I just joined a drag lobby on Indy for the first time in a while and there's a bit of chaos.
There's all sorts of idiots here; one guy in a GT-R Black Mask sliding all over the drag race area, a x2011 messing around, and a Veyron ramming some of the players.

Oh my i was in the lobby and was kicked half an hour before you posted. It sounds similar. Everytime I tried to drag that (female dog) Veyron kept getting me. Damage was on so he complete damaged car. When I got my Gold Veyron out he got his GT out and damaged that so I got my x1 out and totalled his Veyron. The host then said i was being rude and when I said he did it to 2 of my cars he's accuse was its his friend and he doesn't like drag racers. ( Like why would you even bother hosting and join a drag race if you didn't like it) anyway I was kicked because I had damaged a car for no reason. Like WOW i am never going online again. When GT6 comes out I will never go online because when all the 8 year olds get it ( at Christmas because they don't earn money) then they will do stuff like join a drag race despite hating them

Well that sucks and what a complete pillock that guy is for hosting a drag race lobby and not hating it. That's like me hosting a lobby for hellaflush when I hate hellaflush. It would just be rediculous. Of course, I'm not giving up. No kid is going to stop me from racing my cars online, especially when GT6 comes out and I can race my Ford GT40 online against people on apricot hill at night.

Speaking of drag lobbies, I was just beaten by a good 1.5 seconds in my LMQ by a completely lowered Cuda which was supposedly completely legit and had a claimed potential 1/4 mile time of 7 seconds. (Yes, 7.)
...
It's science time.
Let's ignore work out the average acceleration required to get a Plymouth Cuda 440 to do that. Now, a 1/4 mile is just over 400m, so with the equation s = ut + 1/2at^2 where s = 400, u = 0 m/s and t = 7, we can say 400 = 1/2 * a * 49, hence a = 400/(49/2) = 16.3 (to 3 s.f.)
Stage 3 weight reduction on the Cuda gives you a mass of 1282 kg, so let's work out how much force is needed for an average acceleration of ~16.3 in a frictionless vacuum for an object of mass 1282kg with F = ma, which of course is F = 1282 * ~16.3, which comes to 20900N (again, to 3 s.f.).
Work done = Force * Distance, which comes to 8360000J, and Power = Work done/Time, which comes to 1190000W in our case here. I know that 1HP = around 1500W, so let's convert that power to HP, and we discover that our friend here requires a CONSTANT power of 796HP to perform his incredible feat. It is true that the Cuda, fully tuned, has 826HP (give or take, I could be looking at one without max power), but he's still getting around 95% efficiency from a loud American engine in 1971 (if his car is legitimate, of course). The average MODERN internal combustion engine gets an average of maybe 20% energy efficiency max...

... to be honest I could've just called him an idiot and moved on with my life, but where's the fun in that?

What about grip, wind resistance, etc?

Not trying to be an ass but 1 HP does not equal 1500W. It's the other way around. 1 kW or 1000W equals around 1.5 HP.

And yes, his Cuda was #hellahacked, the best a Cuda can do on a quarter mile is maybe 9.768 on this game, best that me or anyone else has got is 9.769. Timed with Route X. But you probably know that if you check the leaderboard on the site.

What about grip, wind resistance, etc?

Well, if we factor in the average pressure of a sunny day at the Indianopolis Race Circuit, which just so happens to be - nah, just kidding, I don't know what would happen if we did that.
The cheek of it was that when I was explaining to him that a Cuda would not wheelspin for a 1/4 mile and that a RWD drag tune would generally have a raised rear ride height and that there is NO WAY a Cuda can pull a 7.00 1/4 mile he denied everything with 'my tune is different' and just said 'how about u take ur loss like a man'.
And then later on after I left GT5's servers decided that I had connected to too many lobbies today (about 3) and I henceforth lagged out of every lobby I tried to join.
:grumpy:

Just joined a Rally server

Argued a bit...

Kid: Hey E21, what kinda car is THAT?
Me: It's a Nissan GTR...
Kid: how's it so fast?
Me: Power, low weight and short gearing.
Kid: I want it
Me: What'll you give me for it?
Kid: Nothing
Me: Yeah... No.
Kid: Why not?
Me: Well, I spent 34 hours tuning and tweaking this for the dirt racing, and the Tarmac as well. Plus it's worth something unlike your Focus...
Kid: This has 500 bhp mate
Me: This has 800.
Kid: I don't care
Me: Welp, you shouldn't care about not having it
Kid: Well I do
Me: Ah well. Tune one for yourself.
Kid: I'm getting my drift team on you!
Me: Bring it...

Still no drifting kiddies...

^^ All talk and no trousers.:) anyway what's the worst they can do? Caps lock you to death? I don't understand why some players ask for cars like the GTR or the LFA for example when, A: it's more simple to buy them from the dealership. B: It allows you to build and tailor the car to your specifications and style.

