Now you tell me heh.

I actually threw out a lap because of that same issue. Fortunantly I managed to get some much faster sure clean laps.

Tend to aggree as well, it can be very difficult to tell if the car nudges the wall or not sometimes.

Yeah its geared toward those really REALLY close calls, so if its truly hard to tell, then we'll allow it.

New WRC spits:
Forward -
T1 - 0'17.845 T2 - 0'34.630 (saw a 34.386, but I oversteered that next sweeper, D'OH!)
Reverse -
T1 - 0'12.113 T2 - 0'29.138 (saw a 28.788, but shot myself in the foot)
Eventhough this car is much faster than my others, its also harder to get clean laps.

And now some action!

Trepitation

Make it so #1

"Hey, lets try pissing on the next car that comes by!"

STi on it

Does this wing make by butt look fat?

It sure does.

Racing towards the finish and a bathroom break.

Because Kolyana liked it.

Niiiiiice pictures 'Fox ;)

I did not enjoy my racing this evening ... found it far too infuriating, so I'm going to call it a night and come back at it in a couple of days.

Some minor improvements:

WRC: Forward
19.017 / 37.521
WRC: Reverse
12.818 / 30.763

Historic: Forward
19.652 / 38.230
Historic: Reverse
13.245 / 31.772

If the Peugeot 206 wasn't such a sexy beast, I'd seriously consider walking away from this one with my head held low (the only reason I'm here to to learn something about rallying!), but everytime I hear that 206 turbo clicking away, I melt all over again.

Now ... hints and tips time ... what the hell do I do with those two hairpins in the middle of the track, especially in reverse (where they seem to tighten?) Aside from the obvious "slow down and turn around them), any hints on HOW to do this optimally?

Hug the heck out of the inside line and don't get heavy on the throttle until you're almost entirely clear... that's how I've been doing those anyway.

One of the best suggestions I have is to visualize where you want the car to be before you even get to the next corner. Like, look behind that wall in front of you and see the line ahead.

This course has no room for preferance, there is one line that you need to stay on. If you focus on staying on the line first, then going fast second, the lap time's will start to improve.

As far as tunning goes, try setting the shocks low as well, everything low and soft seems to be a good way to go.

Personally (I'm probably doing it wrong), how I'm doing it is....Lets say the hairpins are perfect 180s, I start outside, then slide quite early, so when I reach the corner, I'm perpendicular to the straight, and facing the apex front on. Then the natual tendency, at least for my car, is to oversteer under thottle, so just before you reach the corner, if you use slight thottle the car 'should' slowly slide itself around. I'm really doing this for all the corners, lots of counter steer doesn't really work for me.

I find if just race into a corner, brake and turn, then try to power out with full opposite lock, you just end up backwards, in a wall, or out of position.

Hope this was helpful

Sorry for the delay guys my cpu has a virus so I'll update the board now and it may be a day or so until the next one, depending on how quickly I get 'er done.

EDIT: LB Updated. And Max, u keep pullin' away from me in our Historic car here, great job! That car is the most challenging to control out of my bunch, then the Eclipse. The Lancer's are FAR easier to control especially my Super'man' Car.

That's pretty much the main reason I decided against the Clio. That car just requires an entirely different driving strategy like you stated.

On the majority of the cars I've ran on the course, I've found that you really can't flick the car through the corner like you'd want to. The car just won't slow down enough when it's sliding sideways and most of the time I'll end up bumping against the outside wall on the exit of the corner.

What I usually end up doing on the sharper corners line the chicanes before the two hairpins is I'll aim the car for an early apex. Once I get close to the corner I'll tap the brakes hard while turning into the corner to get the front end to bite and make the rear end slide out. Then I gently apply power to oversteer the car around the corner and get it pointing to the line I want to take for the next corner. Then it's a full throttle blast to the next corner where the process repeats.

I'll have to see if I can get a video of it up sometime soon.

