Worst you've dealt with online...

Maybe entrance fee races. 10k or a selectable amount of credits to enter but you get it back if you finish. Don't finish and the cash goes to the other racers.

That sounds realistic actually. You don't get to do on a track day for free either.
Of course, this would have to be an option that only the host would be able to control. Between on/off, and then the mim. and max. amount.

You might be on to something over there. 👍

My contribution to the thread...can't say I have one, as I very rarely play online.
But I got the following scenario....

This was before we could limit the cars into categories. So, it was pre-spec 2.0 I believe...
I create a room specially dedicated to SuperGT cars only. The name of the room gave that away very obviously. I set the PP to 600, select Autumn Ring with 10 laps.

After some time, I got a good thing going on here. At least 10 or so decent drivers from all over the world join in. We get close racing and a different winner every time. :)

And then, a new player joins in. As we are all waiting for the next race to start, everybody is on track with their GT500 class cars. But not this person. Oh no...this person decided that the EVO has a much better chance at winning. :irked:

The grid was for that race was set slowest first, so, obviously we now got an EVO on Pole, with at least 10 other GT500 cars right behind it. Anyone with the most basic of knowledge about cars can see what's about to happen. The EVO is going to get eaten pretty good.

Instead of getting out of the way, the player starts blocking everybody with it's EVO. Refusing to let anyone pass. And he does the same in every lap single lap. Even when he's being lapped by others. Eventually, he quits the race with 2 laps to go...

Thanks to this idea of a joke, several others kept asking me to kick this player out. So I did. Shortly after that, I get a very abusive message that no child would be able to compose. This is clearly an young adult (at very least) that we're talking about here. This person claims that everyone (including me) was cheating with higher powered cars. That I must be a young child for kicking the player out of the room.

I didn't even bothered replaying back. I resumed my fun, and let that person go peacefully. :dopey:

entrance fee's? that would make the pelican's feel they have some sense of entitlement to get in your way, but I do like it, I think an NFS style race grading vote would work better,

on the right side of the screen where you get the options scroll of highlighting a drivers name, then the scroll comes out as, add friend, compose message, kick player etc, there should be an option for us to vote CLEAN or DIRTY before said person gets kicked you click the DIRTY vote button, and a host can set a room to include only clean driver's, there will be the odd crack that gets a peanut through or a good driver shamed but 90% it would work, clean votes would up a drivers RP and dirty votes would take away from that driver's RP, and be able to set a minimum RP to the room, votes only once between races,

@Deko, this happens a lot, for some stupid reason, I ran a SGT500 Tuning prohibited room today and some Wallaby turned up, who signed up on my thread here on GTP, I recognised the name and didn't think to check it out, we were all on track qualifying, he comes on and does a lap puts him in 7th, then gets out of the room, changes car then all of a sudden he is on pole and almost 2 seconds faster then the current pole time, which eventually got bridged, then I start the race at the allotted time then I see this corvette thing on track, I told everyone to bail out, and he goes, I will just use this, its not that fast, I'm like: like hell you will mate, change to your selected car from the thread or GTFO, then he scrolls through his car list and goes, nah I will just use this other car, I kicked him after that, and wrote his name down in my "black list" whih may or may not be published on here or in a google doc then shared amongst host's/ mods,

But this does happen several times for me lately, as soon as 8 people are in a room someone will invite themselves in and ruin it by being themselves, I bet their mom's upset and everything,

In the last 48 hours I've had,

someone turn up in a NASCAR room and race a Suzuki Swift,
someone else turn up to that NASCAR room and begged us to run at grand valley,
another pelican show up and demanded us to turn off our mic's... over his mic,
open a shuffle room and get 2 guys in there complaining thaat everyone is playing black op's 2, then demanded I gift them my shuffle car??? can't for obvious reason's,
SGT500, the wallaby with the corvette,

Its such a shame that people need to be like this,

there should be an option for us to vote CLEAN or DIRTY before said person gets kicked

That would be good right up to the point when you first start playing online and you enter a room filled with idiots that give you dirty votes just for fun and you end up being branded as a dirty racer and can't join any more online races because of it.
Oh, and a million "i r clean, please vote" spam messages in every room.

No thank you.

Oh the irony...:dunce:

I would love to hear that conversation

Hey guys? Can you turn you mics off? Because, you know...I'm not bother taking mine off my ears nor am I bother looking for the mute option. :dunce:

Clearly someone can't grasp the concept of a shuffle race...

