"Test drive lobby"?

Last year, before I joined GTP, I was in a Nürburgring lobby with several British players who were playing a game they came up with called "Test drive." Basically, everyone drives the same car and they all have to keep up with the lead car, who can't exceed a certain speed. The people behind can go as fast as they want to catch up, but can't pass the leader.

Is this what you are talking about?

-Kids ramming others with X1's
-Excessive swearing
-People just parking their cars for hours along the track
-Getting kicked because of my flag
-A good room that unfortunately abuses Sport Soft tires or even worst, racing Soft Tires.
-Excessively tuned cars everywhere
-And when I join a room with educate people who race clean and we end up having a blast, then we all get kicked out of the server after just two beautiful shuffle races and the room disappears for good.

So moral of the story: Look for good people online and add them as friends. That's what I do
now and I have hours of fun.

Yesterday we spent hours racing only with Mercedes A160's. All limited to stock PP, so it all depended on who had the best suspension and transmission setup.

Just more reasons for my lack of faith in people

Joined a Nurburgring free run lobby. I proceeded to bring out my Lancer Evolution IV GSR and was greeted with a fully tuned Mazda MX-5 NC and a slightly tuned Audi TT Quattro '03. It was a game of cat-and-mouse as we switched positions numerous times and had a few hiccups here and there. In the end we were having a fun time. Then the host types "For newcomers, this is a testdrive lobby. Some will be kicked automatically." Without further adieu, half of the lobby was rejected including me, for no apparent reason. Some of you might know who I'm on about, but sadly I cannot share his/her name.

I think I joined this server, I left quickly though. I do not understand why people have to invent new games to play.

Well, they likely got bored with GT5 because it feels kinda empty after a while. It's fun to try new things and use your imagination.

Car soccer is not implemented in GT5, but people still play it (although it is difficult to organize).

Look at all of the cops lobbies there are. Are there any actual cop cars or a real cops mode in GT5? No. But people still play that mode.

People play tag, but its not an actual gamemode in GT5.

I'm not trying to argue with you, but its fun when the community comes up with things the developers never intended to do with the game.

I agree it is fun to come up with new things but personally, what bothers me is that nearly every server is a cop lobby or some other sort of new idea. Even though there is nothing wrong with this, It can be difficult finding a normal track day lobby which is not at the ring, or some new idea.

Sadly no. This lobby I'm on about takes random people and cruise around Nurburgring. You cannot pass anyone, and if you ram someone, you are kicked afterwards, even if it's an accident.

So... if you're in a Ford GT and you're stuck behind a stock Fiat 500 F '68... Crap.

ZDUPH
and if you ram someone, you are kicked afterwards, even if it's an accident.

That's a bit harsh.

Absolute ********.

I have not seen a dumber idea in the history of humanity, dinosaurs or dolphins.

We need a Facepalm emoticon on GTP.

That's a bit harsh.

I recall being in a similar lobby with identical rules. Just to troll everyone (the host was being an idiot), I brought out a stock Mazda carol (the cute little 18hp 4 door from the 60s). I had a friend there get behind me to "camouflage" me. We all lined up, the host typed "Slowest car first. Go!". Needless to say, a few backed out and had a few harsh things to say. One person was laughing uncontrollably on the mic. It was an amazing time of constant horns, swearing, and light-flicking. Ever wanted to see a Veyron go only 19mph up a hill? That was the time to be there.

I like the sound of that! I'd love it even if I was in an X1! :D

Edit: moooooooore tail-gaters.

Was in my Autozam (weird sounding piece of cheese :D) when some guy in his Mercedes SLR (silver chrome, black wheels- sorta respectable in the reasoning that it was supremely brushed aluminium) decided I needed help getting above 200 mph. I do 135 mph tops and I'm proud of it! Now if you wouldn't mind going away...

I love the AutoZam. Reminds me of a hamster on wheels.

