I was in a lobby last night with 2 other friends, when a friend of my friend(the host) comes in. We were at Lemans (circuit le sarthe) and when race started i luckly finessed my way through the dunlop turn in third place only to be smashed in the back and driven into the sand by this guy( i wish i could say his name but...) once i got straightened up got into another altercation with some guy in an underperforming car who didnt wanna relinquish his position so he tries to drive me into the wall. i finally pulled over to side and let both cars go by. The nxt race the same guy who wrecked me first time decides I must be a great candidate for wreckin and did it again. I eventually called him out.

So I enter a "Clean street legal 550pp" room at Spa.

I scroll down my garage to the 550pp section and the first car in the list of other 550pp cars is my newly aquired Nissan R390 Road car. The host tells me to use a road legal car, and I question that it IS a road car. He disagrees a while someone else is backing me up. So I browse my garage again down to the next car on my 550pp list, the HSC 03, another car I had only just got hold of. The host then compains that I am driving a concept. I think "Fine, I'll just drive the regular claptrap that everyone else does", and just as I'm about to exit, the host starts the race anyway.

I comment "I suppose you wouldn't want to see other cars like the NSX LM road car etc." and "I'm just trying out new cars that I haven't driven yet".

As the race starts, I go around the far outside of the first corner and pass several people who are slipping, sliding and wheelspinning. There's 3 of us going wide heading towards Eau Rouge and despite nosing ahead of the other 2, I back out, only to be rammed half way up Eau Rouge at full force by someone not even attempting to get around the bend. A little later, the same guy brake checks me to stop me passing and I get penalised yet again, now sitting very firmily in last place.

Through the race 3 lap race, squeeky clean I make into 2nd place without so much as touching anyone else, passing the host along the way. Within moments, the host attempts to ram me off of the track but ghosts through me. So instead, he rage quits and kicks me out. The funny thing is, I'm 99% sure he's a regular poster around these forums.

That sucks, could you send me the name through PM so that I know how to look out for.

The R390 is essentially the cheater car of road cars. There's a reason it dominates any street car seasonal event. Lobby hosts prohibit it to force a variety of vehicles on the track. Anything with "Concept" in the name is never considered a street car and I don't think they are eligible for the seasonal events. Best thing to do when you enter a public lobby is to actually drive the "regular claptrap" everyone else is. That way you will never be accused of choosing a cheater car.

As for the alleged ram and boot. It could very well be that you were lagging on everyone else's screen and what appeared to be a clean pass on your screen was in fact a lag punt or side swipe on his screen. People are very quick to accuse other drivers of wrong doing but sometimes it is just the game.

Hate it when hosts can't see somethings an accident. I was in a JGTC room on Monza, about 8 of us, I made it into the chicane 4th but could see 5th had a better line so let him through. Then coming up to the 2nd chicane I saw a window down the inside, it was narrow but I'm ambitious and decided to go for it, however someone else had other ideas and as I went for it he pulled out. Luckily I had gone through a can of Red Bull just before the race so my reactions were quick, so I broke and turned left (into the grass, foolishly) to avoid him, this sent me into a spin and I gracefully slid back onto the track in front of everyone. Now anyone else could see this was an accident but ooo no, Mr Host went ape ball on me using racist slurs that I didn't know existed, I even said sorry to everyone involved. he kicked me and prompted to throw hate mail at me for another 30 minutes before I got bored and blocked him.

I'm guilty of being pissed at people for what turned out to be someone else's fault. It happens in real life racing as well so there's not much you can do about it. Often the car that gets the worst of an accident wasn't even involved in the initial altercation.

As a host, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but when you don't know them, it's easy to make a quick judgement. I have a group of 5-10 regulars but when the room fills up with pubbers on top of my regulars, all it takes is one complaint by a regular to get booted. Even if it's not that person's fault, I err on the side of caution to keep the regulars happy.

Of course when I boot someone, I usually say "sorry, this is a clean lobby and i've heard complaints. Better luck next time"

This is where a lot of hosts could do better, your example above is an excellent way to boot someone but there's far too many that boot without explanation and, unless the situation warrants immediate booting, a lot of angst & hate mail can be prevented with a quick explanation.

Yet another reason why private lobbies are better

I appreciate the view that the R390 is a "Cheat" car, even if it does fit into the specifications, hence why I asked the host if he would ban other similar cars and informed him I was simply testing out my new rides. He never replied, he also never gave me the chance to pick a "normal" car. He never had a problem with there being 5 NSX's in an 8 person room either, or that he was using an Evora, notorious for being dominant in that PP range. Regarding the seasonals, often they have been based on BHP and weight, rather than PP, which is where the R390's downforce come in. In a PP room, it's a lot more restricted if you choose the high aero option.

There was no possible way for me to lag punt him, as he took a sideways detour off the circuit while he was several car lengths ahead. It was a few corners afterwards at the end of a fast straight where he decided to try and punt me off, and ghosted through me.

