLC or as release. I suspect DLC because PD have removed any mention of Bathurst, and kept it hidden from the trailers so far.

Sorry but it's true, in regards to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, it's not the track that made the race famous, it's the race that made the track famous, Australia has some better racetracks out there, some sadly closed down.

I don't know about better but something like Lobethal would be right on par with Bathurst. It was considered the Spa-Francorchamps from down under. I would kill to see that in GT/any racing game, but that's for a wish list thread...

Sorry but no. Just no.

There's a reason the main Australian touring car race never moved on from bathurst.

The track has massive elevation changes. Is near street circuit tight, still manages to have many passing opportunities and has the fastest touring car corner in the world. There is no better circuit in Australia. None.

Like what, Oran Park?

You couldn't be more wrong. Bathurst is the best circuit in Australia and one of the best in the world for the reasons mentioned by others previously (and the fact that it has the fastest straight in the country).

In fact apart from Phillip Island, we don't really have any other tracks that come anywhere near it

I suspect Bathurst will be flagship DLC, same as Spa was for GT5.

Can't wait. The track is epic.

Of other prospects mentioned above, Road America would be my first choice. It was my fav track in S2U and is a proper challenge, can easily hold its own with the Spas and Bathursts of the world.

I'm hoping that something else that we haven't predicted becomes the flagship DLC. Knowing the best thing to come downplays the other DLCs for me. However, if PD secretly buys the V8 Supercar license and delivers it with Bathurst, that would be something to behold.

Eastern Creek and Winton are both very good tracks, and would suit a wider range of cars. Bathurst tends to favour high-powered cars with the serious elevation change and the loooong straights.

If you were going to take one and only one race track from Australia, to suit as many different types of racing as possible, Oran Park would be the one.

Oran Park is small and slow, which is why it was closed down. Eastern Creek is better since the re-design of turns 5 and 6/7 but it still doesn't come close to the character of Bathurst.

Winton is one of my least favourite circuits on the V8 Supercar calendar. It's too slow, too flat and there aren't enough passing opportunities. Apart from which, the layout is boring.

While high powered cars do well around Bathurst due to the elevation change and long straights, the circuit still demands a well balanced car (through McPhillamy Park and The Dipper in particular). Did you ever watch the touring car races of old with the M3s and Sierras racing against the Aussie V8s? Very tight between the different types of cars and some of the best racing you will see.

You could drive a Toyota Echo flat out around Bathurst and you still be holding your breath between the Cutting and Forrest's elbow. Not to mention the extra couple of km top speed you would get on the downhill run down Conrod Straight :)

I'm intrigued to know which racetracks you are referring to. I've driven on Bathurst a few times as a public road, and no other track I've seen in Australia can compare. Watching the track on tv doesn't give you a clear impression of the elevation changes... It is an amazing track.

I couldn't care less about the V8 Supercars, but I sometimes watch the race just for the track... Nothing else.
