Witcher 3

Looks like there's a new driver for Witcher, so I'll get that installed and if the huge performance hit settles down.

In the mean time, here's some pics, all 1920x1080 on medium setting at 66 Avg. FPS:

Looks very nice. Cant wait to see it once your rig is running this game on max settings.

@Pako Also after looking at that last pic a few times it looks like your character is indeed releasing air pressure.

Still not sure why this thread does not show up for me in "Console and PC gaming".
Edit nevermind I figured it out. The host of the thread is on my ignore list. I clicked "show ignored content". Then it showed the host is on my ignore list. Makes perfect sense now. :sly:

Can't seem to find a way to find take screenshots :indiff:

I'm on the GOG version, so no Steam Overlay... And MSI Afterburner's screenshot option doesn't do squat. A pity, the games looks so beautiful at times that I really want to share it.

Yeah, I'm on GOG version too (mostly for those bonuses).

Steam Overlay on the Steam version of the game is....buggy. It works sometimes and other times, it doesn't.

I bought Witcher 3 for PS4 on tues. Its awesome. Graphics are pretty amazing good for a large open world RPG on PS4. Defeated the Royal Griffin and the noonwraith in the devil at the well quest all at level 2-3.

I've just moved to velen where you play Ciri.

I'm guessing you can go back to White Orchard if there are still mission or side quests to complete? right?

Because at White Orchard I was trying to find the quest or the book that teaches a witcher how to properly dismember creatures so I can use their body parts to make potions. In particular its the drowner brain I need.

Currently when I kill them I can't take their body parts.

This game is stunning! I'm on PC running 780Ti's in SLi and still can't run it max. Have had to knock down grass density and distant foliage to get a solid 60 fps at 1440p but even so it's just beautiful. I v'e hardly touched the main quest at the moment, just been exploring and doing all the other stuff you can do. So much to learn and so much fun. I haven't touched PCars since I got it, that's how good it is!

This game is so fantastic. Words can't describe. Can people here share the things to do things to see find out or collect. Because there is so much to do that I'm finding it hard to take it all in. There might be things I overlooked. Like treaure or finding books and making money. Also not sure whether to sell trophies for money. I think the game expects you to keep things like skulls and certain collectibles.

I think we should all post cool things we find in game. Also I saw this posted on another forum from Kotaku http://kotaku.com/tips-for-playing-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-1705588522

Dunno, I kept slaughtering Drowners and randomly found their brains. Never did anything specific that enabled me to find those brains.

Some good advice there! Especially this bit:
Kotaku
Start Talking Like Geralt In Real Life
After a while, you’ll develop an ear for Geralt’s husky speech patterns. Start talking like he does in real life. Charmingly grunt your way through your orders at the cafe down the street. Grumble at your roommates like a big, scary cat. Sink into the role. Love it, live it.
Geralt is awesome AF, so that's definitely something worth trying

Picked it up on PS4 with the expansion pass.

Hopefully might get a bit of time with it tonight.

I took those screenshots with FRAPS.

I did notices some screen freezes in the inventory screens when FRAPS was running though so I don't leave it on.

So, new patch is out. It supposedly reduces the performance hit from HairWorks considerably. Don't know, still not worth running, as far as I am concerned. Makes my game drop below 60 FPS still (at 1080p) and I like that better than slightly fancier hair.

Taking it slow with my playthrough (on Blood and Broken Bones), I just stumbled into the second area. Dang, I thought the game was big before, but it's frggin' mahoosive!

Played a tad last night around the first village. Really enjoying it. Trying to steal as much as possible and collect as much free wild stuff too.

I'm now his trying to get to Lvl 2 and finding all the ? Before moving on with the main quest.

It is a very big map and this is just for starters. Does anyone have any tips for some cash?

God this game is so beautiful and atmospheric. The change of lighting as the sun crosses the sky is amazing. Quickly took this shot this morning but the picture doesn't do it justice.

Interesting about the patch reducing the hit from hairworks, it's basically the only setting I've got off to maintain 60 fps @ 1440p. I love the look of it when it's on but I lose 15fps which I'm not prepared to lose so if this patch reduces the hit to acceptable levels I'll be a happy man.

Yeah, it looks fantastic. I don't quite get why people bemoan the supposed graphics downgrade. First off, it's stunningly beautiful, not only due to the technical side of things, but due to the art style and design. Second, the game's requiring considerable hardware as is - getting even more eye candy out of it, what's that gonna require? Tri-SLI 980s?

Still went from a steady 60 FPS to about 50 with HairWorks on. Better than the 40 - 45 I got before the patch, but still not worth it, imho. Gotta be honest, I don't see what the big deal is with HairWorks. The difference is marginal at best and I'm definitely not going sacrifice 10+ FPS for it.