I was in a stock Life Step Van going a blistering 62mph on Nordschleife. I looked behind me and saw a fast-approaching orange car. I moved to the side, and instead of him going by, he rammed me straight off. The orange car...was an X2010. Going from 60-ish mph to 240mph is a very harsh transition indeed. I barely managed to keep the car from spinning. I looked back and saw him spinning wildly. I laughed and drove off on my merry way. :)

So... yesterday in a drift lobby at Suzuka East, I had quite the experience.

WARNING! MASSIVE WALL OF TEXT AND SARCASM AHEAD!

This one fine, respectable, highly educated gentleman was drifting in his 5727cc Corvette ZR1. Said fine, respectable, highly educated gentleman hit my RUF BTR as I was going around the competition section. Thankfully, the lobby was doing full laps, not the section only. So, after this happened, I typed in chat something along the lines of "*******, why did you hit me?"

This respectable gentleman replied with "b.ite me. im speed driftin"

I then exited the track momentarily, hovered over his username with my cursor, and I found they were using racing medium tires. I am unsure whether they were using an automatic transmission, but they probably were.

Now, I do not have a problem with people using different tires than other people use. I actually respect people that drift on all tire types. But if you joined a drift lobby and noticed the tires everyone else is using, could you please have the courtesy to use tires in the same class? With racing tires, you have to go twice as fast as comfort tires to drift. While I was doing 40-50 through turns, the Corvette on racing tires was probably doing 80 MPH.

Back to the story, a little while later, I got bored of the BTR and switched to my Fiat 500 F '68. I proceeded to ghost the car and drift it. I got a few laughs from some people in the lobby. A few minutes after, the fine, respectable, highly educated gentleman had finally did the ghost glitch to his Corvette. He would no longer cause anymore chaos to the other participants in the lobby.

I was minding my own business and he flies through me and lands in a sand pit. I pass by him, honking my horn and flashing my lights at him. He types "theres a fiat drifting and i wanna hit him but hes ghosting lol."

Later, I typed in chat "Why speed drift when you can drift Fiats?" This must have angered him because he once again, he replied with "b.ite me".

When he got disconnected and rejoined the lobby, his entry comment said "3rd leader of SPEED DRIFTERS". I'm sure this team is very well-managed

TL;DR, some jackass in a ZR1 with racing tires acts like... a jackass. And I drift a Fiat!

Don't you dare quote this entire post.

^Oh, I just thought of one.

Tonight on Top Gear:
I skid a Ford Focus, Dan drifts a Fiat 500, and some moron crashes in a Corvette ZR1.

I was in the same dirty room as usual with the same host as usual with one of my team mates in the room. My team mate won 3 races in a row, I finished second 3 races in a row. All is well untill some random person who said he just retired claimed that me and my team mate were both in hacked cars (neither of us know how to hack or have any hacked cars.)
So he says to kick me and my team mate. The host refused since he has been racing with me and my team mate for over a year. So the guy who falsely accused my team of hacking got some of his friends into the room just to reject vote the host.
He became the host and kicked me and my team mate. Grumpy old man!:grumpy:

On tonight's program; Dan drifts BTRs, RandomCarGuy acts random, and I pull off horrible Top Gear jokes.

The seasonals are some of the most annoying things I've found online. It used to be just easy money, so you could crank up a car to the maximum and give it RS tires, and corner cut your way to victory.

Then they added tire restriction, thus ruining the easy money aspect. But hey, a good challenge once in a while, nothing wrong with that is there?

Except that they rarely use the standard CS/SS/RS tire restrctions. No, they do such things as CS at 500PP (which sounds like a crock, since comfort tires might as well be called "Look out! No brakes!") and SH a 600+. With the result that standardized online lobby tunes can't be used and you have to make special setups just for the seasonals. Some player preferred patterns are OK, and I think the use of __________ Soft tires is one of those. PD attempting to break this one is just irritating.

Got a fresh one. A guy claimed that his "2High4U" Beetle didn't roll over on its racing tyres. I challenged him to a lap of the 'Ring.

He rolled it on the first corner. I laughed like an idiot and left.

Currently in a Nurburgring lobby, someone is ramming with a Tank Car. Feel free to join and help out.
Disregard this he got rejected.

At least there was a zr1 that was causing problems because a x1 would cause a problems like ramming too.
