Will there be a McLaren P1 in GT6?

Kazunori, I ask you with the tender voice of the child that lives within me, with all my innocence and illusion:

Please. LaFerrari, P1, Veneno. I want to feel like a little child again, I want to live the fantasy of driving the cars that will define my generation.

Please. Pweety pwease.

They will pull a aventador on the p1 and the laferrari, which makes it suck really badly as I don't buy dlc. I can't stand these business practices, reason like this are enough for me to wish the company doing these practices to fail badly. I'm still pissed of at pd for having the aventador as dlc in gt5.

And what did you expect them to do about it... delay the game itself to fit the car on the disc?

DLC works on the same basis as every other early-adopter product out there. You're paying more for an Aventador now (er, back in 2011) to be used in GT5, or you could wait and hypothetically pay no more extra for that car than the normal price of the game for GT6, but you'd be missing out on driving it for two years. Whether or not the DLC is worth it is a personal choice - though you're likely to compare it to other, similar products, which can change the "value" for you.

Would you have rather waited a year for the game or waited until GT6 for the car?

There is nothing wrong with DLC in general. I do take exceptions with the way some companies do it though. For example NFS Pro Street had some DLC cars but on the PC version those DLC cars were on the install disc just not accessible. That I have a huge problem with but in cases like GT5 where they offered us new content long after we purchased the game I have no problem at all and of course I bought it all in GT5 as well.

The McP1 will probably be in the game, but TBH I'd rather have the newest Vitz. And yes, I'm being serious, the XP130 1.5 RS is quite the machine. Very competitive with the DE Demio 1.5 and the Fit 1.5.

One could only hope for this car, but what we do know is we get an upgraded from standard premium 70s lambo, while we KNOW Forza 5 will have it!!! LOL wtf!

Which just happens to be the Countach - arguably one of the most awesome cars of all times.

I adore the Countach. That exact Countach PD has in GT6 was also shown in a japanese manga my younger brother read as well, and its also one of his favorite cars as well. The Countach IMO, is way better than those modern super cars we see today if you ask me.

I had a scale model Countach, with detailed interior and engine :) It was a later version though. It was labeled as the 25th anniversary version, but in fact it was the LP500S. Pretty much this:

I find that many modern supercars have an odd styling. To me the F40 looks miles better than any modern Ferrari. The McLaren MP4 would look good if it had some rear light. The P1 to me looks like the McLaren design studio just found out how to use the mesh distort tools in their 3D design software and now they love it so much that they don't know when to kill their darlings. There's no balance, no class. Just a bunch of awesome shapes thrown together without regard for the complete picture.

That being said, I heard it's quite fast so for that reason I wouldn't mind seeing it in GT6 :)

Oooo love that model along with the other models of the Countach, you're lucky to have a scale model of one. :)

Yeah the modern supercars do seem odd looking nowadays (have you seen the Veneno? lol). I've always loved to looks of the classic supercars, like the one you've mention, the F40 (my favorite car of all time btw. ;)).

I like the P1 but I will say it does look rather funny. I wouldn't disagree nor argue to want the P1 in GT6 as well, it will be a really fun car to drive and cruise in. 👍

Even though the Miura was the first mid-engined supercar (and where the term supercar was first coined to describe it in a roadtest by the way), you could argue that the Countach had a much bigger impact in how supercars have evolved since, not least in the way they tend to look.
And even though I was already aware of the Countach as a young kid through books and magazines, seeing this (cheesy in a good way :D) intro on TV pretty much sealed the deal.

Koenigsegg needs to exist full stop. So many games have them, why not GT?

I never got the appeal of Koenigsegg, to me they always appear as a rather generic hypercar stereotype, nothing particularly unique or characteristic that sets them apart (just a squat, wide and dull basic shape), aside from impressive performance figures or that they seem to be build to a very high standard.

But then again, the only current super/hypercars that get me excited are the Pagani Huayra and to a lesser extend the La Ferrari.