If only the game wasn't crashing like mad as soon as I overclock my GPU, I might be able to push 60 FPS with HairWorks on, but the way it is... No chance :indiff:

Ok done a few things now.

finished all the side quests and main quest at White Orchard. Killing the Gryffin to finish was very nice. I really preferred the side quest with the Noonwraith as it had a nicely written and tragic story behind it.

I don't like the current grind to get cash to repair stuff then paying to dismantle things etc. seems a little over the top. Surly a man of the world and getting on for 100 years old he knows how to break items down etc. I feel this is going to get very expensive when getting much better items.

It will and will not, without spoiling much

Ohh sodding heck. I'm glad I like the game enough to push on.

On other news. Farming exploit has been found in the game for infinite money of sorts.

Find cows, kill cows, loot cows, meditate 2 hours and repeat. This effectively let you sell lots of loot which re-spawns and you don't get in to trouble for.

They are looking to patch this issue soon, so if your the kind of gamer who likes loot caves etc this is your golden ticket for the time being.

Killing and looting cows seems way too boring to exploit, IMHO  granted, I'm a little broke so there's some temptation to exploit my way to 500 crowns to buy the stuff I need in order to craft a new sword...

Either way, had to take my SSD out to... It's faulty so I gotta get a new one. Managed to back my Witcher save up. Was at level 4, that's hours of gameplay

I'm at level 3 or 4 too. Haven't had chance to play it last couple days. In white orchard I must say the royal griffin was really hard and took a few goes to kill. I didn't have enough experience, skills or upgraded armor or weapons. And my magic and potions are weak and still at the level of starting the game. I'm still using the same steal and silver sword and armor with which you start the game with. I took all the swords and loot from the dead men in the field of the battle and went back for them so I could sell them to the dude at white orchard to make a bit of coin. I still haven't much money. Not sure how much it will cost to upgrade my armorment and weapons. The noonwraith was so easy to defeat with the Yrden.

I'm at level 4 too. I'm at Velen now but I might have to do some serious quest-hunting/grinding since the quests at Velen require much higher levels. One bandit one-hit killed me already lol.

Yeah, the griffin was pretty tough. I was close to dying a couple of times.

My OCD is kicking in hard. Just under Level 4 myself and haven't even left the first town. I need to "read the note you found" to finish the second part of a treasure hunt side quest but I have no note to read that triggers an event.

My only guess is that I sold the note to a vendor by mistake. I am now searching for vendors to buy back my note that I need to read. UGH! It's the last side quest before moving onto the next town. I may have to just forget about it, but it's that nagging feeling that I finish it all that will keep me up at night. I guess there's always a second run through, or should I just restart the game now? Oh the struggles. :)

You would think that quest items would be protected. Oh well. Be careful what you discard.

Yeah, I absolutely refused to sell anything that might be related to a quest until I had no side quests left  felt pretty safe at that point.

How do I level up to craft things? I have tried to craft materials to craft armour but it says my crafting level is too low... How do I level up my crafting skill if I can't craft basic materials? What am I missing?

@Pako I was level 4 and a half when I finished White Orchard.

I also dont sell anything unless I have multiple items of the same thing. I'm trying to keep to 10 of each and sell anything over that. I didnt know you could sell story Items.

I cant stress enought to others who are struggeling to level up, go a visit all the ? on the map and also view the notice boards in the townships and get the sidequests. In White Orchard there is a quest which I found much better than the main story.

Exactly! I had cleared all the question marks. Searching online it appears I am a victim of a glitch. Apparently the letter just disappears out of inventory. Unless I missed one of the camps, which I'm pretty sure I got them all, I will have to leave it as unfinished. Ugh.

Yeah, finishing White Orchard bumped me to to about level 4.5 as well. Lot of experience they give you for that one. :)

Must be a bug in the PC version as I've not had it myself. As far as I could tell I was 100% in White Orchard.

I was surprised (in a pleasant way) with how they lay out the game at the beginning. As WO is still basically a tutorial on how to play the story before letting you loose in the larger world. You get some nice gear and a chance to play around with all the games mechanics before clapping eyes on the world map which is crazy big.

I have the "Read the note" issue. If you found the note it would be in the key items part of the Inventory. It is apparently a known bug. As well as that there is a locked chest I can't open. I may have to visit all the bandit camps and use my Witcher Sense.

Had a strange one on loading the game... no Crossbow. I'd killed the Griffin by then, so should have had it. Even stranger was the fact it was there later!

There do seem to be some bugs around the game.

I am playing on the PS4.

If you've killed the Gryffin before completing the side quests then this maybe why you don't have the letter now. Some side quests get locked out and you can't complete them once you've progressed the story too far.