Yeah, I never ask or trade with anyone anymore. I also never ask for someone's car because it's tuned well (or ask in general), it seems pointless when I can just google search GT5 tunes or tune tutorials.

Another mention, remember that platnium lobby I entered a couple days ago?
well, I left out another thing from it:
I was driving down the mulsanne straight in my car and I kinda got distracted for a sec and then I see at the last second a ferrari 430 scuderia coming towards me and *WHAM*. I then try to park my car and the knucklehead is trying to hit me (I thought the guy was getting steamed at me for hitting him).

Me: Sorry about that
Him: It's okay, I wanted to hit you
Me; WHY?!
Him: For fun, lol. Sorry.
Me: um, alright then.

Random moment! XD I knew this username was a good choice.
Seriously though, I don't know why some people want to play GT5 to have a bumper car match. This is not the game for it. If you want to do that, go play Burnout or one of the new NFS games.

Kid: This has 500 bhp mate.

I keep joining you in lobbies where nothing bad is happening! Ugh! I added you so we could have some fun laughing at idiots.

Just left a lobby called "clean or kick".

It took 4 minutes for me to even get on the track because the host kept changing settings and a bunch of other stuff happened and we had to do a qualifying lap before doing the race or else kicked. Kinda strict, but alright.

Now the real reason why I wanted to complain again:

Well, the race took place on Tokyo Route 246 and we were all driving the same car: an Amuse 380RS Superleggera.

The race starts and inevitably; the really good drivers leave me and the other average (or horrible) drivers in the dust. I don't know about the pro's race, but the race I was in with the not so good drivers was not clean at all.

Lap one, there was an idiot (I'll call him Ian) trying to use me or the other guy near me as a brake, but hit the wall at the first corner, but he forgot that 'no collisions' were on and went through us. Ian tried repeating this a few more times at almost every corner of Tokyo. The only times he didn't try to ram me were when I wasn't near him. He got in front of me a couple times as I was playing Mr. Hesitant. By the end of the first lap though, I was creating a gap from him. Ian was horrible, he hit the wall at every corner basically.

Lap 2, Ian wasn't the only person to worry about. There was another guy (I'm calling him Leo). Leo rubbed against me at the first turn as I was coming in the corner from the outside. Leo was better than Ian, but still was a bit blehh. Now the real battle begins: we're at the big corner and Leo hits so he can go inside, but I don't go into the wall and easily recover and Ian has returned. At this point, I kicked it up a notch; I easily caught leo as he was slow in the fast s-turn area of the course, I'm now barreling down on him and I overtake him by the last tight turn as he went wide from braking late while I stayed inside. He was now chasing me on the straight and I constantly switch lanes so he can't draft me.

Lap 3; I was too hesistant in the first corner and Leo catches me coming in fast. He hits me, but I'm able to easily recover. His driving this lap was getting sloppy though, I was able to overtake him by the middle of the lap and gain a big gap between us.

At this point, I just tried to keep the fastest, clean line through the rest of the race and finish in 4th out of 8 positions. I'm not a good driver, but somehow there's people worse than me.

You're off by a factor of 2. 1 HP = 746 W.

Oh hush you. The point is that the guy was rather silly, a'ight?

And now my PS3 has gone back to 'hahahaha how do i even obtain an IP address' mode so I can't experience the joys of GT5 online... :(

I'm going Troll-Huntin' today. So I'll be on TGTT servers.

Wish me luck!

The Anti Troll Patrol has been long inactive, presumed shut down, but I never disappeared. So if you ever need backup, I'm on standby bud!

Now I'll just wait for the anti-patrol trolls LOL XD
Just kidding

Currently in a jdm cop lobby except not everyone is in a jdm car because the host has been afk the whole time I've been here.

Here's something funny. I was driving down a straightaway on Trial Mountain and an idiot in a Tank Car tries to swerve towards me, but easily misses and hits the redbull x2011 that was behind me and I just stopped and laughed. That's how to take down 2 birds with one stone.

AFK hosts are the scourge of Satan.

The jury's out on that, but at the same time it's also out on my way of thinking. :)AFK hosts can be a pain in the proverbial backside but so can Host's who are biased towards other players and/or also abuse the host privileges. Kicking a player who was breaking the rules of the lobby? Granted, that's fair. Kicking a player who proves the host wrong and deflates his ego? Not even remotely ok.

That's a fair point, but for the most part; AFK hosts are really bad things in my eyes. When the host is away, the Trolls troll :)

Haha I'm so making this my signature!

Glad you liked it :P

Well we can look at it this way. We both hate bad host's, just for entirely different reasons. :)

I usually say "When the host goes AFK, the trolls come out to play." I wonder how long it will be before somebody puts this in their signature...