I know online can be fun. However, my stream of bad luck has been going on for such a long time that I don't even dare to touch online anymore. I get this type of pelicans (I like the sound of this, I'm gonna start using it now lol) that I just don't bother going to online. Ever.

Sadly, this is the result for every single method of every online game. No matter what the team comes up with, there's always some pelicans who abuse it to an extend, that a good things becomes bad.

I never said it was fool proof, and that would suck severely, you would think with the technology that went into making such a game that a server would detect every incident you have, running wide, crashing, winning, losing, playing fair etc,

@Deko, I hate hearing 6-11 year old kids swear and carry on while playing C.O.D, thankfully black ops 2 has a mute all option straight away, but it doesn't mute new people coming into a room,

the weird thing with C.O.D is that I play it for the online level ups and weapon upgrades, GT5 I'm trying to get level 40 the hard way, but it won't worry me if I don't get it before GT6, because I'd rather be racing 6 people for 12th place then running away with the lead,

I just got kicked for no apparent explanation of reason, it was a practice room for certain league here ? (PURE), I use the car just like everyone else, 3 corners in after exiting pit at Nurb GP/F, someone ask the host to kick me, then in matter of seconds I was rejected - I did not do anything other than passing a car moving slowly ( not the person who ask to kick me ). There were drivers who are member here, the host maybe did not like me :(, I never knew the host would be so rude to kick without any single word of warning or explanation. I asked one of the room member who is also on my friend list, why did I got kicked so quickly, while others can join in just fine, and he does not know either

They could, for example, implement some sort of "club" functionality. Like guilds in MMO's where you can join by invitation only. It wouldn't fix driver behavior but you could make your own communities inside GT ( tens or even hundreds of drivers in a club ), appoint a couple of trusted drivers as moderators that can kick out reported drivers - that clean/dirty report thing would fit in nicely here. And when you create a race you could make it public or for members only, same when searching for online games.

I joined a few lobbies for the first time this last week. I was put off for so long after hearing the horror stories of a**hole drivers and dodgy handling characteristics.

But the ones i've raced in this week have all been fairly clean, got punted off in a race on the Nurburgring GP. Rejoined and tried to catch up but no matter how hard I pushed the car's understeer seemed to gradually get worse and worse! It's safe to say I will be staying away from the online lobbies on the characteristics alone!

Now that doesn't sound right. That's nothing less than bullying.

Now that sounds even better. But, of course, then we would have 100's of clubs spawning everywhere, and most of them wouldn't even be active. But that's their problem I guess.

We can all already do that by ourselves here in GTPlanet, but obviously it would be a lot easier to do it within the game. The make your own club logo, which every member/car would have displayed for others to see.

I like this idea! :dopey:

I don't want to start a extra thread for this, so I ask here. Is it normal that sometimes in online races the brakes just do not work? I mean you press the brake button and nothing happens, ok the car seems to lean forward a bit, but you do not get any slower. Also there's no tire noise. It also looks and feels really mushy for a moment, weird. I use a cable connected DS3.

Is your ABS off?
The rules change from host to host. Some people don't allow ABS and you might not notice it while driving.

Have you tried to reassign the braking to a different button?
It might be broken or something.

It was also the 1st time ever I joined the room hosted by that particular host, I don't know anyone in the room, except for one who is in my friend list - I joined the room through his lounge menu. Everyone ( some have GTP tag ) were drivng SuperGT cars, Impul GTRs and Weider HSV, room was titled " PURE Practice ", I get it that practice means not a private room or official race room. I took my stock HSV for a drive, 3 corners later while I am warming up the tire, another driver ask the host to kick me, I asked why via text chat, the answer was "you are rejected " black screen :(

I never do such kind of thing in my 2 years of hosting online lobbies, I kicked other driver maybe once or twice, that was done after asking other room members and giving warning/explanation to the offending driver. Not saying anything bad to the host, he is a member here in GTP, but at least a word or two to say why I am about to get kicked would be civil enough for me, I would gladly leave if my presence was not welcomed.

I was turned by the Impreza TC next to me.. Twice, he'd let me pass him and then PIT me.. He was in the lead and my ARTA almost got past him the second time.

Haven't had any problems while playing online... mostly because I only log in to play the seasonals... I didn't like playing online until now...

The only minor problem I've had several times is that some guys thought I was a female because of my PSN Name...

Sounds like they were practicing for a league that you are not part of.

