Per the request of EDK, this thread is a look at how drafts from about the past five or so years have ended up. What players were able to adapt and succeed on the NFL level? What players haven't made too much positive progress? Which ones just didn't translate well or really show their full prowess?

Winners

Atlanta - M Ryan 👍

Baltimore - J Flaco 👍

Miami - J Long

Minnesota - A Peterson

Houston - M Williams

Losers

Oakland - J Russel 👎

Oakland - McFadden 👎

Kansas City - G Dorsey

New Orleans - R Bush

Arizona - M Lienart

Tennessee - V Young

Ultimate draft fail: Ryan Leaf.

Another couple winners:
Ben Roethlisberger
Larry Fitzgerald
Philip Rivers

A questionable one for me has to be the 2008 Dolphins draft. Brady Quinn reminds (reminded) me of Peyton Manning, so I thought it would've been epic to have him on our team. Tedd Ginn still isn't elite, but then again it took Larry Fitzgerald a little while to settle in too. At least we got John Beck. I still think he is a great QB, but he sucked during his starts because our O-line was still garbage. I think the QB spot should be solid between Pennington, Henne, and him, though.

And how about trade losers? I think we messed up by sending Wes Welker to New England. We did get Philip Merling in the draft (another winner with time, imo) out of it, though. Hopefully Devon Bes will grow to be even better than Welker. Welker was wide open on every single play that I saw him play. Pennington + Welker would've been a deadly duo this year. We all know how deadly he was with Tom Brady.

But don't forget, Welker could return kickoffs too.

Todd Marinavich, Brian Bosworth, and yes, Brett Favre in a Falcons jersey.

Jerry Rice was drafted by the then-champs 49ers...so he was picked last in the 1st round of the 1985 draft. Everyone slept on him, for one reason or another, even though he broke all sorts of records in college.

Fixed that for you.

Ted Ginn is still no OJ McDuffie, let alone able to carry the Marks Brothers' Gatorade cups. But, he showed lots of improvement with Pennington, and you could see him actually grabbing and trying for the ball in a tight spot, rather than just waiting for it to be perfectly thrown to him. He still needs to be able to shake a tackle on occasion, though.

Nick Saban greased the wheels of that trade before leaving...although to be honest, he was more of a fan-favorite in a Dolphins uniform, rather than a potential Pro Bowl-er. Fans liked his ability to make good on third-down plays, for getting right back up after taking a hard hit on catches/returns, and still trying 110% for a play that had no chance.
