Will you be exclusively "premium" in GT6?

I just don't understand why folks are complaining there are too many cars in the game.

I can understand why, they see it as a half-arsed marketing ploy to say "look we have the most cars, even though a fifth or fourth are model wonderfully and the bulk is just a port to inflate numbers". With the way PD has not told us this time around as much as prior to GT5 what the difference is going to be, people are obviously going to be mad. This wont stop me from buying the game, I'll live with the fact that trying to update these cars is a process, however I do think that GT could use less of the duplicate cars they have unless there is a vastly significant difference. However, I can see why the other side thinks all cars should stay which is quite simple "more is better".

EDIT: yeah that was a big typo fix...

I totally agree with everything you have stated. I think it is dumb to include so many Miata's and GT-R's and etc. etc. But it doesn't affect my feelings toward the game in the least. The vitriol blows my mind.

I Only choose standatrd cars... because UCD...

I thinks thats the most fun aspect... to look for cars and not knowing when they will be available... as opposed to just going to buy the car from thep

I'll probably use ~ 300(75%) of the premiums, and however many standards I used in GT5( maybe 350, or 44%)

It's not that I don't like standards... it's just that of the 500 remaining standards, 150 are duplicates and the other 300 just don't interest me.

Same goes with some of the premiums. I'll just use 1 NASCAR from each year, 1 of the Nissan race cars(there's like 10 that cost 950k) etc. Cuts out the rest.

In GT5, while I disliked a lot the idea of standard cars, I got to use them pretty early since the game had a rather limited roster of Premium cars, and most of my favorites were standard. Some cars, however, I wouldn't touch at all since the extremely bad graphics (in comparison to other standards) were a complete turn-off for me.

GT6 won't be any different when it comes to me using both standard and premium cars. Luckily it seems GT6 will allow standards to be used in Photo travel. :)

standart cars have made a big different when you see them on replay, I mean big difference between standart and premium. should be better if we just have 500 or 600 cars but all of them are premium

You don't really have much choice. Since the vast majority of cars are standards, it's very difficult to avoid them. I would much rather have 400-500 premiums without standards as opposed to about 260 or 270 premium models (excluding duplicates and different liveries) with the other 800 + being standards.
But, as the old adage goes, it is what it is and we've just got to try and make the most out of it.

I was pretty much exclusively premium in GT5. Save for a few standards that really should've been premium(Veyron, older GT500s, FGT, etc), I pretty much only found the premiums interesting. I would imagine it'll be a similar situation in GT6.

Exclusively premium? No way. I'm switching to GT because of the unique variety of cars, and I don't really care too much about the graphics. Plus, I would lose my precious DOME ZERO...

Premiums are just highly detailed cars to me. Standards and Premium cars are no different in my perspective; I'm still driving the car I want to drive, with the tuning, customization options, and performance I expect as well.

It's not about the amount of cars in the cars, it's about the difference in quality. I can't understand why it's acceptable to deliver PS2 era quality on a PS3 game. It could be excused for GT5, but GT6 will have 400 (or close to) premium cars wich should be enough for any car nut out there. Not many other games offer that so why ad another 800 cars that will bring down the overal quality of the game? Just turn some of the really important standard cars to premium on the outside (about 50) and there will be one less reason to critisize PD. GT5 really scored high just for being "Gran Turismo" but I don't feel the reviewers wil be so forgiving this time around and good reviews do sell games.

Wonder if they have enough collected data from Standards for the new tyre and aero models.

That and the fact all new cars are premium means I'll spend little time with standards probably.

What all did PD tell about standards before GT5? I don't remember, but this time around they have said there won't be the same distinctions between the two - that basically standards are the same as premiums except less detailed exteriors (but at least generally improved from GT5) and the lack of detailed interiors. Upgrades will be available for most if not all cars unlike the handful of standards in GT5 that could add a wing. Wheels of course were a different story once PD patched them in. What else does PD need to say at this point?

That's not exactly what they said. "No functional differences" was one of the operative phrases meaning anything you can do with a premium you can do with a standard. Photo mode, spoilers, splitters etc. And they also said the "worst of the standards" were upgraded, but did not say how many that was or how far they were upgraded.

If there is a car I am interested in and wanted to drive and learn how it feels like in GT, I buy it and drive it, whether it is Premium or Standard.

For example I was intrigued with the Holden Commodore SS when it came to the OCD, so I bought it and gave test runs around Eiger Norwand. I was really satisfied with it. I also use the Hyundai Clix Concept for PP 500 races, it's a good contender because it's a really fast FF chassis car in the league, perfect for tight courses.

That's true, I am generalizing a bit, but that is kind of the point. We don't know exactly to what extent things have been improved. That will become known once the game is out. I would love to see all the cars get the premium treatment, but for now I will take steps in the right direction - namely, full functionality and availability (at least that much appears to have been addressed) and getting rid of those jaggies!

I drove for the most the race car standards (Vertigo, Esperante, CLK LM....), because I were holding a championship specially for FIA race cars. :) I also tried many of the standards and also premiums. I'm the guy that always collects every car in the game in a possible way. :mischievous: Same I will do with GT6. (I will hold more events with friends :embarrassed:).

I could not possibly 'Exclusively Premium' because there are so many amazing cars that remain standard in GT6. The Auto Union V16 Type C Streamline '37 is back so that means I will have to try standard.

despite I really like this 6 machines (Viper team oreca, dodge viper gtr-s concept, bmw m3 gtr, escudo pikes peak,TM zz-II, Abt tt-r and much more) I can not go them with if they are standards, I mean the PS2 exclusives ended in 2006 or 2007 so I will only play with premium cars

I was planning on mostly driving premiums in GT5 until I bought a yellow TVR V8S from the UCD and fell in love with it. I probably drove standards more often just because of the huge selection.

It is still annoying having PS2 cars but I'm glad we have them over nothing I guess. Hoping the improvements in GT6 are substantial but still without having interiors they stick out like a sore thumb. I honestly thought they wouldn't return in GT6 after the huge uproar they caused.

I don't like so much drive standard cars, because I like to watch the replay after a race, but I have a few standard cars in my favorite list, like the Alfa 155 touring car, the GT40 lightblue or the Suzuki Escudo :drool::drool::drool::drool:

If I drive a car that has a black cardboard as cockpit I just don't feel like I'm driving it, 'cause from the inside it looks basically just like any other standard (of course there's sound and car behavior, but visual completes immersion). I never drive using bumper cam or 3rd person view so a detailed interior is mandatory to me.
