Most standards can go, I just want the older cars to get upgraded and of course the '98 Mini Cooper. Would love the Mini to be an older type like the iconic 60's Mini Cooper S but at least it's still in GT.

Just to reiterate...
I do think though that as absurd as it sounds to some of you, I don't see how having the option to load the Standard models into individuals game files by deliberate choice should bother anyone.

Then what about online?

Why not just use PS1 generation models? Heck, then people could have 10,000 cars if they chose to import them.

The issue is that PD thinks that this poor quality is okay in multiple aspects of the game. I'd rather they ditch them entirely and learn to have high quality standards for all areas of the game as opposed to letting in these poor PS2 era cars 15 years after they were modeled.

To put it in perspective, the original iPhone came out 7 years ago. Today, it's seen as ancient, and would probably frustrate anybody who used it to death, because today's equivalent is literally miles ahead.

GT's standard models are twice as old. Technology has moved on. The expectations have moved on. It isn't PS2 anymore.

Then what about online?
What about online? Or are you going to be one of those meanies banning people from your room for wanting to race Standards?

And really, if some of you people are offended that some of us will choose the option to install Standard cars on our very own copies of GT7, you guys are troubled souls.

Not saying I'd ban them. But YOU asked why people would be upset if people could upload standards to their game. I was saying that if they were online, people would have every right to be upset. If they don't want to deal with them, they shouldn't have to, just as you shouldn't have to do without them if you truly want them.

This works both ways, you have to realize that.

I have and use a Droid 1. I work with someone else who has and uses a Droid 1. I also have and use a Droid 2. I'm not missing out on much. Sure, there are some bells and whistles, but the basic function is still there, and it's all I need.

I have a feeling that PD may possibly put the upgrades on the manufacturers a bit more going forward.

No, I'm sorry. This is a really dumb, LAME attitude to have. Upset because someone has a Standard car, I mean seriously...

Do not call somebody's opinion dumb. If so, yours is equally as dumb.

I DO NOT want to see crappy PS2 cars on a PS4 game AT ALL. If you think my opinion is dumb for that, then your opinion is equally dumb and lame for wanting such POS cars in a PS4 game. Grow up and quit the name calling.

Well look, you're really being a drama queen about this. It's one thing to urge that all cars be Premiums in GT7, or at least with some of them being heavily Premiumized. But it's something else entirely to insist that "I would be outraged if Standard cars were in GT7, even as an option."

Do you really think that's a totally reasonable position?

I wouldn't be outraged if they were an option. There you go again taking things out of context.

It's fine if they're an option, but I don't want to see them. It's a PS4 and I don't want PS2 assets on it. If you can't respect that, then I have to ask you why you're being hypocritical.

Also, the namecalling such as saying I'm a drama queen for expressing my opinion needs to stop.

What are you going to do if GT7 Prologue is, as some rumors speculate, GT6 thrown onto PS4 with a bunch of goodies and upgrades?

And a quick edit: Standard dislikers, please be reasonable about this. I get your points about wanting nothing but Premium content in GT7, tracks too. But you also have to keep in mind what that means, especially in regard to tracks. It takes a LONG TIME to make a Premium track, up to two man-years. Unless PD doubles its track modeling team or more, and I'm sure SONY would have something to say about profitability margins involving a company they fund pretty heavily, this doesn't mean a large track list. And having a variety of tracks is as much the lifeblood of a racing game as cars.

In regard to these cars, not only am I unable to fathom the big, drastic emotional reaction to them, or the sounds or any other aspect of Gran Turismo. But I also don't get that you guys on that side basically want a game that suits you, and everyone else can jump in a drainage ditch. At least my proposal would suit gamers on BOTH sides of the issue equally.

And if this does indeed happen, or Prologue is essentially GT6 supersized on PS4, all I can say is that I hope everyone marks out their territories both here on the boards and online, so no one has to be treated like some kind of hooligan because their choice of how to enjoy the game offends someone. I want both sides to be happy, and nice, and not... well, ridiculous.

Hey, anything is possible in this strange gaming environment. ;)

And we don't know what PD is doing. GT7 Prologue could be GT6 with some monster additions for all we know, or just as easily be something like GT5 Prologue with Premium content solely, perhaps even larger, perhaps even more expandable. Or Prologue could be some psy-warfare against Microsoft, and the focus could still be mostly GT6. But with the dearth of content for GT6 so far, I'm thinking more by the day that a seriously rebuilt GT6 will be coming this holiday season to a PS4 near you. Or at least near many of us, like me. ;)

I see a simple game being released as GT7. Prologue or not, the cast is set that it will be capable of being added to.

THAT says a LOT for what is going to happen.

Buy it whenever. It's going to grow!

And, that sets another precedent: ONE GT for the PS4.

Same here, if I shell out $400+ for a next gen console, the last thing I want to see is not 1 but 2 generation old assets on it. Would any other AAA game recycle assets 2 generations old? Forget AAA, would any game do that? I understand why a tiny minority of people still want the old cars, just like I still want McDonalds hamburgers to be $0.50 and gas to be $0.50/litre but those days are long gone and so should the standards. If PD is even considering it, it says a lot about Kaz's desire for "perfection", or lack thereof. If he really was such a perfectionist, we wouldn't have standard cars or tracks on the PS3 either.

I doubt there will be standard cars in the game, if there is I will be very disappointed. I understand that the standard car list brings a lot more content but it just looks dated and makes the game look rough and unfinished. If you can imagine what a fully detailed PS4 quality car in GT7 will look like, imagine the disparity between the high quality cars and the standard cars. The standard cars are based on PS2 car models which are severely outdated in terms of Polycount, textures, materials, lighting etc. They are so far out of date that PD will not be able to simple update them to a premium standard. If PD wanted the Jaguar XJ220 in a premium car for example, they will have to re-model it entirely from scratch. This is why at best there has only been a handful of cars that have gone from standard to premium. We will definitely see premium cars in GT7 that were once standard but it will be limited number. I would say 20 cars if we are lucky.

Well Johnny, it's all well and good to say that modern games should be completely modern and ONLY modern, but what about my proposal? Is it out of line to offer not DLC, but the Standard cars - and maybe tracks, what about those? - on the Blu-ray disc? With 48-49GB of space, the Standard content would tuck nicely among all the other data, most likely, and you would have the OPTION to install it with the regular game, or skip it. Or install it later.

Is offering us a choice out of the question? And then, about this...
I understand why a tiny minority of people still want the old cars
It's about one fifth of the crowd in the latest poll. Now let's try a similar question, and round the potential GT7/P fanbase to roughly what GT5 was, say 10 million. Suppose one fifth of them were adamant about a hard core simulation aspect to the next GT. Would roughly two million people be a "tiny minority"? ;)

Sorry to dissapoint all of you but standards will be present in GT7 altleast a much better version.

https://www.gtplanet.net/no-prologue-for-gran-turismo-7-standard-cars-likely-included/

I don't understand how they think that's okay. Just take a day to sit down looking at the car list, cut all the duplicates and just copy/paste interiors for cars that are almost identical (like Skylines of the same generation but different model years). It's a whole lot better than what we have now.

It's
Looks like this question has been answered. And sad that standard cars are being kept.
Its either cutting the car count or increasing the amount with standards included. I just hope the standards are like a semi ps3 premium version not a ps2 era version. People will critisize if they cut the car counts or include standards. By the time they finish upgrading them all to premium it will be 2020

That could be a solution! 💡