I suppose the difference is, is that whenever I'm hosting a room and I have specific rules, I inform people as they enter the room. At the same time, I also give everyone a chance to select and tune their car, and give second chances to punters by giving them a warning first. There are different ways of handling things.

I understand...but you still can't rule out a lag punt just because he was several car lengths ahead. I've seen cars jump much further on the track, punt someone then bounce back to where they belong. The driver with the lag sees it as the other driver just missing their brake zone.

...but in the end, there is always another lobby to find.

That reminds me, I have a pictures of a Dodge Viper crashing from the sky, with the front half of the car disappearing into the ground and the wheels blowing off........ No seriously, that's actually happened online and I'm should get around to uploading it later, along with the video of said Viper somersaulting along at 190mph.

Never saw the wheels seperate from the cars before, must be one helluva glitch.

I entered a "Classic Muscle cars @ Nurb" room. I thought, "cool, classic American cars, great idea!" However, I was kicked for actually being American. :(

I didn't know that Canadians were capable of being racist.

I encountered the most arrogant person I've ever raced on GT5 last night. I was hosting a room, 500 PP street cars on sports soft tires, there were 6 or 7 people in the room, so this guy comes in after a few races and promptly beats us by a 10 second lead(followed by me, I was bumped) the next race the same thing happens(oh he used a NSX R both times) and I think "wow this guys not half bad" so before the next race he asks if I can set the starting procedure to reverse grid so he can start at the back. I agreed, but I asked him why, and heres how that went

Me: "Sure, can I ask why?"

Him: "it's to easy always starting out
front"

Me: "oh.. is that so?"

Him "yes, it's boring"

Me: "hey that sounds a bit arrogant to me"

Him: "not arrogant, just honest"

Me: "honest, but still arrogant;)"

Him: Maybe you all should learn to drive better than, I beat you all the last 2 races by over 10 seconds"

Me: "Wow that's a nice ego you have, I almost had you last race, I spun"

Him: "No you didn't, not even close"

Me: "Alright it's on"

So I start the race, 3 laps on Indy road, we both have identical M3 CSLs and we battle the whole race, he beats me by just over a second and finishes second overall, about 5 seconds behind the winner, then post race, his ego returns

Him: "I beat you, I started behind you and still beat you"

Me: "it was only a second, calm that ego"

Him: "I still beat you"

Me: "Yup, nice job"

Him: "that's right, guess I'm better than you"

Me: "wow that's a nice ego, where can I buy on like that?"

Him: "when you beat me, but i don't expect a frog like you to do that any time soon"

He then left, this guy thinks he is like the Aryton Senna of GT5, I sent him a message via PSN asking what his problem was, I'm pretty sure I was trolled, but my god he had a huge ego..

I encountered the most arrogant person I've ever raced on GT5 last night.

Arrogant people are quite common. Ran into one a while back claiming to be the best and that he won a comp on GT5 a while. The room I play in with mates, we change the PP/Car restrictions after each race, mix it up a bit. First race, he won. Kept babbling how he was king:censored: and whatnot, Then we changed to 580PP Pre-70s Yank-Tanks (No RM) at The host's and mine favourite track; Eiger Nordwand Short track. 5 Laps, all aids off (Except ABS(As we normally do)). Half way through the second lap, (after still ranting on about how good he is and whatnot) He leaves after dropping back to last. Everyone in the room laughed so hard we all hit the wall...

Americans are not a "race" and it may be hard to believe but not all 35,000,000 Canadians are the same tolerant, beer loving, happy go lucky kind of people that many of us are. Maybe the guy just wanted to race with other Canadians? There's never been a USA only room? The race card doesn't apply to everything.

I'm not sure if anyone has ever read the GTPlanet Racing Rules outside of a handful of people, because if everyone at least attempted to follow them, online racing would be several hundred percent better. The other day I was in a fairly fast 550pp lobby and my car cornered better but was a bit underpowered, so I'd take a bit of a lead through and exiting the corner and he'd start to catch up on the straights. In one particular corner, 4 or 5 laps in a row, he'd get a run but still be 50+ feet behind me as I started to turn in to the second gear right hander. As I approached the apex, he'd run into the side of me, lap after lap.

After the race I said, "Good race Mr X. but you were divebombing me lap after lap in corner 3". He said it wasn't a divebomb he was outbraking me. I suggested he look up the GTPlanet Rules of Racing and he said he didn't need to read any rules, he knew what outbraking was and he'd continue to do so and if I didn't like it I should go find a room for babys.

PD has so graciously given us 20 something characters to describe what kind of racing we want in our rooms so I blame them for this kind of stuff as well as the host for not using the limited space he has available to better describe his room. Whenver I see any room that has the words, "street legal" or "production" or some variant of those, I always assume they are limiting the room to cars that rolled off the assembly line in mass production, not concepts or one off race cars in disguise like the NSX LM Road Car or the R390.

The hosts behaviour was not acceptable but it should have been handled in the lobby before the race started, not on the track, with a clearer definition.