As for a driving line here, u NEED it TIGHT around the corners. Because this track is so small and all your power in your car comes from the low end torque, a lot of drifting is not recommended (except for the 2 longer sweeper turns). But the back to back haripins I take my front tires and run it right alongside the inside of the turns. I was going to make a video of each car on my site, but I dunno if I - wait! LOL...this is my last week in the WRS WOOT!!! I'll actually have the time to make a video for each car sweet! So come Sunday I'll have my vid's posted on my site. Dunno why I JUST realized that...o well. A second tip, I would like to build on what Fox was saying about looking ahead, I call it anticipation. For this track car position is FAR more important than overall speed because speed will send u straight into a wall. So anticipate the next turn and concentrate on getting the car EXACTLY how u want it positioned for a clean and SMOOTH EXIT.

I don't know if I'll be able to do all 4 cars every week but I'll do my best. I broke my DFP and I suck even more in rallye with a controller. No new times to post.

Hey Max I'm gonna have to ask that you take off that video replay. I dont want anyone to know final times or anything like that. But what you can do is post the replays once the results are posted here. Sorry but I want to keep some mystery here. Thx. But it looks great tho!

Jerome

Sure thing, Jump. That's pretty much the reason I edited the videos to cut out early, but I can see your point that it can still be estimated. :)

I'm off for another run. I'll be back with some (hopefully) better stuff soon...

Argh!

Just ran an 18.0 / 35.1 for Historic Forward, but it has a tiny little tap on the exit of the final chicane :banghead:

Geeez.....the GT-R I am driving in open 4WD is soo not suited to ice........ i always bump the walls with the rear....... damn.......anyone knows a good setup?

Okay, got a run done for 4wd Open on the Reverse Course

T1: 12.941 (saw a .542)
T2: 30.386

:D

I did a few laps in my WRC SUV and it looks like my Historic SUV is going to put up a pretty good fight in the battle of the SUVs. :dopey:👍

WRC: Mitsubishi Pajero Rally Raid Car '03

Forward: 18.854 - 36.710

Rev. 12.890 - 31.238

Any help with the settings Luxy? I'm struggling with the RS200.

Hey Ben,

Here're the settings I'm using (my car's stock, 442 hp in the small graph):

Springs: 6/6
Ride: 85/85
Bound: 5/5
Rebound: 5/5
Camber: 2.0 / 1.0
Toe: 0/0
Stabs: 4/4
Gears: auto 7 (stock, I think)
Brakes: 4/2
DF: Max
LSD Initial: 5/5
LSD Accel: 10/10
LSD Decel: 5/5
VCD: 45
Aids: Off (obviously :P )

I've seen 17.9 T1's, but that's my personal best T2. I can do a little write up in morning if anyone would like :)

Thanks a ton Luke, I'm totally new at this rally/snow stuff. In fact, this weekend was the first time I've actually tried a hotlap on a rally track :nervous: When we return to tarmac I'll be sure to return the favor with any help I can give 👍

Hey Thx guys! I JUST got windows put back on my cpu, I coulnt tell exactly what files it affected and by my system log the file had been dormant for 6 months so my current ghost hard drives were no good.... :ouch: So give me anothe rday or so and I"ll be back to normal. Luxy has a good setup there it looks like. Top notch everyone on the continous improvements being made. Just wait til next week...lol. I JUST thought of a name for next week too. Kinda geeky, but then again, look at the source...lol. Laters LadIeZ and GentZ!

No problem. I'm sure you'll make me regret it :P

I'm pretty new at the tuning part, although I've played with the RS200 on Chamonix a lot in arcade mode, just for fun. I got burned out on WRS and what not a while back, and just wanted a change. I've been waiting for a good rally comp since :)

Best advice I can give is to stay tight to the inside everywhere, and to be careful with the throttle, even in a straight line (I've only got the throttle about 75% coming out of each hairpin, because if you go 100%, you spin the wheels, shift too early, and the turbo lag kills you).