That's exactly why I enjoy driving a virtual one, because they're stupidly fast and tricky to control at speed. Exactly what I want from a hypercar. The Huayra is pretty similar in that sense.

I don't really care about the looks, most modern super/hypercars are pretty ghastly IMO.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't just a case of whether a car is beautiful or not (to some extend I get the demand for a car like the Gumpert which to me is pig ugly yet unique or at least different) but whether it really offers something genuinely different to experience that currently isn't available or can't be replicated (I reckon the performance levels of a Koenigsegg or the basic driving experience it offers can already be had using the supercars currently available unless I'm missing something that really sets a Koenigsegg apart in the way it delivers that performance).

I did focus purely on the visual appeal (or lack of it) in my previous post though and to be honest it does play a role (if it was a gorgeous design with incredible detailing like a Huayra I'd be more easily persuaded), but if a Koenigsegg for example was a twin-engined beast or had 6 wheels for example (or something far less extreme but significantly different) I'd be far more excited, even though obviously I don't mind them being included at all (any brand is welcome, even the ones I personally dislike).

It's hard to qualify really, I guess we either desire a certain car or not and the CCX, CCGT and Agera are just desirable to me. 800 - 1100hp, 1500kg and huge fat rear tyres on a decent enough looking shell is a great recipe for me.

It also just adds to variety of competition if you're going to have a bonkers supercar race. I'd like to see a Koenigsegg or other smaller manufactuer rather than just a bunch of Ferrari's, Lambo's, and McLaren's.

True.

It does need Premium versions of Bugatti and Pagani roadcars (and the Aston One-77 for example or other supercars by other brands already included) but it isn't the supercar category which I found most lacking variety in GT5.

I'm personally not bothered by the inclusion of any hypercar, as I'm sure I'd have much, much more fun racing with a low powered car of some kind. Obviously, if other people want it because they think they would enjoy it - then by all means. :D

I'm not that crazy about them either. I know a lot of people went crazy over the Bugatti but personally I think it is ugly and does not drive very well. It is fast no doubt as are the other hyper cars but speed without handling is not a good combination.

There are lots of very fast cars in GT5 and of course the fastest of them all in the X1 if that's what you are into.

There are lots of super/hyper cars in Forza 4 but they do not win many races, they are fast but do not handle well enough to beat slower cars on most circuits

I would like to see the La Ferrari in GT6, I don't even care if I have to get it as dlc or the Ruf CTR3.

I hope DriveClub's acquisition of RUF is a sign of things to come for another exclusive Sony racing series. AKA: Gran Turismo ;)

One of the things I'm looking for is the premium car manufacturer list. It has to be bolstered up some more. KTM and Light Car Company is a good start, but there's got to be more lurking...

As far as the P1 goes, PD were spotted at McLaren during GT5's development. A member spotted PD looking at the F1 and MP4-12C. Perhaps they'll be more secretive this time.

If we get the P1 in GT6 then kudos to PD.

Worst case scenario (only a "What if" theory) would a repeat of the situation that arose when Forza Horizon was first to get the SRT Viper and GT5 got the first claim to the C7 Corvette (i.e. if the P1 is exclusive to FM5, then the LaFerrari would be first in GT6 in a case of one-upmanship.) I reiterate that this is a worst case "What if" scenario.

I'm confused as to why certain models would be exclusive. If you have a license for McLaren (Which they obviously do) then why would that not cover all basis? Aside from Formula 1 of course.

I need to work on some of my theories instead of spouting garbage.:ouch: I'll leave the sensible talk to others.

Cars are licensed on a per car basis, not just as a whole as a manufacturer. They agree on a car or set of cars when signing an agreement.

The Huayra was EA exclusive for a year, for example. PD has a Pagani licence but they couldn't just include any Pagani with it, only the models agreed.

I have to say, the P1 looks quite interesting and I would indeed like to have it but for the most part, I'd rather have older iconic cars rather than new if given the choice. Hell, I don't even know most of them. When I saw the S1 in the reveal I wept!