Nothing so far. People have been very respectful to my surprise, even when entering random rooms (unlike in the days of GT5P). I've done a couple of races and the hardest contact I've had was only some paint trading. People also apologize if they hit you too hard or send you off the road.

Though I 've learned that our good friends from Japan don't take it too well if you start sandbagging when they are loosing. They feel insulted for some reason. I won't do it again.

Before I got my racing wheel I was using the assist to help me drive for the first month. Well one night I went online and there was a teenager in the loby, he realized I was having trouble coming out of the cornners and I said to him. I've been driving with the traction control on and that I was using the controller not a driving wheel. So he turned off the regulations and allowed me to drive with the traction control on. So we did a few races and they were close calls between me and him. We had a great time up until the 12-year-old kid came in!! He was devistated that he was losing to me. He looked at my settings and gave this long speech about why I need to use the TC. Then after telling him several times to shut up I told him my story. Then he went on about how was gay and stupid for not having a wheel. Then I told him I'm not changing my settings....then he let's out this awfull scream that practically blew my mic and my eardrums to mush!!! He got so mad he started crying and swearing his brains out!!! I started to laugh extremely hard and then he just got so angry he left and sent me a message about how dumb and stupid I was and told me he was blocking me!! All I could say was what a baby!!

^ Seriously? :P I'd expect to find that kind if behavior in Call of Duty or Halo, not GT5, that's priceless.

Just because somebody knows that they are better than you does not make them arrogant. If you treat there behaviour as a threat that makes you ignorant.

Its the way he said it that made him sound arrogant.. I didn't take it as a threat, I really don't care, I tried being nice to him, but he just kept coming back with an arrogant response.

Well it is all over those games, I'm as old as he is but I don't get angry when someone isn't using the right controls. I mean I expected there to be nice people on the game not cranky kids. I respect the game like it is a "formal" setting. He needs to stick with Burnout and Mario Kart if he wants to get all mad about it! Im a true racing fan I love F1,ALMS/ILMC just as much as the next person. I don't know why people get all fed up with it!

I've met annoying kids. But a screamer. I'd expected those meddling kids on First-Person-Shooters. I need to join more public rooms to see if this is true.:ill:

I often ask for this too. Winning every race of the day must be great in a real racing series but in Gt5 it's really boring. If you get to start from the back, atleast there's some overtaking to be done. Especially on Nordschleife if you're capable of winning, starting from pole position gives you maybe 20% extra chance of winning because close racing in the first corners really slows people down and you can easily pull such a lead that no-one will catch you during the race. Get's quite boring after 3 or so races.

Also many times I've been in rooms where there's pretty much 3 people fighting for the win and then another 4 people who are a bit slower and having reverse grid here makes for fantastic racing. Not only are you close to your main competitors right from the start (at the back of the grid) and also you're in an "overtaking race"; the guy who gets past all the slower people fastest gets the lead first. If you hesitate to overtake or can't find the space quickly, the fast guys behind you will surely have a shot at you.

Two days ago, the game froze on me 3 times (online and offline) with in 5-10 of resetting the game again. It was so aggravating.... After about 30 minutes of rebooting I was about to just give up, but luckily the fourth time I loaded the game worked like a charm (sort of....). And I know you guys know what I mean by sort of lol GT6 was simply GT5 without all of the Bullpoop, I wouldn't be surprised that more people would play/ buy it lol. Agreed?!?!

Yesterday at Fuji, when a gentleman in a Nismo R Tune R34 was acting all agressive because he thought I was slowing him down on purpose. He started honking at me and then he just pushed me away agressively in the last turn. I don't take these little temper tantrums to well since I'm a conflict-free person. I just decided to leave the room.

I was not slowing him down. I DON'T LIKE TO TUNE MY CARS to rediculous levels like most do. But that's just me, since I enjoy the differences of every car, and being almost stock is the only way to feel that. I was racing a Viper SRT10 with nothing more than a weight reduction #1, Sport Medium tires and a sports exhaust.

That was the last oportunity I gave to online play. I don't play the game to compete, I just do it to have fun relaxing time. But after certain time, it gets too tiring to be pushed around and end up in last place with a huge 30 second gap. People take it too seriously, like if their life depends on wining the race, or they have to prove their value (in a video game lol). No more online for me but seasonals :)

That's fair enough, but remember I had no problem with him starting up front, but as soon as I asked why, he got snappy, that's what bothered me. Theres no doubting he was a great driver, but i'd never really want to race him again thanks to his attitude. I don't mind losing, but who wants to race against someone who constantly boasts about it and kills all the fun? I certainly don't.

I had an FGT room yesterday. Some idiot joins and pulls out a pick up track. I tell him FGT. then he comes out in an old Mustang. So I kicked him. I hate it when you specifically title your room "FGT, LMP, Classic Muscle or whatever, and people join using cars your not using.

It's more common than you think. I've joined several rooms where some of the players were not even using the cars the room title said to use.

Some people just don't even read the room title before joining the room.