If they were practicing, at least the host could have said something when I joined in, maybe say "this is private practice room, please leave" or write private in the room title. The host was silent throughout the period I was in the room. If a room is public, as long as I am not disturbing other drivers ( going backwards, ramming or blocking ), there should be no issues, what bothers me is someone suddenly said via text chat " please someone kick Orido" after 3 corners of me exiting the pit - less than a minute. Then when I wrote "why", it was too late - "You were rejected", How rude can that be ?

My ABS is usually set to "1", but I sometimes drive without it, so I can tell the difference. Its really strange, I can drive several laps and always get the corner, but then I brake at the exact same point and the car goes just on. It's as if there is suddenly "air" in the brake-system. :dunce:

I think my controller is ok.
The weird thing is, today I drove at Indianapolis Road Course, I leave the Pits, accelerate and then brake for the first sharp corner, the brakes do nothing and I go out in a straight line. Ok, back on the track and a lap later I see someone else leave the Pit he accelerates, brakes for the first corner and exactly the same happens to him, he goes out in a straight line.

It feels like a remote controlled car, that has gotten out of range.

Does this happens also when racing offline?

No, offline works fine and without problems.

Well my friend...

You probably have a bad internet connection (or really unlucky, and every room you enter already has a bad connection). This makes the game take a while to show the actual command of what you told it to do.

I'd suggest that you try connecting your PS3 to the internet by wire, at least for a day and enter multiple rooms to test if the problem is still there.
I'm only saying this because I assume that you are connected wireless, if not, then you could try a different cable.

Also, know your actual internet speed. You may not know, but your internet speed might not be what you actually think it is. Some times the speed is assign to a neighborhood or entire block. Other times it could be that someone else in the house is causing a disturbance in with the connection without knowing.
This of course, is pretty OCD and rarely happens. But who knows, it might just be it.

just 2 things mate,

are you a PURE member?

Had you signed up to that PURE event?

if no to both of these then yes they will kick you, practice events are for giving the struggling driver's hint's and tips to sorting their cars,
For all racer's to get to know how each other drives and knows how in overtakes or incident's how quickly other drivers can get out of the way,
also to check everyone's connection's, if you lag badly they will remove you from their league, yes its harsh but why should 1 person's issue ruin everyone elses fun,

now having said that and and you not being a member of PURE or have anything to do with said event, then don't take it personally, they don't need to know your connection quality or driver awareness,

That might be true, but once I joined them also, same room title, and I'm not a member (well not yet maybe). They seems fine to me.
In Orido's case maybe he was lagging?
My connection was not very good (5mbps) plus thousands of miles distance so I gave the pack go at the beginning to prevent laggy first lap. Enjoyed a few races until the room closed down.

OK, I'm not sure if this is the worst I've dealt with, but I was in a room at Sarthe, and the next thing you know, everyone gets kicked, including me. So I send the host a friendly (NOT flaming) message about why he kicked me and everyone else. His answer? He wanted to know what happened...

I'd have to say me, when i was doing a race on grand valley speedway. I used my amuse gt1 turbo (my fastest and favourite car at the time). i didn't realise that i had comfort tires on. Anyway, i spent the whole race trying to drive like i was on racing tires and wondering why i kept shooting into the sand. After a couple of laps, the leader, (also room owner i think,) came up behind me. i was on the inside around either the second hairpin or the tight corner before the first tunnel. he went to overtake on the outside, and i completely and accidentally pushed him right off the track:guilty: Whoops. i explained after wards what happened, and he seemed ok.

Also, i someone is doing something like going backwards in an x1, then i use my maxed escudo & continuously ram them untill i believe they've learn't their lesson, or they change cars or quit.

Well there's no way to hardwire my playstation, there are like 4 walls between the router and the PS3. But usually I have a rather good connection.

Also how can my own car lag? If my playstation calculates the physics for my car, I can only lag to other people and vise versa.

And that is why you would both get kicked in a lot of rooms.

Hard to believe some of you haven't figured out that when you see the acronym for a league like PURE or ORCA or any kind of lobby title that specifies a certain group like "Quebec" or "American" or "KylesFriends" or anything of that sort, that if you go into those rooms and don't fit the profile you are going to get kicked. Why do you think they put that stuff in the room title?:boggled:

I always put "GTP PRIVATE" in my league races, when people send me abusive pm's after I kick them I tell them just to learn to read.

If it is another friend or a member with the "GTP_" prefix, I wait for them to load before asking them.
