I just hope you could still ghost. I could care less if there's not a proper online drag mode. Hope we still have Indy-road course.

I like Ghost as it is, as to lights if having those lights for tree will be boring and will cut out your reaction, only problem with ghost will be flag or ghost lag and who got the better internet ping,

I thought I was going crazy for a minute, but I guess my Thread got merged here.

I would like for there to be drag racing. 1/8 is to short for me. I don't like driving for 5 seconds then stopping. 1/4, mile, and 3000km would be good.

Just be patience. We all know PD announces content unexpected.
Really? Care to give an example?

The way I recall it is that they usually announce tons of stuff that never makes it into the game. Drag racing was announced to be in GT2, GT3 and GT4, but we still haven't had any of it.

EDIT: Oh, and it's not as if they have to go crazy about it either. A proper drag strip on which we can drag race online is enough. A dial-in system and perhaps drag slicks would be a much welcome bonus, but not necessary.

The day PD announced Gran Turismo 6 on may. Nobody wasn't expecting that announcement on may. Everybody thought it will be announced June on E3. And there's always delays for the Gran Turismo series. But Sony guarantees there customers not for gt6.

You are right on this. I've never expected PD to actually go and announce GT6 on May at Silverstone. Same goes for Goodwood, nobody expected PD to announce that either, they're just full of surprices. :)

Also don't have it like forza! I don't like having a timer count down when I can't even control the car! Idk how people play like that. I hated it!

This. It needs to be full on but it doesn't have to be hardcore.

We need:
  • A proper drag strip.
  • A functional Christmas tree.
  • Online drag racing tournaments.

This would be neat:
  • Drag wheels and tires.
  • E.T. bracket racing and ability to set your own dial-in.

We don't need:
  • Career drag races.
  • Dragsters or any kind of full blown drag cars.

I'm still waiting for Sonoma Raceway to make a return to the franchise, In which case the drag strip at that facility would be perfect. It beats me why it was not usable in GT4.

I agree.

Actual drag cars can come later, first we need the racing style implemented properly. Otherwise it's pointless to have them (*cough GT2 *cough). :)

No, I will not drag race. I believe racing is about cornering. I have tried to get in dragracing, but I just can't enjoy it.

For me there's nothing better then getting that perfect apex after breaking as late as possible and put your foot down as soon as possible.

Did you tune your cars correctly?

Damn right I will drag race. My favorite type of racing personally.

Anyone remember the HKS drag car in GT2?

I would drag race if they included this car from portland, OR!

Amazing!

They really need a better gearbox/clutch model to make drag racing really worth it. Being able to put in consistent quick shifts at exactly the right time is half the skill. Just timing a button click isn't really the same.

I like it how it is now, I like having the different shift points on the different cars because each car has a different clutch and gearbox.

You don't think it would be better if you needed to use a manual clutch (on cars where appropriate) instead of the generic super-fast quasi-double-clutch setup every car has by default now? If there was some skill involved in changing gear and a chance to actually mess it up and cost yourself some time if you did it wrong?

Drag racing in GT5 is so simplified. Not that it's easy, but that there's a whole lot of aspects that don't even come into it. Shifting. Keeping the car straight and true from launch. Tyre pressures and heat.

Drag racing can be a fine art, but GT5 has it so that there's not really any skill in *doing* it, if you know what I mean. You're manipulating two buttons, one of which requires some finesse at the beginning and then is simply held, and the other is pure timing. It might as well be a rhythm game, and real drag racing couldn't be further from that. The skill in GT5 is only in finding the right setups, launch revs and shift points. Again, not that it's easy but it's missing a whole layer of complexity that could be there.

I can accept that some people enjoy it the way it is. Simplified. It's easy to get into and have a good time. It'd just be nice if the driver made a bit more difference, and there's a lot of areas in which that could be done.

Who are you and why post on here then?

Going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess he's answering the question in the OP and expressing his opinion about drag racing.

EDIT: Imari said it better than me above.

Okay so I have been involved in drag racing for about 5-6months now, I have been in a team for 4 months and I have at least 30 cars in the top 5 times, yet you guys are trying to tell me what's up……
