Will you be exclusively "premium" in GT6?

Back when we were still waiting for Gran Turismo 5 to come out, there were plenty of people here on the GTPlanet forums and elsewhere across the Internet declaring their hate for the "standard" cars in the game, and insisting they'd only lay their virtual racing gloves on GT5's fully modelled "premium" vehicles.

Three years later, and I'm wondering if anyone out there has that mentality towards Gran Turismo 6's car roster, irrespective of Polyphony's/Kaz's decision to not officially differentiate the two types of cars by placing them in their own separate quality categories.

I won't be jumping on the poll bandwagon for this one, but I am interested in seeing what you've all got to say about it - are the 120+ new (presumably) "premiums" and the expected onslaught of fully rendered DLC cars in the coming months only going to keep you hooked on the high quality models, or will you be showing the "standards" some love and attention in Gran Turismo 6?
It was physically impossible to make it all the way through the campaign without using some sort of standards. The truck race is the perfect example. ALL the trucks were standard, thus, you HAD to drive one to finish the entire campaing. So anyone claiming they beat the entire campaign yet never touched a standard car, is 100% lying. That's just 1 example. I know there are more events that required standards. Don't even get me going on the frustration of waiting for a truck to cycle day after day through the huge standard car list in the used section.

I am sure GT6 will be the same way. You wont be able to make it through the entire campaign without using some sort of standard car. Yes I know the word "standard" has been removed, but the standard cars are still there.

Same here, which is why I prefer the premiums.
Same here. I tried to avoid standards any way I could. Once they released the update that added the very generic black outline interiors, it helped a little but not much. But it did get me back into the game. At least I was able to drive all the cars from what felt like the inside. Compared to launch when standards did not have an interior AT ALL. 80% of the game.

Premiums only for me, mainly because I enjoy driving from cockpit view. The letterbox outline view is not good enough and the cockpit view itself was something that was sorely missing from GT for years so now that its available Im not interested in driving any car that doesn't provide it. It's just the most realistic driving view, how many pro drivers sit up on their rear spoiler steering their cars in real life? :)

I'll get both.

I will not be a completionist as last time though. How many hours wasted getting all miatas and skylines, only for me never to race them!

I remember the noise about the standards when GT5 first came out. I did initially try to stay clear of them when I fired up my career but as Camaroboy mentioned, you reached a point where you really had no option but to use one. Before the blacked out cockpit update, they sure were a turn off. Killed the whole experience as I prefer the cockpit cam to anything. Also, I'm no physics guru, but it did seem that the physics of the standard cars were more "dull" than the Premiums. They just felt different, anyone feel the same?

The standards do seem better in GT6, won't be boycotting them or anything.

I too felt standards to be dull, I'm assuming it's just a placebo though.

Yes the standards for sure felt like they had less effort in the physics department. Since they were ported from the PSP, along with all the other features being ignored, its no surprise.

In GT6, if the "Standard" cars are bit polished with improved textures, and jagged edges removed, that will be great.

Hard to say because most of the standards were from the 90's and back and most of the cars, even premiums, had less grip in the game, as they did in real life. You'd really have to do a side by side comparison to know for sure, with two similar cars, one premium, one standard.

Now that the Standards and Premiums are grouped under the same dealership, no, I will use both car types. Simply because now I can look through the single dealer at any time and see what catches my eye; I used to be Premium only as much as I could in GT5 due to the needless hit-and-miss of the UCD (I never worked out where I was on either of the two master lists). But now! it's all gone! :D

If anything I'm looking forward to GT6 more because of the merge of the two car sets. Seems a lot more friendly and easier to pick out a car I would want at any given time! :)

I'm starting to notice more and more people saying the standard cars have less advanced physics than premiums in GT5. Hopefully, people won't feel this way about them in GT6 since it will have much better physics. Otherwise, I see absolutely no point in driving standard cars.

But with no indicator, unless it's super obvious, how can we tell which are premium? I would hate to choose a car, load the race, then go into cockpit view and see it was a standard, exit, rinse/ repeat. Put a 'p' or something.

No worries, I am sure someone here at the planet will compile a list then we can boot the standards out to the storage barn (or whatever they are calling it) and keep the premiums in the garage.

What about the Jaguar XJR-9? There are probably other examples but I remember that one specifically. It started life in GT5 as a standard and then later it was added as a premium. I assume that would be a pretty good test of if the physics are different, given it's the exact same car model.

I drove 90% standards where possible. Premiums are overrated. But I didn't mind putting a couple of miles and changes on the premium R32 SKYLINE so I could leave my standards with less changes and low mileage.

Some of, if not most of, the best cars are standard in GT5. Perhaps I got used to them and I'm a wheel user so the cockpit isn't as important to me and in some ways just a distraction.

But I do discriminate over audio... The M3 is a real joy to drive but it sounds like anything but a BMW. After a few laps my head feels full of bees. Mechanical engine noise should just be deleted, no one hears it unless they are under the hood anyway. Even hybrid cars have simulated engine noise piped through the interior and if that isn't an indication of how important audio is then I don't know what is.

Sorry to go off topic, but I really don't think audio will be updated beyond newer dlc and even that is a iffy as Kaz blames the audio system. In the past anytime Kaz has acknowledged feedback openly it's been with a loose "we are looking into it" and never been properly addressed. Just keeping my expectations in check...
